Waterside Grill – Tampa Marriott Waterside Ratings and Reviews
We made reservations for a date night dinner. Not real sure why we were asked what kind of occasion this was but we filled in the question. The servers were understaffed and Not attentive, We had to flag the manager to request bread, drinks and after dinner espresso was cold and had to send it back. Dinner took well over 40 minutes to reach our table. Not sure if we would try this anytime soon. We are an elite member and take part in many Marriott amenities and this is one we could not recommend.
After discovering the few restaurants we had in mind were all booked for reservations on the time we needed, we decided on this place last minute. I’m glad we did! We arrived to a less busy atmosphere and got all the attention. Our server, was very attentive! We originally sat outside but after ordering wine, we realized it was a bit breezy, our waitress helped us to a table inside. My husband’s sangria style wine was garnished with what the server called a “filthy cherry” my o’ my, that was fantastic!! He also had the surf and turf, his steak was cooked perfect and his Maine lobster tail was delicious! I had the filet topped with leeks which was a wonderful combination. It sat on top of cheddar mashed potatoes,,, Delish!!! Lastly, the desert,, we shared the crème brûlée, it was an everlasting taste we will never forget! We followed our dinner to the theater.. Memorable evening. Thank you Waterside Grill for being a part in that.
I cannot more highly recommend the Waterside Grill. The service was terrific and the food was amazing. I started with the Caesar Salad and have never had a more crisp, refreshing, and fresh salad. I also had the Filet with the Lobster added and it was perfectly prepared. The lobster was huge and it was delicious. My wife had the Lobster & Chorizo pasta and both of us loved it as I got to help her finish it. If you have the opportunity to dine in the area around the convention center, this is a winner of a choice.
Prices are comparable to Capitol Grille/Shula's yet food is 4 stars vs. 5...all and all very good but that extra step of "special" treatment that the above restaurants offer is not present. Still, the view and gorgeous waterfront area makes that up. Booths are cozy and it makes a good dinner-spot before a game or show at Amalie arena which is across the street.
We were surprised by the food! It was very good, excellent actually.
Had the Scallops with Orange Marmalade and Bacon Jam. Wow! Little taste of ginger and pistachio crumbles. Thought of cancelling my main course and have another serving of the scallops.
But then I had the Blackened Shrimp with Cheesy Grits! Man, that was fabulous! Had a collard green with it. Shrimp were plump and big, grits were cheesy. Couldn't stop eating it.
My date had the Grilled Shrimp and she loved it.
Very Nice, and our server was excellent. Can't remember her name, but had an Afro, great smile and a cute, quiet certain attitude. She was tipped well, but you know, the waitress shouldn't be part of the meal, she should be pleasant and not really around but there when you needed her. She was all of that.
It exceeded my expectations. Very nice place to eat.
Enjoyed the outside, scenic view. This location is a hot spot being it is waterfront. I like coming downtown to this hotel. Disappointed they don't offer more items on menu and wings were overcooked. Cocktails good. Although server was delightful, service was very slow - may due to it being July 4th.
We've been there before but this was our first inside dining experience. I have to say first and foremost the Arugula and roasted beets salad is the best! I had the grilled shrimp added and they were 4 very large and delicious ones. That being said, the service was mediocre and had to wait awhile for water refills, our check, etc. But the view was lovely and we'll just sit at the bar next time!
went for Mothers Day Brunch & Opentable did not specify that the restaurant was ONLY serving a $40 Brunch that day - I was making a reservation for Dinner. I had a choice of 3:00/4:00 only available- I took 4:00. We arrived & SURPRISED -only choice was Buffett - we decided to stay, & By this time of the day the Buffet was OLD, sitting out all day, Roast Beef was VERY DISSAPOINTING! dry/under lamp too long. Cheeses/lunchmeats warm. It was an UNEXPECTED BILL OF $100. Our server Elaine was wonderful - but the staff was exhausted by this time & they were anxious to break down the Buffett & go home. I would prefer to have my money back. We drove from another city to stay at hotel and dine. Would not make reservations this way again.
Unfortunately the hotel and restaurant were very, VERY busy as a result of local graduations and a festival going on. It just seemed the staff was not ready for this busy a day. My wife and I felt badly for the wait staff and for the host, who had to deal with unhappy hotel guests who had to wait in a lengthy line and people with reservations who felt the line was for everyone but them.
My wife and I will be staying at this hotel later this summer and will give the restaurant another try. Hopefully better result then.
Excellent choice for a nice dining experience in the Tampa Bay waterfront area.
I asked for a modification from the menu and it was done spectacularly. Unfortunately on a different evening it wasn't prepared as well as the chef made a change to my request.
The ambiance is superb. Beautiful area.
Dining at the Marriott Waterside and a walk around the bay makes for a beautiful evening.
Had a fabulous time celebrating a friend's birthday while dining at the Waterside Grill located inside the Tampa Marriott Waterside. Our reservations were originally set for 6:00 pm on a Sunday evening, but we were attending a concert across the street so got in a little earlier to see if they could accommodate us. Not only did they seat us early, they gave us a great table out on the patio next to the water. My friend was thrilled. Three of us started with a glass of red wine, many choices but one Pinot Noir, one Cabernet and one Malbec. All wonderful. The fourth person had a Vodka/Tonic. We ended up ordering just appetizers: Pistachio Crusted Sea Scallops....delicious; Smoked Salmon Naan Flatbread......so good, we ordered a second one; Wild Mushroom & Goat Cheese Flatbread with Chicken added, Chicken was a little dry but other ingredients really good. The Poppy Seed bread in baskets were a little different, a little dry on the outside crust but very nice and fluffy on the inside. We ended the evening with another round of drinks and our server brought my friend a special Chocolate and Peanut Butter dessert to share. Servers and staff were friendly and pleasant. Definitely going back.
We enjoyed Easter brunch buffet, food with average with a few dishes standing out--snapper and shrimp and grits. Great view of waterway. Service was efficient and friendly. Probably would not go back unless for a special occasion event where it's more about ambience and food quality secondary.
Our family gathered for Easter lunch/dinner since the Marriott Waterside was having a special Easter brunch. The buffet was setup in several rooms making it very difficult to get to because you had to walk in and around various dining rooms and go between many tables. The food was extremely poor! This was a unanimous consensus among our group. Service was less than average, dirty plates remained stacked on our table for a period of time. I am sad to say several of us left hungry because much of the food was either cold or just not appetizing on the palette.
My husband and I took our son and son-in-law out for Easter Brunch. There was an abundant amount of food to choose from. They had an omelet station, a meat carving station as well as a nice spread for breakfast items, lunch items and a dessert area. The food was tasteful and Terry our server was very attentive.
