Watty & Meg Ratings and Reviews
Had a fab night . We are from the UK on our honeymoon, and found this great place whilst out walking. Service was exceptional, and we were given free dessert and coffee by our waiter, they didn't even know we were celebrating getting married. He was a great guy. We would highly recommend Watty and Megs the food was amazing. We'll probably go again before the end of of stay.
This is one of those places we enjoy it every time we go. We enjoy it with friends, we enjoy it with our kids, we enjoy it when we just hang out at the bar, and the service is always fantastic.
I have been to several events in their back area and they have been fantastic as well.
The music was too loud, causing each customer to raise their voices unnecessarily. We were three people and could barely hear one other at the table. The waitstaff was also clearly overwhelmed - We sat for over 30 minutes before our food order was taken (at which point they'd run out of one of the specials...) Each time plates of food were bused to us the lack of communication among staff was glaring. Our waiter was friendly enough, but made very apparent that he was in a constant hurry. He never stayed at our table for longer than was absolutely necessary and made us feel insignificant, rushing our questions and 'checking in' on us while en route to his next task.
Brunch was great. The kale and quinoa salad is loaded with flavor and texture; the pancakes are rich and nutty. Good, classic burger and fries too. Drinks are solid and the staff is tolerant (of the many kids who turn up) and much more attentive than in years past. Place has really improved in the last year or so. Highly recommended as an elevated neighborhood go-to.
Loved it! Food was great, staff was very nice; and for a Friday night it was very very calm; now I came right before closing so that may be the reason but I love calm/non-packed places and in NY it feels impossible to find this type of place (great food and quiet)
The food was disappointing. The veggie burger was mushy and for $17 I'd expect it to come with more than lettuce, tomato, and onion and two lettuce leaves masquerading as a salad. There are many other places in the neighborhood that server a better veggie burger and with good toppings, all for less than$15.
Two couples meet at Watty and Meg for Sunday brunch. We arrived when it opened and it was fairly empty throughout our entire meal.
The menu had a lot of nice choices, quite a few vegetarian. We ordered avocado omelette, pancakes, and vegetarian huevos rancheros. Everyone enjoyed the meal.
My one gripe about the restaurant is that they charge additional for bread. So, if you are getting an omelette or any egg dish, and would like bread with your meal, they charge for it. Sort of chintzy, if you ask me, and I would think it is not too expensive to put a basket with a few slices of bread in it, on the table.
