Wellington's Steakhouse at Rising Star Casino Resort Ratings and Reviews
Very over priced for the quality of food you get.
I could have gotten the same meal at Applebee's for $10 or $15. Too noisy as the band playing outside the restaurant was very loud. No restrooms inside the restaurant and have to walk across the large interior walkway of the casino for a restroom. Service was good but won't be going back until prices lower or quality of food matches prices.
We went while staying at the casino Hotel for the night. My wife had the filet with blue cheese butter(no blue cheese butter was evident) and I had king crab legs. My children split the chicken tenders from the pub but didn’t eat them as they weren’t cooked through. I have better steaks at Texas Roadhouse every visit. Crab legs were pretty good. We will not return as the buffet has better steaks and is much cheaper.
I had the lobster deviled eggs and the steak flatbread as appetizers and both were very good. One could make a meal of the flatbread as it was a huge portion! My server warned me it was a large portion and he was correct. For the main course I had the Altantic salmon. It was also very tasty, however the time between my appetizers and the main course was excessive...over 35 minutes! According to my server the cook forgot my order and it was not picked up until much later when my server checked on the status?
The food was very delicious. I ordered the crab cake and French onion soup appetizers and the crab cake was very good, however the soup was among the best I’ve had. The steak was cooked as ordered and was very flavorful. My server was Ashley and she did a wonderful job. I’ll definitely be back!
We have eaten at this establishment several times and have always found the food to be of great value. The service is also excellent with the exception of the person at the front desk doing the seating. On several occasions this person has been unfriendly and unresponsive to certain requests including this last visit where she attempted to seat this 74 inch 210 pound individual in an area with about a two foot clearance with the person sitting at the adjacent table. When this was pointed out to this person she did not seem to understand the problem and was hesitant to find another table for seating until I insisted. She expressed displeasure with having to do this. All other personnel including Wayne the manager and every server we have had contact with provided excellent service.
Over the years Wellingtons has been outstanding. However the last two times we ate there the salmon was not cooked completely despite pointing this out, even more so the second time. This was brought to the attention of the Manager. I don't know if there is a new chef hired, but there was one other customer who also mentioned his food was not cooked properly. I can only hope that Wellington's will correct this problem. For a fine dining restaurant it has high standards and should do whatever it takes to maintain such standards. While the rest of our food was good, it falls short when the main entree is not cooked properly.
We have been coming to Rising Star Casino for a year and a half and always enjoy viewing the seasonal changes in decor. Christmas is our favorite. We also very much like the community of Rising Sun, Indiana. It is a very charming community with fun events. It's our understanding that the casino contributes a great deal to Rising Sun and Ohio County. Thank you for that.
We usually dine at Vic's Pub next door on prime rib Thursday's and Sunday's but because we had revieved a savings coupon from Wellingtons we decided to try it. Previously we had checked the menu prices and passed. However, our experience was top notch and a very pleasant surprise! We were very impressed not only with the amount of servings but the quality in taste and the atmosphere was very cozy, quiet and comfortable, three things that are lacking in many restaurants these days. We also received very good wait service. We do suggest providing a little more lighting to be able to read the menu. And maybe a complementary sample of wine to indice an order.
Thank you for our invitation!
We had the Filet steak and it was excellent. Very tender and tasty. Also Baked Potato Was delicious. Made reservations over the Internet and was surprised to receive a free appetizer with our dinner. Would highly recommend this restaurant for an upscale evening out dinner.
This visit was a little better than last visit. My first complaint was the shrimp appetizer, it felt slimy and smelled to fishy.. just wasn't the same as normal and we get that every time we come. The second was the stuffed mushroom appetizers, they definitely were not the same. They were tough like either over cooked or we were given old mushrooms that were heated up again. Other than than those 2, the steaks were great, we didn't have to send either back cause they were cooked as ordered and were good In taste . Thank u!
This place has really changed in the past year. The quality of the food, service, and atmosphere has gone down to what you would fine at a less than fine dinning restaurant.
My last two experiences there found the food to be mediocre at best, lacking in flavor and bland tasting.
I assume they were cutting cost by no longer having table cloths but having tables with scratches makes you wonder when the stemware will be replaced with mason jars.
It is always a wonderful experience when we come here. Britney, one of their best servers took care of everything for us and made dining a pleasure. Our two favorites to order are the filet and the pork chops. Neither have ever disappointed us. I am very picky with ordering a steak out, but I must say when I order a filet at Wellington's they are the best in flavor and tenderness and always cooked to perfection. I highly recommend Wellington's if you are ever in the area.
We started with the Sangaria which was on special Friday night and was quite delightful followed by Scallops as an appetizer and they were delicious, seared perfectly and the sauce was crazy good.
The BLT salad was good, I found the the ranch dressing that came with it was a little watery
My main course was the filet which was tender but not very hot when it came out and the baked Mac n cheese which I found fantastic
The service was outstanding and the ambience was nice
I would recommend this place when visiting Rising Sun
Everything was fine except the wait. Waited for one hour for entree to arrive. It was the kitchens fault for this delay. Order was promptly taken by a friendly server and either the kitchen lost the order or they were understaffed. Whatever this is not the service I expet from an upscale restaurant.
Service was wonderful. Bread, French Onion Soup and salad were great. I got the shrimp scampi....shrimp was tough. My companion, Ann Clark, got the filet, medium well and it was charred and tough. The server was told and offered her something else but we didn't want to wait.
The food is always top rate at this fine dining restaurant in the Rising Star Casino. We had salmon with salad and asparagus on the side. The chocolate cake for dessert is a large dessert that is best split between two people. We usually return to this restaurant at least monthly, and there is no reason not to given the overall experience.
I would NEVER order their Chicken Cordon Bleu again as I felt it was very sub-par. Instead of Chicken, ham and cheese filling, it was more chicken, fat & cheese. The ham or whatever they used as a filling was indeed very fatty and had not been trimmed from the ham.
I was highly disappointed on Thursday when I went to eat. I had the shrimp scampi the last time I ate there and loved it! That's what I was looking forward to on this last visit and when they brought it out, it just wasn't the scampi I remembered. They changed it. They also failed to change it in the menu or even have the servers let customers aware of the change. It was not the same taste at all. So anyways the nice server asked to get me something else and I was hesitant because I didn't want to waste the food, but then that's not what I expected either. So I asked if they would bag it up and I can take it home to my daughter who actually may like it and he said absolutely! So I ordered the New York strip and a few minutes later the manager walked out with the scampi in a bag asking me if i wanted it. I said I don't but I was gonna take it home to my daughter. He said well I will have to charge u for this also. I said no.. I don't want it then. So my point of the story is, I ordered off the menu something I was expecting and it wasn't that and I wasn't made aware that it wasn't the same and has been changed. So instead of letting me take it to my daughter they would rather throw the entire meal away because I wasn't gonna be charged for it! That's sad! It was not my fault u changed an item and didn't change it on the menu or even let me know when I ordered it! They rather waste a whole plate of food then to have someone take their mistake home to someone else who may like it.
We ordered steak well done not burnt and it was burnt. Was told that baked potato would not be opened to keep it hotter well it was cold when it came and we ordered cheese cake which usually is the best but it was frozen when brought to the table. I was told they are redoing the kitchen ....server was upset and so was we. We was there 2 hours and 10 minutes for dinner. Normally one hour... was very disappointed this time in food. Couldn't find manager or we would have complained.
We have visited Wellington's on several occasions. Normally we have some sort of complimentary award from the Rising Star Casino to defray out expense. The service was not as up to par as usual on this visit but still satisfactory. The food was excellent as always and the free appetizer given due to our booking our reservation on Open Table was appreciated.
