Wellington Court Restaurant + Catering
Totally excellent in every way!
Continues to impress on every visit
Great starter, carrot, apple soup with candied pecans with fresh focaccia. Super wine selection, including some I have never tried. Enjoyed Ravine’s Sand and Gravel blend. Yum!
I tell people that wellington Court is the best restaurant in St catharines but we were a victim of a bad seating situation. Out for a special occassion dinner, we (a couple) were seated beside a large family with two small children who shrieked and hollored most of the time. There were 2 other tables for two in the adjoining room that we could have been offered.
The service was very good and Ross midgley's cooking is suberb. Unfortunately the evening was marred by a total lack of ambience.
Great experience . Smaller menu but excellent choices something for everyone. Chef is outstanding and accomadation. Service was excellent. Will go back and recommend it.
We had been recommended to this restaurant by friends who eat out a lot, so I'm not sure if it was just a bad kitchen night or its regular standard.
It was a prix fixe menu from Valentines Day - already disappointed because no where on its website did it say that. Limited choices of food - good for restaurant's bottom line, not so much for the diner - unless you're Pearl Morrisette and it's been lovingly curated.
Do we give it another try? Not sure
Beautiful food, exceptional service, overall just an amazing experience. We will be back!
There were some unfortunate experiences that were had on the night in question. Though we showed up on time as per our reservation we had to wait for our table still, and there is really no where to wait. We had to dodge patrons and wait staff while people navigated between the upstairs and downstairs. Also I ordered the lobster bisque, as well as the prawn and lobster risotto. The bisque it would seem broke, and while flavourful as it was runny and not characteristic of a bisque at all. I had to send the risotto back the as the rice was not cooked and basically had to watch my partner eat while I waited for them to make another one. The entire experience was a more negative one than positive one, and because of this I feel I will not be back.
Great food and service. All four meals were excellent.
Had a great time at Wellington court. I was dining alone and my server was attentive, friendly but knew that I was also looking to be independent and have my space. The food was excellent, but the chicken a little too salty for my taste. Their split pea soup was amazing, however and if they have it as a feature on the menu I’d highly recommend it. Also great cocktails!!!!
As always , the tastes are perfect. The menu is small but covers all the tastes I might want. Music lovely and not intrusive. Service great. A great meal experience.
Did miss the mushrooms on toast!
dinner was fabulous and the waitress was wonderful
excellent food. excellent service. Nice to meet people
A place for excellent food and attentive service. My wife and I choose Wellington Court
regularly for our New Year's Eve meal out.
First time there but heard lots of good things. Service was great, environment was comfortable and food was very good with a very reasonable wine list. We would definitely return!
Our dinner was wonderful... every dish was carefully crafted and delicious, and setting and service was perfect. Highlights included the smoked scallops with savoury bread pudding, the pickerel, the brussel sprouts, and last but definitely not least the beyond amazing mushrooms and polenta. All excellent! Would highly recommend this restaurant to return to again and again.
Went with a group of 6 friends. Made reservations before, which they accommodated at the right time. They have a good selection of local wines, however no choices aside from local. The menu only had a few options. I had the Duo of Beef, which was out of this world!! Our server was awesome. Prices were ecpensive. It was truly a fine dining experience.
We had a great experience at Wellington Court for an annual friends Christmas dinner. Our food was phenomenal from appetizer to dessert.
Lovely birthday lunch. Delicious food ,friendly, knowledgeable and efficient staff. Thank-you Sherry.
Our evening was just right in most respects. But what is off-putting is that the Open Table request for 7:00 was met with the choice of 6:30 or 7:30.
We took the earlier option, at the end of a very busy week, but although the food and service were both great, there really did not seem to be the traffic that would justify “locking out” 7:00 that evening.
Food excellent. A notch above the typical restaurants we frequent!
Wellington Court has been my favourite place to dine since it opened!!
I’ve never been disappointed.
Fantastic Meal! The house pate melted in my mouth!
The restaurant is fantastic. The owner was also helping the staff and is very proficient. It would be a better experience if the chef would find a roast beef or steak sandwich to include on the lunch menu.
Very good as usual food outstanding and nice live music on that occasion
Wellington Court restaurant was a lovely spot to have dinner for my significant and I to celebrate our first anniversary! Right on the edge of downtown St. Catherine's, it is quite convenient to go from the station and have a nice stroll to the restaurant. It gives the feel of a quaint, quiet and cozy place to have dinner. There were very few tables for some couples and groups, but overall small - which was great for conversation as the volume was not very loud. Service was exceptional, which was fast, polite and helpful. However what was most delightful was the quality of the food which was absolutely delicious. It was easy to tell the ingredients were well prepared, and attention was given to preparing our food. Every bite along with the sauces it was served with was top notch. For five dollars I would definitely recommend the fingerlings, they were absolutely exceptional as a side dish. Overall would definitely recommend eating at this restaurant to a friend!
Has been one of our go-to places for decades, but menu was uninspired, service absolutely deplorable and food so-so. It was a Saturday night and almost no other diners. It would appear we aren’t the only ones to have noticed the decline.
Just tons of flies and gnats flying around screwing up the ambience.
This is one of our favorite restaurants on the Niagara Peninsula. Last night may have been the 4th time we've gone since May. Normally the food is delicious! Wasn't as exciting as usual last night, particularly the sticky toffee pudding and the chocolate dessert. The noise level was also very loud last night. Adding something to absorb the noise level would be an excellent idea! But we'll still keep going as no place can be perfect every time and we've enjoyed Wellington Court very much for many years.
The staff were super and the good fantastic
Great Friday night out with friends. We sat in the lounge on the patio. The DJ was fantastic - the music set a fun and funky vibe. Food was delicious (the cauliflower tempura and zucchini parm are incredible) and our (many) cocktails were amazing (the Negroni 2.0 especially so). Service was excellent - prompt, professional and friendly! Will definitely return.
Outstanding from greet to bill!!!
First time visit. Was an anniversary dinner.
Wonderful secluded spot in the corner with soft music, delectible lighting and comfy decor.
No salt & pepper on the table!? None needed!!! The food served was Gordon Ramsey worthy! Highly, highly, highly recommend. Thank you for making our special day so memorable.
Spent several enjoyable hour visiting with friends. The food was excellent, the service friendly and appropriately timed. Will definitely be back.
Very nice lunch ... I had the perch sandwich ,very nice proportions ,well presented ,very nice service and very good value (in my opinion), recently redecorated.... giving the ambience a fresher feel ! I was very impressed and intend to come back more often , lunch menu was nicely balance as well ....giving a good number of options as well as catering to vegans, vegetarian's as well as those people that like the their meat
To celebrate our daughter's birthday...delicious food and outstanding, friendly service.
Outstanding food, friendly, prompt service, lovely dinner jazz in the background. Our fourth visit and by no means our last!
I have been around, traveled all over the world and still do, eaten at a number of fine restaurants, from NYC to Istanbul, Hong Kong and all points in between. This is a wonderful restaurant and you will not be disappointed.
Always a consistently excellent meal.
We have dined here many times and are always impressed.
Great food, NOISE RUINED OUR DINNER . 94 Decibels at max!!!! . An amplified speaker laying phat beats in the tiny central dining room. We had the misfortune to go on a damp Friday evening, so the young regular patio DJ set up his speaker ( larger than the tabletops for two) INSIDE in the centre room, and cranked it . At 8:00 pm. Retired academics at tables for four, a family with two small children, a romantic couple in their fifties.
We all agreed the noise was not enhancing our dining. Three times we asked the manager/owner to turn it down, and three times the DJ fiddled with the knobs and cranked it back up.I guess he wanted the tables in the front and back rooms to hear his brilliantly curated self-absorbed set, but I was in a small room with hard walls hearing nothing but reverb and the incomprehensible sounds of shouted conversations around me. I left before finishing my main dish and stood outside until my friends finished theirs and settled the check. We skipped the planned desserts and digestifs.
Stupid owner came out and apologized repeatedly, but refused to open the patio and let us take desserts out there--the storm had passed-- because then EVERYONE would want to go outside. Huh? And although I pointed out my decibel app with the 94 red zone reading, and that she was paying the man but losing the income, she wouldn't TELL him to STFU and go home.
PS. I'm 61 years old, excellent hearing, not ancient, and with a son who's a professional drummer . No amplification above conversation level should EVER be in a room that size. Even an acoustic guitar or piano would be iffy as people come to Wellington Court for great food and great service and the expectation of being able to have a conversation with their friends or family.
I have eaten here before and service and food were excellent but this trip was disappointing. They were out of two of the four white wines....no Sauvignon blanc and no Pinot Grigio. I ordered salmon and received a two by three inch end piece. Even by lunch standards, that was a very poor serving. The vegetables were excellent. We did not stay for dessert. My last experience was very good so this was a very disappointing visit, especially since I had really talked it up with my husband.
