Wence's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We have been here many times before, but on this visit, the food was very slow, almost an hour wait. We scheduled an early dinner, but had to wait almost an hour before the food arrived at the table. The Prime Rib was ordered medium, but it came out medium-rare, the grilled salmon was not cooked through and the middle was raw. We did not send the food back to be cooked more because of the very long wait. I eat raw salmon anyway, so I was cool with the under-cooked salmon. All in all, the food was delicious and the portions were very generous. The broccolini was very tender and delicious, which can be challenging for any restaurant. I think they just overbooked the restaurant and the kitchen was backed up. Yes, we will continue to return to Wences. They should not overbook and stress the kitchen out.
We enjoy the food at Wence's and never leave hungry. The wait-staff has always been attentive, even on a busy night like last night. Started with the mussels to share with extra bread to dip in the sauce. Then everyone ordered a different seafood (Ahi, salmon, sea bass, chippino, fish tacos, and mixed seafood grill) and there was no leftovers.
We have always enjoyed this neighborhood restaurant.
Hadn’t been here for a while due to the last few times we were there the service was not good. It was slow and when we asked for bread it was dry. Tonight we went and everything was perfect. So glad to see because the food was delicious. The Truffle Mac and Cheese was perfect and the steak was cooked spot on. I will definitely go again!
I meet a friend occasionally at Wence's and it never disappoints!! Even though there was a large group in the second room, we were seated promptly at a quiet table in the front room. The restaurant is not at all fancy, but there are some excellent touches. The napkins are linen. The service is very friendly and efficient. The menu is extensive, with many choices for vegetarians. On Saturday I ordered the Dungeness Crab Avocado Benedict and it was absolutely delicious! It was served with pleasantly spicy home fries and a tiny dessert (apple crumble???). We'll happily return!!
Wences is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant located in a strip mall in a residential area. The menu is fairly extensive with enough choices to satisfy a family or group of friends with diverse tastes. The food is nicely prepared, tasty, and generous. Service is friendly and attentive. There's no downside to eating here.
Easy to find and plenty of parking. We were seated promptly. The server was very attentive and friendly. This was the second time we ate there and have enjoyed it both times. The small family owned business really does a great job. The food was great, they have a good wine and beer selection as well as a full bar. Very reasonable prices. We will definitely be back.
The food was excellent and service was great. I highly recommend the scallops if you can stand spicy food. The lobster chowder special was scrumptious. Not a cheap spot, but worth it for the quality. We'll definitely be visiting again soon!
Wence’s is outstanding in every way but very noisy. I only suggest that they might invest in some very effective yet stylish sound proofing for the walls and ceiling. They already have some sound proofing panel on wthe walls and ceiling but the are not thick enough to effectively absorb the overwhelming loud sounds. I did need to talk loudly and listen closely during dinner. In every other way Wence’s is a great restaurant which i recommend to all.
While this restaurant is one of our favorites we were disappointed that the hostess abruptly dismissed our Passport membership benefits and refused to honor the rules as stated. She was angry with us for using the program! She finally relented but said they were changing the rules and would no longer honor future dining.
We have some friends that just moved right down the street from Wences. I love this restaurant - they do everything just perfectly. We live in Alamo and I wish they were located here. But, I will continue to visit. The ambience is just right - not too noisy so you can talk but its lively. I had the seafood special which was great and my son had a steak which was amazing - I really can't say enough.
They have a broad menu with choices for every palate, from oysters to pasta to salads to meat. I had a wedge salad with steak on top, which was very tasty. The salad with chicken was excellent, and the prime rib was excellent, according to my dinner guests.
5 of us went for my birthday. I had reservations and we were seated promptly. 2 of us had salmon specials, teenager had the huge burger and fries (they took off the egg/tomato/lettuce for him), one had a seafood pasta, and I had my favorite; the rib eye with roasted garlic and bleu cheese, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. We all agreed that the dinners were excellent and I, the birthday girl, had 1/2 a yummy steak to take home. Hubby had a cup of a very thick and delicious tomato soup. Service was very good, but next time, I might bring a favorite bottle of wine and pay the corkage fee. (even their white wine was very nice)
The seafood here is delicious. I hiiighly recommend the king salmon. It's flavorful and cooked perfectly. The wine list is solid too. The Joel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon was fantastic. For dessert, the chocolate flourless cake cannot be beat. The service is also excellent and the outdoor patio is dog friendly.
