WATERTABLE PRIVATE DINING
Watertable Ratings and Reviews
5 stars on this one! We loved everything about this place; warm, chic atmosphere and the food and service sensational. Next time we venture down to Huntington beach and this restaurant, which is in the Hyatt Regency, we are going to stay overnight. This hotel and location is stunning.
Watertable specialized in serving basic food in a relaxed, elegant, and luxurious setting. The standouts were the "build it yourself" items on the right side of the menu where you could choose your fish or meat, sauce, and sides. Though perhaps looked down on by sophisticates, the quality of the fish and its preparation were outstanding, the same for the filet. Although perhaps lacking a bit of panache and professionalism, the service was solicitous and efficient. The only downside was the starter of hamachi crudo, which unfortunately may have been a bit turned, since it had a funny taste and my wife was briefly ill after eating it. The patio was extraordinarily pleasant with spacious and comfortable seating on a somewhat chilly evening, with blankets and heaters available if needed. A definite highlight of the HB dining scene.
Loved the food and service. The only bad thing I can say about the restaurant is that there was a live musician playing the evening we were there and it was too loud. If he toned it down a couple of notches it really would have improved on our experience. With the noise coming from other people, plus him, we could barely hear one another.
Probably the best meal I have ever had! Our group shared the starters: scallops, lamb chops, and potatoes. For the main course I had the pheasant which was excellent as well as the garnish. The highlight was the chocolate 4 layer cake. The 4 of us shared 1 piece and it was so rich and decadent. Definitely would recommed this place!
Very disappointed after all of the great reviews. The prior restaurant in this space was
wonderful!! They need to bring that chef back. Bottom line- the food was awful!!
The scallops smelled fishy, the salad was dry and prickly, the fish was basically inedible.
Fortunately the wine and the company were excellent- I was hoping for a good upscale
restaurant for Huntington Beach- not this one!!
Our waiter was efficient and checked on us frequently. Wine suggestions paired well with our entrees and the food was beyond superb! I have not seen a wine menu as comprehensive as at The Watertable Restaurant in some time. Very refreshing atmosphere.
Thank you for perfect service, décor and culinary creativity.
Selected Watertable for location and bonus points and was pleasantly surprised throughout the evening. The entry area is cozy. We were seated outside (6 for biz dinner) where it was pretty quiet even when it got busier. The wine list is outstanding (we had Turley red zin!), and everything we tried was delicious. I'll definitely be back.
Located inside the Hyatt resort, had indoor and outdoor spaces available. There was live music indoor when we went there on Saturday night but we chose to sit outdoor under the palm trees and by the fire pit. Smoking is not allowed on the patio. Food was good and prices are fair. Could be good for a date night or a friend get together.
Brandon our server was amazing. He knew everything about the menu and was attentive. My filet was average and my husbands salmon was also average. Charcuterie was great and I highly recommend it. Our friends said the sea bass was incredible. Brussel sprouts were also average.
The food was amazing! It is a small menu but offered fish, chicken, steak as well as the popular hamburger. Our salad, entree and dessert were really good and the bread was the best anyone had ever had. I wasn't as impressed with the drinks we received - custom craft cocktails but that really is a personal preference.
I have mixed feelings regarding this restaurant. The food was good, however the bread was served in a paper bag, as if we were at the county fair... and no butter or oil... just bread... in a bag. Odd. Then afterwards I had accidentally left my credit card and the waitress knew we were going to walk around the hotel for a while. It would've been simple for her to walk 10 steps to the valet check in and tell her to notify us she has my credit card once we picked up our car. The waitress had all our information from the reservation and from my credit card obviously. The food was good, expensive, but good. The dessert was just okay. The experience itself was disappointing but the hotel was beautiful.
An amazing and incredible experience. Our waiter, Brandon B. was outstanding. It was very obvious that he takes great pride in the offerings from this restaurant. He spent time with us explaining each item, where it came from and how the restaurant takes it's time to prepare and perfect each dish. A truly memorable experience and Brandon made it all outstanding. Lamb chops and chicken cooked to perfection. All nicely done and well worth spending your time at this incredible institution.
Arrived to still have a view out to the ocean from our patio seating - lovely. Enjoyed craft cocktails, then I had sauteed Sea Bass with their asparagus and white wine sauce, very good. Finished with dessert, their Black Forest something, it was ice cream with cherries and chocolate, topped with tiny violets, and just scrumptious!
This was our 2nd time here. We love outdoor dining. The service was great and the food good but feel that the pricing is a bit high. I know it's the nicer of the restaurants at the hotel but really, $25 for a burger? Most of the other dishes are on the out of the ordinary cuisine. A big plus is that they validate for 4hrs. parking.
We dined on a Sunday when it was more of a family atmosphere
"Sunday supper" features a small limited menu: shared salad, shared vegetable, shared Amuse Bouche, bread, choice of entree, starch, dessert Although there were lots of young children, I am unaware of a children's menu
First. The service was fantastic. My Brother-in law and wife are both hard of hearing and loud! I think they were the loudest people inside the restaurant Sunday night! I interviewed all 4 people who came with me for this review. My 70 year old Mom is emphatic that the short ribs were not short ribs instead was a stringy pot roast. In addition, Mom did not care for the stalks being left on the Brussel Spouts. Mom and Sis both state that the woody stalks should have been removed. I ate the stalk and Brussel Sprout with no problem but I had a steak knife to cut.. The seasoning was great! My steak was cooked perfectly. My wife loved her Salmon, she also did not like the stalks on the Brussel sprouts because her knife could not penetrate the sprout or stalk. She borrowed my steak knife., as did Sis (to cut Brussel Sprouts) who had a lovely pork chop.
Hey, I loved the atmosphere and the service. For a 45 dollar a plate meal, a couple of improvements are needed!
Wanted to provide an honest review and I hope it helps!

Dinner at the Watertable located within the Hyatt Regency was a pleasant dining experience. My wife enjoyed the pan roasted branzino and I the cedar plank roasted salmon. We chose to dine inside rather on the attractive outside patio because of the cool evening but in warm weather the patio is an attractive dinning location. Service was casual but more than adequate.
Valet parking is complimentary.
We chose to dine inside as neither of us brought a jacket and the ocean breeze felt a little nippy. Sat by the fireplace instead, which was a good choice for the evening. Enjoyed lamb chop appetizers, craft cocktails, and the delicious burger with lamb belly. We shall return again soon.
You get 2-hours of validated parking so that's a plus right from the beginning. The menu changes seasonally. Fresh baked bread is great with a nice glass of wine or cocktail while reviewing the menu. Service is outstanding - ask for Brandon or Bun. We tend to order a bunch of appetizers, but the entrees are very nice. My only complaint is: desserts are awful!!!! By that, I mean the chef has over-created deserts...avocado mousse? They used to have profiteroles, awesome carrot cake, and house made gelato. Save your money, and if you want something for after dinner, take a walk outside and get a scoop of icecream.
