I had tried to make reservations on several occasions and Wayfare was always booked on Fridays and Saturdays. I can now see why. I like everything about this place. The fried chicken was possibly the best I've ever tasted. The service was excellent and the ambience was perfect. We'll be back.

Great place overall, setting is old school dark wood, upstairs dining is comfortable, service was excellent and food very good. No wonder this restaurant has been in business for so long
We were six seniors, we sat downstairs...big mistake. Our table(booth) was uncomfortable! Our server rushed us in the beginning, with ordering etc! He was very inattentive! The drinks and food were excellent except for the whipped potatoes, they were soupy...ugh!! My husband and I have been before, it was lovely! This visit was disappointing!!
Food is less than average, very disappointing. Basically mediocre bar food at high prices. Felt like more of a volume approach than quality. I am not a foodie but still expect a little attention to creating a special dish but that did not happen here. I do NOT recommend eating here.
Hostesses were rude and arrogant. Wait staff in the bar were the same. Our table server was fantastic, but our introductory experience with the rudeness upon entering and waiting for our table soured the evening.
Our dinner was really good. Best of all, service was excellent. We had drinks at the bar while our table was readied and the bartender was engaging and even found someone who could recall the name of another great restaurant that occupied this space years ago (Rubicon). The hostess agreed to sit us in a comfy booth instead of banishing us to the tables upstairs! And our server was personable and professional. As for the drinks - excellent cocktails! The food was very good and the portions were larger than expected so we had leftovers. The fried chicken was very good, but I'm not sure it knocked my socks off. The burgers were excellent, as were the roasted brussels sprouts. We had a few starters to share and all were tasty and large portions, too. All in all, a fun evening.
The food was fantastic! I got the fried chicken and it was delicious! Lightly fried and season well. This was a big portion. My husband got the pork chop special and that was also very good. The donuts for dessert we're amazing and served with cranberry sauce and creme fresche, so it was just the right balance of flavors.
One of our favorite places to have a nice dinner. The food and staff are amazing.

Great service, great food, well worth the time spent. I do not know why this restaurant plays music at lunch though. Loud is subjective, present is not. You notice the music.
It's a crowded restaurant, and the most important thing to hear are the people at your table (not some random soundtrack).
I understand if music plays before the doors open, or during quiet times during operating hours - but rarely have I found a business lunch to be enhanced by a soundtrack.
My suggestion is to lose it and allow guests to enjoy the food, the room and each other's company.
Ambiance was great and the noise level wasn’t too bad. Cocktails were solid but not necessarily noteworthy.
Service was solid but the food was a big disappointment. Pork shank was so salty it was not edible. Hamburger was unevenly cooked and over cooked in spots. Cioppino clams and muscles were tiny tiny with barely any meat.
Food was excellent, thoroughly enjoyed the chicken.
Listen up Everyone! Don’t bother eating anywhere else except HOPR and Harris’. Wayfare Tavern is by far THE BEST PLACE TO EAT IN SF! The Brussel Sprouts are to die for! The risotto with mushrooms is pure perfection! The short ribs bathed in polenta is #1! The burrata whipped potatoes were delicious! The filet mignon was cooked to perfection along with the scalloped potatoes! My boyfriend is from Chi Town and tries the fried chicken everywhere he goes and he said hands down, this was the best place! You are wasting your time and money going anywhere else!
We arrived for an 8:30 reservation. We were promptly seated. This is my 4th visit to Wayfare and I have had nothing but wonderful experiences. This time our service was a bit lacking, but nothing too serious. We enjoyed the food and appetizers. And as always those damn popovers!

The food and service were very good, but prices are expensive. And for those prices I got to suffer through a business lunch with so much background noise that it was exhausting to have a conversation. I cancelled a forthcoming lunch there for this reason.

This was my second visit to Wayfare (first was 5 years ago) while visiting San Franciso. My son and I had an amazing dinner. He raved about the salmon, especially the French lentils and the blood orange beurre blanc. I enjoyed the fried chicken and Brussels sprouts. Huge portion of chicken, so I will enjoy it as leftovers for lunch! We will be sure to return the next time we are in SF!
This place is usually VERY noisy, but since it was Presidents’ Day...it was really nice! Server could have been more attentive, but we had a great dinner
Food was amazing. Accommodated a food allergy. Loved the aesthetics of the restaurant. But have to admit the waiter was very abrupt and in some cases rude detracting from the experience (when we tried to order appetizers he insisted that we order our appetizers and main dish at same time, reached over me and grabbed my glass from the top drinking rim to move it in order to place a dish on the table, etc.). Another small note is I requested a booth in our reservation but they sat us at a table when there was an empty booth close by. Had to ask to be seated at the booth instead and wait while hostess checked with the manager (my husband is 6’6” tall and small dining chairs do not fit him), In the end, we were given the booth but at this price point, these details should be acknowledged.
We had a late reservations. 830pm. We got seated right away. And our server Ed was very nice n his suggestions were awesome. Their bread was delicious. Our Lobster was expensive but worth it. The Organic fried chicken was so good. Next time, I want to try their steak. Over all the appetizers and main course was delicious. With drinks. For 2, we spent about $200 but it was worth it. I would def come back here. I can’t wait to visit Tyler Florence other restaurant.

This experience from start to finish was EXQUISITE. The flavor profiles on this menu were so compatible, flavors bursting in your mouth without ever conflicting or overpowering one another. The service amazing. The restaurant BEAUTIFUL. The drinks incredible. We did brunch on a Sat.
We started with Bacon Bloody Mary's, Deviled eggs, and Buratta toast. ALL BEYOND DELICIOUS. We shared a Butter Lettuce Salad with probably the best version of Green Goddess dressing I have ever had. I ate the Red Flannel Hash... No words.. Perfectly poached egg, PERFECT amount of Bernaise, lean corned beef, sweet, sweet red beets and soft&sweet yukon gold potatoes on the inside, just right crispy on the outside. My husband had the famous Chicken & Waffles... They aren't called the best in the country for nothing..
We also had a a dirty martini and a Tavern Sour... Those Bartenders know how to make perfect drinks...

This restaurant is absolutely not worth it. The food quality is terrible compared to similarly priced restaurants.
Their “famous” fried chicken was bland and dry. The mashed potatoes were basically a soup (I tried to get a forkful to taste it and it all dripped right through the fork). The only good stuff on the menu are the drinks and you’ll need to consume several to numb the pain of paying a ridiculous amount of money for such crappy food. I liked the ambience and our waiter was pretty good but beyond that... I’ll never go back there again and I’ll never recommend this place to anyone.
We were welcomed to the table with a “Happy Anniversary” card from the team. Everything about the meal, service and wait time was great! Especially considering that it was Valentine’s Day and a Friday night. This was our third visit to Wayfare Tavern (including our wedding reception) and we will most definitely be back again.
Great food. Could not taste the chartreuse in the root beer float. A little bummed about that. Otherwise, it was a solid experience.
Went with my co-workers. Everyone was super happy with their food. Had the bahn mi; it was excellent! Pickled veggies cut the richness of friend chicken. Perfect combo!
