I took my mother here for brunch before the symphony. We loved it! Although a bit pricey for our budget (we knew that going in and planned accordingly) we were both surprised to see reasonably priced items we could pick from. The portions were excellent. Many times high priced restaurants charge more and give you less. That was not the case at Webster House. We both left full and happy. Our waitress Danielle was very prompt and courteous. She wasn't in our face but always just a moment away. Wonderful experience all around.
Absolutely excellent! The staff truly go above and beyond to accommodate you. Words can not express just how wonderful the food, atmosphere and staff really are. I highly recommend this place!
Great service by our server Michelle. The food was delicious. We had the burger and someone had the chicken salad. Both were great. The dessert plum cake was ok.
Recently dined her for our anniversary. Everything was wonderful!! The food was excellent as well as a very knowledgable and friendly staff.
A little more crowded than my last visit since it appears many more tables have bean added, but overall, a great experience.
I've always enjoyed Webster House and my most recent visit was no exception. Food and presentation was outstanding, we had salmon and scallops, both were delicious. Chicken livers and risotto for appetizers--we would recommend both. Service was solid.
Lovely! Shop is beautiful, too. Dinner was as tasty as beautiful. Makes KC great!!
We love The Webster House! Great atmosphere, shopping and of course the food! Service is always good; however this trip the bar service was very slow. Don't know if it was the bar or our sever. We had to remind him at least twice for our second drink order.
Wonderful as usual..can always count on the quality.
The setting is lovely. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Our server Craig was amazing. He was attentive and helped us stay on track to leave on time for a show.
Delicious! Service was great! We were going to the symphony and the waitress was very accommodating in getting us our appetizer, soup/salads and the entree in a comfortable but timely fashion.
Loved it! The food was excellent and our waitress was phenomenal. It is my favorite lunch spot!
Only two issues. 1. Requested a private table but was place in the middle of a noisy room with other people. Even a side table or one by the window would’ve been better. Absolutely no privacy and could hear several conversations a mere few feet from our table. 2. My dates pork chop was badly undercooked. Awkward eating mine while she waited. Could’ve been handled a little better.
Otherwise neat old school house with a fun shop and beautiful woodwork. Unique menu and presentation. Waiter was very friendly
Wonderful place to celebrate a birthday! Delicious, innovative food. Pleasant, welcoming waitstaff. Beautiful room!
Great food and great service in a wonderful atmosphere
The building is just beautiful! The service was excellent! The food was fantastic. We started with the potstickers and they were outstanding! Flavorful and tasted like everything was made from scratch. We shared the pork chop dinner and a pasta entree. Both were delicious! The pork was really flavorful and moist and cooked perfectly. The pasta was also made from scratch and cooked perfectly. Also shared a delicious dessert of smoked banana ice cream. I highly recommend this restaurant! You can also shop in their adorable boutique on the ground floor!
Food was wonderful, service was exceptional however tables seemed very close together. It was impossible to have a private conversation.
The food was superb! I had the salmon, which I would highly recommend. We sat in the "library"-bar room and it was cozy. The prices are on the high end, but for a special treat, it is worth it!
Perfect place for dining before or after a concert at the Kauffman Center.
We were here before a performance of the Kansas City Symphony. We were served promptly and had plenty of time to walk to the Kauffman Center, just a block away. We didn't need to rush nor were we rushed by our waitress who was attentive, welcoming, knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu and a delight in general. Her name was Michelle. It was a delightful start to a delightful evening.
Really enjoyed it will definitely be going back.
The food was good but the service was lousy. Our waitress appear to be medicated and should find another profession. We brought our out-of-town guests to the Webster house because we thought it would be a special treat. While the food was good the experience was less than satisfactory.
Must have been severely understaffed. Waitress seemed to have been called in on short notice. Was covering 9 tables. Food was not warm. Poached egg on steak Benedict was room temp. Steak was unseasoned and tough. Potato was supposed to be smashed but was mainly whole so very starchy. Greens and carmelized onions were not warm and did not add anything to the dushk. Hash was just crisped pork and breakfast potatoes. Hardly hash.
French toast was great. Peanut butter and jelly. Had to leave for an appointment and waitress was overwhelmed because manager was running around plating food. Took 30 minutes, no exaggeration, to get our bill resolved.
Ambience was classic and charming. Feels like a nostalgic Hallmark store in an antique home. The noise level was overwhelming though. I couldn't hear the person I was dining with that was 2 feet in front of me. The food was not that good. For starters, we ordered the Flash Fried Fresh Calamari, Soy-Caramel Aioli, House-made Kimchi, and the lump crab appetizers. The calamari was ok. It had an aftertaste as if it was cooked in old burned oil. The soy-caramel aoli as very tasty. The lump crab appetizer was very bland, as if the crab had no seasoning at all. It is an appetizer for one, not two, as it was approximately 1/2 cup of lump crab meat. For our entree, we both ordered the Kobe beef steak analogue (because I cannot recall the actual name, but is was described to us by our waiter as essentially Kobe Beef), with red onion infused mashed potatoes, green beans, oxtail fritter, and blue cheese. The steak was beautifully charred, but unfortunately the char was actually very hard and tasted burnt. The texture combination of the thick panko breading and the extremely tender (and tasty) oxtail meat was strange, but was overall ok. The green beans were not very flavorful, again tasted as if there was no seasoning. Beautiful presentation but many of the dishes were lacking in flavor. Our waiter was wonderful and service was polite and prompt. Beautiful place. I would go to explore the shops and the building, but would not recommend dining there.
Wonderful food and evening. Craig was an awesome server . . Quiet, not crowded.
There for my mother in law's 70th. Michelle was absolutely charming and took great care of us. Food was awesome. Will always go back.
Great service from Danielle.
The food was good and the service was great! The peanut butter chocolate bomb was truly "da bomb".
It was a dinner for our anniversary. When we were seated the menus we received had "Happy Anniversary" printed across the top. (Nice touch!) A good variety of things covering all of the expected spectrum of choices (beef, pork, fowl, seafood, and vegetarian). Gluten Free items have a little "gf" by them. It was a Thursday night and the room were in was very sparsely seated so it was very quiet. There was absolutley no hurry to get through the meal.
I will visit again. This was a great spot with all kinds of great surprises!
I took 2 employees to lunch for a special celebration. Webster House was WONDERFUL! They exceeded my email requests with my reservation.
The hostess greeted us with congratulations to my 2 employees. We were seated to a table where their menus had a personal message to them on the top: "congratulations to Susie and Connie".
That was a thrill! It started a fun and fabulous lunch celebration. The food & service continued the 5-start event. I' totally RECOMMEND this as a place for special celebration & recognition. Webster House, you rock!
Love this place! Danielle was awesome!
Took my wife on the date. We both had the most wonderful time. Great Fine Dining. Everything was perfect.
Service was spectacular. Drinks were spot on. (the Bourbon Ball desert drink was AMAZING). The food was all very good. My only issue was the pork chop was slightly undercooked. Everything else was Spectacular!!
Our server, David and his team did an excellent job. The food was very flavorful, well prepared and presentation was excellent. I would recommend this and we will be back again soon.
Good food but pricey.....I’d go back but not as often as I might if it were a bit cheaper
It was our first time there. We will definitely be back!
We had a wonderful cozy dinner. Our waiter was phenomenal. We will definitely be back.
Beautiful place and a warm ambiance. We were there for my birthday. The only negative is the tables are very close together. We could easily hear the couples conversations on either side of us, as it was almost like a picnic table three on each side. But I would return, just not for a special occasion.
As always, Webster House is a wonderful experience. The occasion was our 44th anniversary. We enjoyed prosecco, a red and white wine--all excellent--and had the arugula salad, soft shell crab and Skuna Bay salmon--all were absolutely delicious. As an anniversary treat, we were given a complimentary and very tasty profiterole dessert. The atmosphere was quiet and comfortable. Michelle, our server, could not have been better--friendly, courteous, informative, and attentive. She made Webster House feel like our family restaurant.
My wife and I celebrated her birthday at Webster House and could not have been more pleased with the service, food and ambience. The tempura soft shell crab was perfectly done. The pork chop was well seasoned and flavorful. Desert and drinks topped off a great evening.
A large group in the adjoining room was having their cocktail hour during our meal so the noise level was a bit higher than we would have liked, but no question, we’ll be back.
