Very nice atmosphere. Music was a little loud. Great food! Great service’
We were late for our reservation, yet they still seated us and were very kind!! The waiter did not rush us at all! The Buffett was wonderful. There was not one thing on it, that we tried, the we did not like. Everything was delicious. We were one of the last tables, & they were sure that we got enough before they would shut down. Our waiter kept our glasses full the whole time!!! Very kind & WONDERFUL Food !!! Will Definitely be back & recommend to all of our friends!!! Thank you all for the Wonderful Dinning Experience!!!!
I took my mother and both my teenagers to Wendell’s for a pre-Mother’s day dinner. The server was very nice, the entrees took over an hour to be served. The guitarist playing in the dining room plays too loud which cripples any possibility of dinner conversation. I mentioned this to our server, but he stated that on Friday and Saturday he plays loud and it is more like a dinner concert according to the hostess.
Wendell's at the Inn of the Mountain Gods is a real treasure. The food is always most enjoyable, and the restaurant has a good wine selection (for "normal" and "special" occasions). Add to this a very professional, caring staff of servers and an unbeatable view of the mountains in the vicinity of Ruidoso and each dining experience is always memorable. With the possible exception of Cafe Central in downtown El Paso, Wendell's offers the finest, most consistently great dining experience in the greater Las Cruces/El Paso borderland region. I'd have to go west along I-10 to Tucson or north along I-25 to Albuquerque to find comparable establishments.
Fabulous food and excellent service by staff! Will be coming back again!
Over priced for the quality and service was terrible. The waiter didn’t seem to understand anything we said, messed up our order and was slow with service even though the restaurant was practically empty. He only had one other table.
Nice view. Good bar. Seafood better than expected. Salmon, crabcakes, lobster first rate. Scallops a bit fishy. Filet spot on. Veggies good. Gluten options good. Great bar, passable wine list. Nice desserts. Server was overworked, but ultimately good.
We went for my birthday celebration. My husband and I shared the prime rib, it was amazingly tender. Also had the red chili soup, whipped potatoes and salad. My son had a steak that was great as well. Nice wine list and margaritas. The view at sunset was amazing 😉
Was an amazing evening with my beautiful date, and one we will make the 2 1/2 hour drive for again and again.
E love to dine at Wendell's when we can. The food is always excellent and the Server's are always fabulous.
Great service! Delicious food! Steak cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend
Scallops were super fishy tasting. There for our 40th wedding anniversary and they asked if it was a special occasion.... nothing, no dessert to share. Nothing. Just fishy scallops and a 250 bill for 2 without alcohol....
This has become my favorite romantic date spot! The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is too! I will definitely be going back soon.
The food and ambiance were excellent. My husband had the Elk ribeye and it was one of the best he has ever had. My filet was excellent as well. The was a wonderful guitarist playing and we enjoyed the music as well.
The service and attentiveness was quite delayed. Not sure if Wendell's was short staffed that day, but our food took nearly 30 minutes or more to be served and our waiter seemed to be overwhelmed with tables. We were in-fact late to our show there at Inn of the Mountain Gods, so I would recommend arrive there much earlier. Give yourselves about 2 hours prior to show start time. Otherwise, the food was delicious! Somewhat small portioned and pricey, but delicious and you cannot beat the amazing view of the lake/mountains. Perfect for a date or anniversary.
Wendell’s is a little pricey ($50 for a small steak) but the view is spectacular and the food is deliciously prepared
This restaurant has delicious food, amazing views and good service. It's a little pricey, but it has a wide range of dishes including seafood, steaks, bison, elk etc and the menu changes every couple months. It has a wide range of wines and was overall very enjoyable
Our waiter Alex was excellent and made our evening very special. Food was OK but not outstanding. Shrimp less tasty than expected. Soup was lukewarm. Elk was good. Dessert a nice finish.
poor, slow service, steak was over cooked and when we complained they took off a salad - big deal
What a great experience! Alex B. was fantastic, the food was delicious and the setting was beautiful. Save room for the chocolate lava dessert!
The food was horrible! We eat there every trip and this time it had changed. The crab cake was made from imitation crab meat and cold. Our salads were pre made and you could tell had been sitting in a fridge fir possibly a day or longer and our meal was cold and the sides were also pre made and not warmed up. I would cetainly hope they get there act back together and go back to thet way they used to be because this was 1 of our favorite spots!
Great atmosphere, good food and wine, and the live music was excellent. The entertainer was an incredible guitar player and made the evening special.
Our waiter was very accommodating in that we had a reservation for 2 that grew to 8. The hostess said they couldn’t seat that many until much later in the evening. Our waiter walked by and heard our request and said he would gladly take our table. He was great!
The atmosphere was great, we loved the guitarist he was anzing. It was very nice and a lovely table set. The food was very different, the crab tasted fishy and the elk steak tasted gamey so it wasnt our favorite. The sides were overall very bland. The wine was very good but the service was distracted with large parties and we had to request a dessert menu and waited too long for our ticket. We had a better experience at hallf of flame burgers in town rather than the place we paid $140 for a meal at. We were not crazy about it at all.
We went for a nice dinner before a concert at the IMG. Got a bottle of wine and had a very nice dinner of scallops and lobster tail. It was delicious and service was good. They have a very talented guitarist, Gerardo, every weekend and we enjoyed listening to him during dinner.
Food was superb. Our server Alex was amazing! Will definitely go whenever in Ruidoso.
Wasn’t as good as we remember. Won’t be going back
I let them know it was my husband’s birthday and nothing was done to show it was a special occasion. Filet and crab cakes were good, so was the chicken tortilla soup even though the food was not hot, more like room temperature. I ordered a chopped salad and not worth the money paid for it. The presentation was not well, the lettuce looked old and the cheese was cheese you find on a buffet at Golden Corral. Not sure if we will go back.
I was there celebrating my girlfriends birthday. The service was great our server was helpful & courteous. The food was outstanding. Plus the guitarist who was playing that night we went was exceptional.
Over all it was a good experience.
Will recommended to family & friends.
Wendell's made our evening celebrating a late Valentine's Day very special. The view of the mountains is always gorgeous. My Kobe steak was perfectly cooked and so delicious and our waiter was very attentive and polite. Great job!
The food was fairly well presented but tended toward being bland. There were holes in the table coverings. The waitress came back only once during the meal. It was no where near capacity. The view is really nice and the acoustic guitar player was amazing. Priced high for what it was.
This visit to IMG for our anniversary was an excellent choice! Our waiter could not have been any better - from greeting us immediately to suggesting the perfect wine. Starting off with delicious crab cakes. My husband had the prime rib and raved about the side mac & cheese! I had the scallops & lobster - done perfectly. During dinner a solo guitarist played - this was a wonderful complement to our meal - replacing the usual restaurant sounds with "not too loud" music.
I would have given less stars but I have had awesome meals and amazing service at wendells but on Valentine's Day it was horrible. Our waiter was never to be found and when he did appear you would have to stop him as he would just try to cruise right on by our table. Our meal came out cool like it had been sitting in the window for several minutes before being served to the table. This is just not the service or experience anyone should receive especially when it's one of the most expensive restaurants in the area if not the most.
It was my 75th Birthday. We were celebrating it with friends. Everything was excellent - wine, salad, entrée and desert. The service was wonderful. Everything is a-la-cart, so it is an elegant expensive restaurant, not for the faint of heart. We had a great time.
We've been to Wendells numerous times in the past. It use to be an excellent 5 star restaurant but our last experience was terrible. The Caesar was not a Caesar salad, The crab-cakes were luke warm and the main coarse was luke warm. The service was extremely slow. They have quickly deteriorated from a 5 star to a mediocre 3 star. It's truly a shame!
Our server was great. Knew the menu and was always checking on us. On the other hand, made arrangements for a rose to be at the table but nothing was done even thought I was willing to pay for that gesture.
Just Love Wendell's for Breakfast , Lunch and Dinner.
Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving is the best .
The staff there you could'nt find better.
We are Locals and eat there every chance we get and are never
We've been there several times and have never been disappointed. Wait staff is professional, not hovering. It's never been noisy.
The wife and I went for dinner and had a good time. The waiter was very helpful and they had a gentleman playing guitar in the front. His music was excellent. This restaurant is really great for dates or special occasions. The food was delicious and they don’t hold back on portions. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Wendell’s.
