Water's Edge - Charleston Ratings and Reviews
The absolute worst restaurant experience in Charleston. We recall many excellent meals here from years ago when we lived here. This was supposed to be a special evening for my wife’s birthday. It was horrible. Our reservation was at 8:45. The lights were on full bright so we could barely see out the window to Shem Creek. The food was mediocre - a huge step down from the last time we ate there a few years ago. The staff was awful. The buss boys were loud and obnoxious the entire evening.
By far the single worst dining experience in our lives. Do not waste your money at this place.
Water's Edge is our go to spot for Sunday Brunch. Usually I shy away from any buffet because it causes me to overindulge. Notwithstanding either from the menu or from the buffet Water's Edge dining options are very good. We were with a large group and had a time crunch and the server did a yeoman's job of making sure we were finished dining in plenty of time. So, very good food, beautiful surroundings and excellent service makes Water's Edge a good choice.
we have dined here several times while visiting Charleston. I'm certain this will likely be our last visit. Given the many dining options. Our server was unattentive, my flounder was luke warm and in general it seemed the place was trying to close down vs. service the existing customers.
Water's Edge was referred to us by the hotel concierge and wow, it did not disappoint!!! We were seated by the windows and had the most amazing view of the passing boats . We ordered the oyster appetizer, lobster and seafood pasta for dinner, and crème brûlée for dessert. Everything was delicious! Our daughter just moved to the area and I'm sure we'll be stopping here again soon!
We had a reservation for 9 people and had requested a table on the inside porch by the water. We all waited in the bar for at least 30 minutes or more while they got our table ready. Finally spoke with the Manager, who was very nice and took care of things. Our waiter was excellent , very friendly and efficient.
Our waitress was super slow and let our drinks run out several times. We were in town for a doctors appointment at MUSC and went to Waters Edge for lunch. We mentioned the restaurant to our doctor.,he said the place had peeked and gone down. Will Not eat at waters edge on our next trip to Charleston.
Don’t waste your time at this place when there are so many other seafood spots . We went there on a last minute reservation and had decent service , but bland and watery seafood. There was absolutely no flavor in the paella and the shrimp scampi tasted like watered down frozen food .
We were staying at Shem Creek Inn next door, so made the perfect anniversary dinner spot after a day sightseeing around Charleston. The prime rib was made perfectly to my likeness and my husband loved the seafood pasta dish with a slightly spicy cream sauce & loads of shrimp, scallops & mahi mahi. Watching the boats go by on Shem Creek while sipping their Peach Sangria was an added bonus.
This was my second time dining here. First experience better than second. Food was just "ok" both times. Service was fine the first experience. Second experience was the worst service I've ever experienced in Charleston. Our waitress wanted to be anywhere but here. She literally came to our table only to take our order and to bring our food and check. We had to give our credit card to another waiter for check out because she never returned. Would not recommend and don't plan to go back.
Our server was very short with is and when she brought out a side item that was incorrect she actually said " well , are you going to eat it or am I? "
That was just one thing, too many others to list!
Not going to bother going or recommending this restaurant due to the people they have on staff.
My sister and I have eaten here the last two time we were in Charleston. The first time we were just looking for a place to eat seafood and we saw the restaurant sitting on Shem's Creek and we just stopped to try it. It was a decision we have never regretted. The food, restaurant, staff, atmosphere and being able to sit inside or outside and watch the action on the creek is a treat. I suggest a try for those who have never experienced Water's Edge.
We were seated in the corner of the enclosed porch. This was perfect as we had a little one with us and he was not in the middle of a crowd. It was also a lovely view of the creek for our out of town guest. Bloody Mary bar was great, as was the brunch buffet. There was a great variety of choice on the menu. Server was attentive and helpful. Great Sunday brunch option.
This chowder was stone cold new waiter did not put the order in so they ran out before I can get any I asked if I could have what they were throwing in a cup and reheat it home to try was told I'd be charge for it even though they were not to throw it away husband ordered fried oysters and received rot wasters at this point we were ready to go he try them told the waiter we will pay for the appetizer find Orcher take the double in price what wasters at that point the general manager came out and asked us why we wouldn't pay for the wall wasters which we did not order today was one of the worst business we ever had fortunately I had brought some chips and salsa we could eat in the car on the way home
