Good food and ambience but limited menu. Bar service was excellent but slow.
Service was horrible ... very slow and it was t because they were too busy. Our waitperson spent plenty of time with her friends at the table next to us. It’s a shame because food and ambience was good.
Service was not good at all and it was extremely loud. The menu has been the same for many years and is limited and very fattening. I got one of the few semi-healthy options (quinoa and avocado wrap) and it was pretty rough. Very southern influenced cooking, so if that’s not your thing this isn’t a good restaurant.
My wife and I enjoyed an excellent evening at Wellington’s. The atmosphere is second none in Johnson City. Our food was cooked to our liking and we had a wonderful and memorable time. We will definitely be returning.
We recently "discovered" Wellington's and it has become our favorite "go to" restaurant for special occasions. The food is delicious, the ambience delightful . . . and all is enhanced by our excellent server, Sarge . . who makes a great experience even greater! Kudos to all!
Very enjoyable evening. We were really not in a hurry and the service person was not intrusive. However when we wanted her, she was not always visible. I think that she had too many tables to take care of at one time. Did check in to see how everything was going.
Had a wonderful time. Waiter was awesome. Food fantastic. Will definitely visit again on next trip to area.
We went to Wellington’s on Saturday evening. Service was a little slow sonsidering it wasn’t crowded at all. The food was ok but not really as good as we’d hoped. We probably wouldn’t eat here a second time because we wanted a different experience. We expected exceptional service and food and both were average. The restaurant was decorated nicely and the ambience was nice.
My husband and I dined here to celebrate my birthday. It was our first visit and expected an incredible experience. The restaurant itself was relaxing but the food was disappointing. I ordered the deconstructed Wellington and my husband ordered the filet. Both steaks were average, nothing special. The puff pastry that came with mine was burnt and the green beans waxy tasting. The mashed potatoes were the best part of the meal. Sadly, our desserts were even worse. I ordered a peach bunt cake, terrible. My husband had the cheesecake, disappointing. The meal itself was extremely overpriced for the quality.
I was traveling on business and my wife and I reserved a table for our anniversary. The food was magnificent. I highly recommend the deconstructed Wellington
We went for our 35th wedding anniversary. Very quiet night. Server was attentive and knowledgeable. The green tomato appitizer was excellent. Both entrees were prepared perfectly. We splurged for Bananas Foster which was prepared at the table and was a perfect finish. We will find reasons to come back!
This is my new favorite place to dine in Johnson City. The ambience is perfect and the food was absolutely amazing. I had the Deconstructed Wellington for dinner and it was one of the best meals I think I’ve ever had! The tasteful dark wood decor and quiet atmosphere made for a beautiful dining experience.
The food was excellent. The fried green tomatoes topped with orange marmalade constituted one of the finest appetizers I have had in America. The Deconstructed Beef Wellington was also excellent. Our service, on the other hand, was very slow; that said, it was accompanied by multiple apologies. We weren't in any rush, but there were notable delays between courses. The ambiance (dark woods and music in the background) was quite masculine.
Food and service was outstanding. Prices were very reasonable. Will be back.
Great service, Fantastic food. The atmosphere was absolutely wonderful. I would definitely recommend to anyone.
Wonderful dinner , our waiter was superb. Sarg made the evening so pleasant for our 93year young guests who enjoyed herself . Most definitely would visit the next time we are in the area .
Nice upscale restaurant at modest prices. Took reservation and set a nice corner table for our 32nd Anniversary. Service was nice and pleasant. Breakfast eggs cooked perfectly without scorching. Thick bacon, and wife enjoyed the harvest grain waffle. Highly recommend.
Our group was in JC for golf tournament. We were all staying at Carnegie. Food is always good here and a good value. A touch on the slow side of service but the food was good and a fair value.
2nd time there - as good as the first... will always be the "Johnson City" dinner of choice.
The food was way over priced and service was slow. The breakfast we ordered was 2 eggs, bacon, fried left over baked potatoes and grits. I asked if I could substitute the potatoes for some fruit. She said for $2 more!! The first coffee she brought us was bitter and cold. I went to the lobby to get fresh coffee. Still was charged for coffee. I will eat on Main Street for now on.
Great for a date night out. Come on a thursday, it's live jazz night. Can help set the mood.
The food was good. After having dinner there, we went back the next morning for breakfast. The waffle with whipped cream and berries was a work of art and delicious. Service can be a little slow but the food is fresh.
A perfect venue for catching up with family I haven't seen in a decade! The food was delicious, the service was patient and polite, and it all contributed to a perfect evening!
Was very disappointed that we were able to book a reservation for 145pm; arrived early and were seated promptly, but told at 2:15pm that we could not order deserts because the kitchen closed at 2pm. A party of 7 for Easter Sunday and no desert?!? Seems like poor management to me.
This was the first time my food was just ok. I brag about this place and go at least once a week. I dont know if the chef just had a bad day or what. It wasnt busy. I was very disappointed because I can always count of a delicious meal but my vegetables were burnt, my meat was undercooked.
Wife and I had an excellent evening at Wellington’s for our anniversary.
Dinner was excellent, service was great. Would recommend to others for special occasions.
Wife & I had the Pork Dinner---Very good except for the Brussel Sprouts which were not cooked adequately, were hard & inedible ! The noise level, most likely from the fans, seemed excessive---with a table of six adjacent to the kitchen, it was difficult to hear all parties in normal conversation!
Excellent whiskey/bourbon selections and the meal was superb! I’ll be back! Would be perfect for a special occasion and a business meeting.
It was nice to have a quiet meal with our dear friends from NC that we were treating to a meal. They liked the atmosphere and enjoyed the food. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to our requests. The only negative was that our reservation was for 5 p.m. and when we tried to enter - the door was locked. My husband went into the lobby to try and find out why we couldn't get in. Shortly after he returned, someone opened the doors for us to enter. Any time we want a quiet atmosphere and great food - the Wellington will be our first choice!
Shocked we haven’t visited Wellington’s sooner. Years ago we tried it.. it was ok. Our recent visit was really nice across the board. We will return!!
We had a reservation for 6:30 PM and upon arrival, the restaurant was so noisy that we could not hear anyone speaking from the other side of the table. Apparently, there was a frat party going on at the bar and it was packed with college kids drinking and being obnoxiously loud. Also, the table we were sat at was directly in front of the kitchen window and it was extremely smoky. We ended up having to find a last minute reservation at another restaurant on the other side of town. If a restaurant knows there will be a massive influx of fraternity members who will cause such a noise that others cannot eat a meal or hold a conversation, they need to notify people ahead of time so plans can be changed in a timely manner.
Food was excellent. Service was excellent. The noise was through the roof. Our table was close to the bar and there was a convention going on that weekend. The bar was full of drunk men and they were so loud we could not hear each other talk.
Always a great place for a date night with great food and nice atmosphere.
I have eaten in a few fine restaurants, Ruth Chris in San Francisco, Top of the World in Las Vegas. Wellington is one of the best we have ever tried. The service was spot-on and the ambience was fantastic. The only thing that I would say could have been better was the loudness of the live music. Although we enjoyed the music at times it was hard for my wife and I to talk. But overall we loved it and look forward to dining there again.
Valentines dinner with my wife. Good dinner, good service. Nothing crazy. Would recommend for most occasions..
It remains our favorite place for brunch and special dinners out. We have never been disappointed.
Had a business dinner there. Very accommodating, great food and service
The food was definitely not worth the price. I'd recommend J Frank's in Bristol.
