Waverly's Steak House - Cannery Casino & Hotel Ratings and Reviews
The guy who served us our dinner was outstanding. Very professional and a very friendly guy.
The steak that was served was salty. I ordered medium rare but it was well done and kinda tough. That is why there is salt and pepper on the table to use as preferred by customer. Food was below average.
Good atmosphere, good menu, but size portions are questionable. I ordered a 16 ounce Ribeye and it was surprisingly thin. I sent it back and received another thin steak. It was properly prepared but for a gourmet Steakhouse, I would have expected a thicker cut, especially for $32.
We had an excellent meal. Darryl was our waiter and he was superb. One of my friends took a picture of her prime rib to send to her husband as she said it was the best she'd ever tasted. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone, for any occasion.
Our server, Darryl, was excellent as usual. We tried the 3 course meal and choose the shrimp appetizer and I had the brisket and my husband had the fried chicken. The shrimp and entrees were very good. The serving size were good and I even took home some of my meal.
I gamble at The Cannery Frequently and often receive Comps to this (or any other) of their eateries. The Food has deteriorated exponentially and I even consider the Tip(since it's not the fault of a good wait staff) too much for this eatery. At the last visit - you could definitely notice the quality of beef had been brought down a grade. The Potatoes au gratin were cooked early in the day and had turned into a dry greasy blob (low quality cheese) by opening time. The scallop platter (30+ dollars for 5 scallops when there is a glut of scallops) while cooked perfectly, is obscenely expensive for an off-strip property. When they say baked potato - be careful - many times all you'll get is a strip of baked potato. I'm moving my gaming dollars elsewhere - where there are far better comps and dining options. The Restaurant is under new (and Pompous) management and should be replaced by a TGIF chain more aligned to their market.
I used to recommend Waverly's to everyone. However, the last few experiences have not been as nice. They changed the size of their sides. The mashed potatoes are literally 3-4 bites. This past meal was the worst in ever had at a location that I used to enjoy so much. The sides were extemely small and the bread was dry. We mentioned the dry bread and nothing was done. The side house salad was a tiny pile with mostly shredded iceberg lettuce. The appetizer potato skin was 1/2 potato. The grilled potato was one small slice out of a baked potato, small and nothing special. Disappointed.
Seemed the server assigned to our table (African-American gentleman) paid little mind to our table, but this in my opinion was mostly due to a large party in the accompanying room. I would say our dinner would have concluded in an hour and a half but we were there for nearly 2.5 hours mostly waiting on our server to even acknowledge us for our order, bill, to-go boxes and to run our card (which he dropped at the bartender to run). So my assumption is either he was not prepared for the workload of another 2 top on top of his table, or he was just not interested in servicing our table since we are younger and would not leave a sufficiently large tip for him. I like to give the benefit of the doubt and think that he was trying his best since I’ve been there before, but a server in this caliber of dining should have been more attentive. Very disappointed being that we come all the time with other family members and have had no problems in the past.
I have eaten at Waverly several times. This was not such a great experience. I had to send some of the food back (which I have nerve had to do better). And, the food lacked seasoning and taste. However, as usual the host and waiter were great. Very attentive and apologetic. Just not the experience that I am used to food wise.
As always our experience was wonderful. The food was exceptional & our service could not have been better. We like the regular menu better than the new $25--3 course menu but I'm sure it appeals to others, The ribeye is very tender & the seafood is tasty. Paired with wine the dining is superb!
Service was very good although some of the waiters/waitresses had issues in their attire.
Oysters were old and tasteless. One was sour and did not swallow.
Waiter did not ask why one was left.
Strawberry salad was delicious.
Veal crab roll was pretty but lacked any flavor.
The prime rib was cooked perfectly but just an ok flavor.
The chocolate lava cake & ice cream as well as the coffee were wonderful.
All in all we would not return as it just was not a great experience.
They featured a three course special with about five choices. I had gotten a voucher for a free one and bought the other. We both, had different dinners. My husbands brisket entree was served with gobs of fat. Not just fat along edges of meat, gobs of fat. When put in a separate dish it filled the saucer. Absolutely unforgiveable for a presentation of food on a dish like that. I had the baby backs which were certainly not fall off the bone ready to eat. Waverlys getting very disappointing, quality and service just not what it used to be sorry to say. At this point would not recommend to a friend anymore.
Usually I would give it a 5-Star rating, but the food was not as good during previous visits. They must have had a change in chefs. My Ribeye was just OK, had lots of fat and tendons. It lack the charcoal favor I usually get from a steak at Waverly's. The swordfish was good and the almond chicken was good, but small. Just was overall sub par.
I ordered the ribeye and the lady ordered the porterhouse. Medium well seemed tougher than most well steaks i've had. I cooked a better steak my first time cooking one! (That didn't go so well!) They must've had the lower end choice cuts of meat. Guess I shouldn't complain about $35. If you are planning to visit here, go to The Buthcher Block, have them cut you your favorite "prime" steak to your preffered thickness (should cost you around $60), take it home and cook it. Trust me, you won't be dissapointed. Oh, did I mention, we were extremely sleepy afterwards. Almost as if they injected tryptophan in the steak. Never been that tired after eating a steak.
