Webster House Ratings and Reviews
Our dinner at Webster House was lovely. The building is spectacularly restored and beautifully decorated. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. Beer selection is limited and my steak was just a touch overcooked (but still extremely yummy.) Otherwise, everything was perfect. Be sure to have a look around in the shop on the first floor before going upstairs to eat as they have an unique selection of clothing, decorative items, and antique furniture.
We enjoyed Webster House to celebrate our 36th anniversary. I had to change the time twice and the day once and it was so easy to do with the Open Table ap. The ambiance was perfect for our occasion. The late lunch time was very nice as we ended up being the only diners for most the time we were there. Gary was our most attentive server who never missed a beat providing great menu insight and adding to a special time for us. He even placed a candle in the chocolate beet cake with great effect.
The food was not secondary to the sevice as the lunch combo and the famous Webster house burger did not dissapoint. If you see the tomato basil soup on the menu when you're there, order it! it was subllime in every way.
Hat's off to everyone at Webster House as we were able to find unique gifts for our children and grandson as a bonus to a fantastic dining experience.
I took my wife here to celebrate her birthday, we made sure to put a note in our Open Table request and they never acknowledged or did anything for her birthday. Our server seemed very inattentive but did make good recommendations. She prepared our drinks that did not taste very good at all. Not only was the flavor not great but there was also hardly any alcohol in them. I even let the server know that it was my wifes birthday and she didn't do anything for it. Later, about 15 minutes after we sat down another table of 4 sat next to us and were also celebrating a birthday that she did acknowledge. We have eaten here one other time and had a wonderful experience, but this time was far from wonderful. Probably won't be back soon.
The Webster House building is beautiful inside and out. The restaurant layout is unique (in a good way) and adds to the dining experience. Everything we ordered was delicious and the wine special that night a great deal.
Dan was our server and was very friendly, personable and gave us the right amount of attention: not too little, not too much. In between pleasant casual conversation he made several menu recommendations, all of which we really enjoyed. And although we'd already decided to order the evening's wine special he recommended we try it since we told him we were leaning towards wine.
The Webster House is definitely worth a visit even if not eating- but I highly recommend getting a reservation and enjoying the food. The building itself is worth seeing and the first floor retail space has some very nice and interesting items.
Dining at the Webster House is a slice of 'old Kansas City' elegance. The food is consistently good, the service is stellar, and you can't beat unlimited mimosas, made with fresh-squeezed orange juice, for Sunday bunch. Before or after dining, strolling the shopping rooms is a fun way to continue a nice chat with a friend. Go, and enjoy this timeless gem.
My husband and I ordered from the brunch menu. He had a lamb dish with pureed root vegetables and a nice sauce...it was delicious, altho the lamb croquette seemed a bit overcooked. I had the beef eggs benedict without the meat. It had chard and they added extra in place of the meat and it was way too much. The eggs were poached and perfectly done. it was a little tasteless. I was less than impressed. The ambiance was lovely and the waitress was very pleasant. Overall a good experience except I think the food good be better.
This was our first visit to Webster House and we loved it! The food was amazing, the service impeccable, and the building is beautiful. It was fun looking around the shop before dining, and the location was perfect for dinner prior to an event at the Kauffman Theater. We sat in the room with the open kitchen and it was fun watching g great chefs at work. The price was reasonable for what we got. We will be back!
Wanted to try the curry however the waiter said it had a fair amt of kick. I appreciated his honesty. Got the duck confit crepes. Expected them to be warm however they were cool like the accompanying salad. All wonderful, especially the chocolate creme brulee.
Very classy restaurant. Consistently excellent service. Bar lounge is beautiful. Hostess was so nice. Host took our coats and checked without asking. They anticipate the patrons’ needs. Food was above average. Flourless chocolate cake serving was skimpy. But portions overwuse wete generous.
We had a great time celebrating our 5th anniversary there. Kelsey was our waitress and she did an outstanding job. The deserts are a bit small for $10.00. I ordered the flourless tort to share with my husband and was a bit surprised when it came out. It was 1/4 of the size I thought it would be! Overall, it was fantastic.
I loved everything about Webster House. The building and interior are stunning. I received a very warm welcome from the hostess. I was there for Restaurant Week and the service was impeccable.
I had a fried Brussels sprouts starter followed by salmon crepes. Out of this world.
I am a frequent visitor to Webster House. My most recent visit was not as satisfactory. First we were seated in one of their dining rooms with only one other pair of diners. The hostess seated us right beside that couple. I realize I could have asked to be seated somewhere else, but why should I need to do that when the rest of the room was empty. I ordered a glass of Riesling and it had oxidized. Really? The food was great, it always is. Service was fine, but not as outstanding as in previous visits.
I will go again and hope for better results.
We visited Webster House during KC Restaurant Week. We were treated warmly by the staff and made quite welcome. The setting was unique and historic, with the dark woodwork and stained glass transom windows. The cuisine was fresh and delicious with some unexpected combinations that were pleasing to the palate.
Fantastic place we did restaurant week there and everything was superb from greeting at the door to great service as well as amazing food. The Webster House is on our list for dining in the KC area you will not be disappointed , we also loved shopping on the lower level where the shops are as they have some very unique items for all for both men & women .
