My wife and I were in town for a jazz concert at the Carnegie Hotel. So for convenience, we decided to dine at the Wellington. We had no special expectations but really came away impressed. We will tell friends and return again soon.
Seated an hour before closing so timing wasn't the issue. Promised bread several times for over 30 minutes and finally told from a different server that they had none. Then told, well we do but it is frozen and they are trying to thaw it out. Ordered Filet medium and showed up very rare.
Once they got it right steak was good. Service was not... Had to ask for everything all the way down to a pen to sign the check...
Great place for special occasion. We celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary.
My husband and I had our first date there, got engaged there and had our wedding reception there. We recently celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary there and got to sit at our exact table we sat at when we got engaged and cut the cake at our wedding. Wellington’s is very special to us and it never disappoints!

Wellington's is the best fine dining in Johnson City. The college town doesn't have much to offer in the upper-end category, but this place is great. Do yourself a favor and save some room for their Bananas Foster!
Wasn’t disappointed! Greek chicken soup, pear walnut and chicken salad and drinks all excellent
First time there. Very impressed. Will be back. Food very good ,price is fair, atmosphere great.
Fantastic meal for valentines dinner! New menu is even better than before. Staff was prepared for the crowd!
Very affordable with high quality food. I’ll be dining here more often.
Great food and lovely staff i cant wait to go back.
Amazing experience! Highly recommend. Amazing food and atmosphere! Best restaurant in the tri cities for both.
We had a very relaxed, enjoyable dinner at The Wellington. Our service was great, as was the meal, also. My husband had the filet, I tried the “Deconstructed Wellington”, neither disappointed. We finished off the evening with the raspberry cheesecake.
We will definitely return soon!
Finally tried the restaurant. Service was very good and my beef Wellington was superb. The filet was tender and vert tasty. Fried green tomatoes crisp and the orange marmalade went well with this. Great ambiance. Recommend highly. Good bar scene for the 35 plus crowd.
Awesome food except for one thing. Onions are in the butter. Had no idea and wife almost died as she has a sever allergy to them. Luckily we had meds to stop this.
Food quality and portions have negatively changed recently. Possibly new supplier?
We dined for breakfast prior to checking out of the hotel. The food was good. However, there were not enough options for breakfast/brunch.
Great overall dining experience. My wife, daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The desserts were wonderful as well.
The food was great and the staff was friendly. the only complaint was that it was cold and we had to dine with our coats and scarves on
Service was spot on and food was delicious! We will be eating here regularly!
Wellington's dining always adds to the occasion. Especially our anniversary.
Appetizers were the best thing, but very pricey. 3 deviled eggs --3 halves - were $6. The best thing on the menu was the shrimp and grits. It was a great price for the size and taste. It took over 30-45 min after we were done with apps for food to be brought out- salad, cold sandwich and plain burger. Only 2 other tables that came in after us confused about why service was so slow. Fries were room temp. Desserts also very pricey. $8 for very small slice of cheesecake or torte.
I was excited to try this restaurant as I had enjoyed their spa the last time I traveled to this area. Company joined us and service was horrible from sitting down. The staff was all young and very inexperienced and unprofessional. There was no manager on duty! The waitresses were rude and felt as if we were bothering them. My fathers steak, after messing it up the first time causing the other diners to eat gold entrees, was awful! They had none of the basic skills down.. touching the lip of used glasses to refill water, playing with their hair then setting tables, handing hot coffee over diners rather than walk around. Portions were small, food was just ok and the service was the worst I’ve experienced ever!
Great ambiance. We had a romantic anniversary dinner. Food was delicious and service was top notch. We will definitely visit again.
Really pleased with this restaurant. I travel and entertain clients globally and this is a great place for business dinners or special occasions.
I made a reservation several weeks in advance for a table for 13 people for breakfast and also called the day before to confirm, but the table was not ready. The waitress said the hostess did not show up for work that day and they did not know about the reservation. They put some tables together but we were forced to sit so close it was uncomfortable. The food was only lukewarm when it was served. I would expect better from a restaurant like Wellingtons.
Lovely restaurant. The food was outstanding. The service was excellent. I cant wait to go back!!!
Our family came to Johnson City for my nephew’s soccer game at ETSU and needed a place to accommodate 13 of us for breakfast. I have stayed at Carnegie Hotel several times and I always enjoy eating at Wellington’s! The breakfast was delicious and it’s a great value! I highly recommend Wellington’s!
The food was very quality served be people with good customer service skills.
Server did not listen very well. Food was not very good.
Great atmosphere, great food and service. Will become our place for special occasions.
I have drove by Wellington's for several years and have wanted to try it. My husband mentioned that his work group was wanting to get together for an evening out and asked if I had any suggestions, Welling's came to mind. So we made a reservation for 13.
Everyone was seated as arrived. We were seated in a back corner, which was fine for the group. The waitress took our drink orders but made no suggestion ordering appetizers. Once everyone arrived, the order was taken right away. The table ordered a variety of items on the menu. I had the 8oz Filet, it was very tasty, but honestly no better than what I would order from other local steak restaurants. One person ordered a burger, which looked very good, another ordered a Reuben. Nobody had any complaints about the food- I guess it just wasn't the Wow we expected from "Wellington's." I would however try the restaurant again, but with smaller expectations. It compares to any other good restaurant in the area, just a bit more pricey, but affordable.
We have been going to wellingtons since they were in Bridgeport. Always great food and service. We recommend it frequently.
We dined at Wellington's twice during our stay at the hotel. The only slightly negative was both times we had to wait what I felt was a significant amount of time to be greeted by the hostess (same young female both times) who did not appear to be busy but rather talking with the servers toward the kitchen area. The food was outstanding and came hot and delivered quickly.
This was our first time at Wellingtons and we very pleased. We had excellent food and service.
Excellent food and service. Quiet. In terms of interior, I would say it is the nicest in Johnson City, Tennessee. It is located in the Carnegie Hotel across the street from ETSU. Good variety of menu selections and good wine list too. Friendly service.
Food and service was excellent. Fancy place. Live jazz on Thursday nights.
Everything was delicious, our waitress was excellent server. Polite, friendly, not to over bearing. The only thing that would have made it better was if we had been able to get the booth we requested, but overall still great.
Absolutely a spectacular evening. Great food, great wine, excellent!
The steak was over cooked; the bread was cold and just three small slices, the salads had been made in advance and left to sit there absorbing too much dressing and the waitress did not want to be there. It was the worst meal in Johnson City at double the price.
Hotel restaurant trying to disguise themselves as fine dining. Very quiet and empty on a Saturday night. That being said the food was delicious and it's a good value. If you're staying at the Carnegie, I'd try it out. If not, there are better spots for dining in Johnson City.
