Wellington's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Our family came to Johnson City for my nephew’s soccer game at ETSU and needed a place to accommodate 13 of us for breakfast. I have stayed at Carnegie Hotel several times and I always enjoy eating at Wellington’s! The breakfast was delicious and it’s a great value! I highly recommend Wellington’s!
I have drove by Wellington's for several years and have wanted to try it. My husband mentioned that his work group was wanting to get together for an evening out and asked if I had any suggestions, Welling's came to mind. So we made a reservation for 13.
Everyone was seated as arrived. We were seated in a back corner, which was fine for the group. The waitress took our drink orders but made no suggestion ordering appetizers. Once everyone arrived, the order was taken right away. The table ordered a variety of items on the menu. I had the 8oz Filet, it was very tasty, but honestly no better than what I would order from other local steak restaurants. One person ordered a burger, which looked very good, another ordered a Reuben. Nobody had any complaints about the food- I guess it just wasn't the Wow we expected from "Wellington's." I would however try the restaurant again, but with smaller expectations. It compares to any other good restaurant in the area, just a bit more pricey, but affordable.
We dined at Wellington's twice during our stay at the hotel. The only slightly negative was both times we had to wait what I felt was a significant amount of time to be greeted by the hostess (same young female both times) who did not appear to be busy but rather talking with the servers toward the kitchen area. The food was outstanding and came hot and delivered quickly.
The steak was over cooked; the bread was cold and just three small slices, the salads had been made in advance and left to sit there absorbing too much dressing and the waitress did not want to be there. It was the worst meal in Johnson City at double the price.
Hotel restaurant trying to disguise themselves as fine dining. Very quiet and empty on a Saturday night. That being said the food was delicious and it's a good value. If you're staying at the Carnegie, I'd try it out. If not, there are better spots for dining in Johnson City.
Our experience was phenomenal, and the biggest contributing factor was our server, Sarge. He was attentive, yet unobtrusive, which is the BEST kind of server! Helpful, kind, and went the extra mile, for sure. This was my first meal at Wellington's, and I can't wait to go back!
VERY accommodating. Staying at the hotel and we were running late getting ready to see a show. My husband called down to the restaurant to see if we could place our order and have a table ready when we had finished. The staff had a table ready for us and our order placed with the kitchen. We were able to enjoy our meal and get to the theatre on time. Very much appreciated.
The atmosphere is great & the service was wonderful. The host was very friendly & knew immediately when I gave him my name about my reservation & where our table was located. Our waitress was exceptionally efficient & attentive & pleasant. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich with fries. Fries were tasty. Chicken salad was dry & not very flavorful although the quantity of it was very generous. It was not bad--it just needed something to improve the moisture & flavor.
The staff were pleasent. The food was just so average. The steaks were not seasoned, and came with a sweet demi glaze that was the only thing you could taste. The by the glass wines were not good. Meiomi is so inexpensive, no excuse to have such a blah no name Pinot Noir for a selection. Hate to be so harsh, it was just not good.
We love Wellington's and enjoy almost every Anniversary and Valentine's there. We also love the Carnegie Hotel and have been treated to a weekend there by our children.
The staff usually knows we are there to celebrate a special occasion and always make it memorable. Menu is wonderful. Food is always delicious and presentation is inviting.
Love it when the jazz ensemble is there.
Enjoyed our dinner with friends. Portions are small given the pricing however quality is above average. We had breakfast the next morning which we enjoyed as well and was a much better value. I must say our favorite part was the time we spent with friends relaxing in the bar area. Beautiful surroundings and nice atmosphere as well. Hotel combined with our experience in the dining area and bar made for a very nice weekend.
