About
Enjoyed our experience, friendly staff, good food.
A little on the expensive side but guess it’s the city.
Pretty good choices. Host was extremely nice as well.
It’s tasty but super expensive. We ended up using double of normal Friday dining!
We returned to Watty and Meg after a few years. The food had been satisfactory. But this time it was outstanding. Delicious trout with grits - delicate combination of textures and flavors. Steak and roast chicken were great, as well. Blondie sundae was not the gooey run of the mill. The ingredients were independent of one another, yet combined into a wonderful dessert. Chocolate sorbet was a generous portion. Outstanding service. Eager to return!
The food was terrible.
Not for dinner - food was good, drinks were good, service was okay (sometimes very slow/tough to get the server over). But it was empty! On a Saturday night I would have expected a more upbeat atmosphere. Definitely put a damper on things.
Nice place, but VERY warm. Had to wrap early and leave do to it. Good food.
We had dinner here on Saturday night and for a last minute neighborhood reservation, it exceeded my expectations. Has a sort of old Brooklyn pub feel, bigger than it appears with a back room. The menu was creative and everyone's choices turned out to be excellent. Interesting cheeseburger wonton appetizer plus great salald with feta and almonds. Our entree choices included trout, chicken (with pancakes) and a veggie burger--all delicious and fresh with good accompaniments. My husband loved the chocolate babka bread pudding and even the coffee was good (I find this is often not the case even in fine restaurants, the coffee is either weak or has a burned taste from sitting too long), but the coffee here was perfect.
All in all a very good meal and we will return.
This is now my go to restaurant whenever I’m eating out in the downtown Brooklyn area!
Great neighborhood find. Delicious, gourmet food and excellent service.
Good food, dessert could’ve had more of a wow factor for its price. It was energetic in the front area, however they sat us in the back where is was a bit too quiet. Service was very good, as were the specialty cocktails.
Good food nice ambience
Fun neighborhood!
Not as great as it used to be. Service was awful. Waiter never checked on us nor did he ask if we needed or wanted anything. Food was not as good as it once was. They’re in need of some new menu items and a good cleaning.
Great cocktails!
Food was very good however, the brunch menu was very limited.
Too many different spices for us that change the original taste of what is supposed to be
Nice neighborhood food. Good wine, good food, cozy environment.
Rob is th best server!
I’ve been going to watty and meg for years.
Watty & Meg is a delightful popular local hangout serving well seasoned pub food and creative cocktails with nice service.
Enjoyed the food. Satisfying portions. Cosy environment. Very friendly staff. Minor disappointment that our anniversary was not acknowledged as requested on opentable reservation. Would definitely return.
I wouldn't go back to Watty & Meg for all the tea in China. Mind you, the food is fine - maybe even good, but the experience was a massive turn off.
We were treated miserably by the floor manager and sever. The restaurant wasn't busy, but everything took a very long time, and the only positive interactions we had were with the busboy and food runner. We tipped both of them in cash before leaving, but I couldn't bring myself to leave a gratuity for our server.
Perhaps the worst part of the experience was the unnecessarily aggressive stance of the manager on duty. I made a reservation through Open Table and requested an outside table. Upon arrival we were informed, unapologetically, by said manager that the outdoor tables aren't available for reservation, and that we would have to wait for a table on the street. When we asked how long the wait for a table would be, she responded that she "wouldn't want to speculate on anyone's dining experience." We then proceeded to watch three tables sit before we did, even though we were told there was no one on the waitlist ahead of us. When we finally sat it was because other staff realized we'd been standing outside for a while and they didn't seem to know we were even waiting. The manager never came back to check in, see that we were set, etc.
I will not be returning for more of this. Between the rude manager and the waiter who couldn't care less, I was frustrated to be spending my money somewhere that customers aren't treated well and the staff doesn't seem to effectively communicate with one another. I'd suggest that you not spend your time or money there either.
Great appetizers, good burgers, drinks, and fries. Quick and friendly service. I was hesitant to try this place because I came here once before about two years ago and had a terrible experience - slow service, over an hours wait for appetizers, a burger so raw it was purple in the middle. They have definitely improved since then.
We had duck. Was very good. Overall very well done.
Watty & Meg does everything well, good food good drinks good service. This is a terrific neighborhood place and we always have a great time when we are there!
Great food! Attentive wait staff, Hostess was great. Gave us the best seat in the house. Very good at her job.
Wonderful dining experience from start to finish.
The gentleman who took care of us was a real pro.
Food and service were great, but atmosphere was spoiled by the numerous tables with noisy children.
Waitress was very friendly. The restaurant was very understaffed (on floor and in kitchen). Food took over an hour to come!
It's an excellent spot for groups, the decor is rustic-hip, and the staff makes everyone comfortable, even children. Having said that, it is rather overpriced for a menu that's not altogether inventive, especially for this trustafarian neighborhood. I wouldn't go here for a tete-a-tete, but, again, for large parties (5+), I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.
Read great reviews online and traveled to Brooklyn to meet our daughter for Mother’s Day along with the rest of the family. Food and service was excellent everything we ordered was delicious! Will definitely be back again.
Food was delicious must try the steak and fries, the pureed cauliflower, so good. If you are so lucky please try the special soft shell crabs. The staff is very friendly and service is quick.
I've been a fan for years and I've never wavered -- and neither has Watty & Meg. From a perfect burger to something more adventurous, the food is always delicious, the pace unhurried, and the service attentive but never cloying. I can recall specials, over the years: a textbook pulled pork sandwich, an endive-and-fennel slaw, a wild salmon that I'd order again in a minute -- and I don't care for salmon.
Very good food, gracious welcome and superb wait staff.
Kudos to Kelly & the bus man who gave exceptional service & help with our large party of 7.
Tasty, friendly, and swift , would go back again. And find more words for my review it a personal assistant to do it for me. Or not so this again.
Watty and Meg is friendly, low key and delightful. We had a cozy, delicious brunch. The huevos rancheros was excellent...and that whole grain bread with fig jam is worth a trip to carroll gardens. The decor is attractive; you feel like you are in a wood-lined library. We will definitely return on our next trip to Brooklyn!
the food was great
We had not been to Watty & Meg in a while, and tend to overlook it when deciding where to go in the neighborhood. But we decided to go recently and the food and service were excellent. We will definitely go more often. The menu is not extensive, but it is creative enough. We had the steak frites and a halibut that was a special; both were delicious! Our waiter was particularly good and had just the right balance of attention and leaving us to enjoy each other's company.
The food here was great. I had the corn chowder, flat iron steak and a side of home-made pickles.
What a fun place. We shared several small plates and dessert. Everything was delicious but especially the southern fried short ribs!!
