Water's Edge - Charleston
Grouper was very good, but my husband ordered prime rib, med/rare which came out fairly well done. Hostess not too welcoming and waitress, though nice, wasn't very available and had to ask for bread. Was nice, but for what we spent, could have been a much nicer experience.
Lobster Mac and Cheese was delicious! Enjoyed the food. Would have liked some music on the patio and my second glass of wine.
Always love the view and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Service was excellent and waitress was able to accurately describe the entrees. Relaxed atmosphere and noise level during busy time was not overwhelming. Will definitely return.
Service was great and the food was amazing
Great place, great food and service with perfect view of Shem Creek.
I always Love Water’s Edge & every year I like to come back with my family to have the Mud Pie dessert for my Birthday! Unfortunately Mud Pie wasn’t on the dessert menu anymore and they replaced it with Turtle Pie so I tried the Turtle Pie. The turtle pie was good but Not as good as the Mud Pie so I was a little disappointed!
Our waitress forgot to put in two parts of our order. She left us sitting too many times particularly at the end when we needed the check. Just miserable service. She had only two tables.
The food was reasonable and the salmon was very good.
We had an 8 pm reservation and were on time. Half the restaurant was vacant yet the receptionist insisted our table was not ready. It was ready and vacant for us as we waited for 20 minutes.
We brought our out of town guest here expecting a much better experience. For such an established restaurant, it was extremely unorganized. We all agreed as locals that we would not return. There are too many better choices.
We were visitors to the area and had several locals recommend Water’s Edge. So glad they did. The herb seared grouper, crab cake, oysters, Bloody Mary, and bread pudding were also excellent! And the nicest waiter ever— Austin!! Hopefully we can return some day!
Excellent outside seating amazing! Food and waitress Amazing. Price amazing.
We asked our server for a wine list and he said what are you looking for and we said we didn’t know he stated I know all the wines but said I’ll bring you one, never Did! brought appetizers, then disappeared for us to order dinner, we split a chicken pasta dish ,and the angel hair pasta was mushy, like it was sitting under hot lamps! Never asked us about the wine again either, just wanted to leave the restaurant. We will Not have him again! 847/909-4598 to discuss.
One of the best restaurants I’ve been in the Charleston/Mt. Pleasant area. Service was Top Notch and Food was Wonderful. Will definitely eat here again in one of my many future visits to Charleston.
Great meal, wonderful service and a lovely setting!
Great food and view
Sauce was missing from appetiser, we asked server who said she would sort it, we never saw her again. We were finishing those appetisers when the mains were brought and set down with the serving plates from the starters just left in the way on the table so we had to set them on the floor. The most expensive meal we had on holiday and not the best although the food was tasty.
Delicious fresh seafood and salads and sandwiches. Beautiful view and great service
Views from this restaurant patio were absolutely beautiful, but the food was sub-par and service had an attitude. The food we got was overly seasoned with so so much black pepper in every dish that it overpowered the taste of everything else in all 6 of our party’s dinners. The waiter and hostess we interacted with acted impatient with us even though there were not many other tables filled. Many other restaurants on the water that were much busier and now I can see why... would 10/10 go somewhere else next time.
Our server was fine, nothing extraordinary. No bread, or even corn bread at the table (gasp in Charleston)! Our second drink was weak and the food was just ok. The setting and view was lovely. Perhaps we were there at an off day/time
Lovely, intimate restaurant with great food and service, with a beautiful view of Shem Creek. Doesn’t get much better!
The food was way overpriced. I was disappointed that a restaurant on Shems Creek would not serve local fish.
We had a reservation and were seated at a great water view table by the windows. Food was delicious and server was attentive. Restaurant was very convient for us since we had a room at Shem Creek Inn. We will definitely return for another great dining experience.
Took about 10 minutes to get waters for the table... another 7 minutes for a dirt coke and a Bloody Mary bar...
Great view and awesome food. The service was spot on.
Terrible service! This is the second time we have experienced awful service and each time we have had different servers.
Great food and service. Our waitress was really good day we enjoyed everything about waters edge!
Got there a little early and when they said they could seat me I thought it would be near the bar. Instead the best table overlooking Shem Creek. The service was awesome and the food was plentiful and delicious!! No room for dessert!! Incredible evening!! Highly recommend Water's Edge!!
The frozen pina coladas, food, service, and view of Shem Creek were awesome!
You even had a porpoise perform for us in the Creek!
My wife’s grouper was the best she’s ever had. Food portions were so great that at the Manager’s suggestion I took a huge slice of chocolate cake home with me to enjoy with a cold glass of milk later in the evening.
Great meal and waiter....will definitely be back!
Water's Edge is our go-to local restaurant when guests come to town. We also enjoy a monthly happy hour there with friends and the occasional weekend brunch. The service is always excellent and the quality could not be beat.
Water's Edge turned out to be a great pick. We had a great table overlooking the water, a wonderful waitress that was enjoyable to talk with, the food was great, my wife and I enjoyed the ambience and the lighting, it turns out to be my wife's sister's favorite place as well. Just looked on line and it seemed good.
I highly recommend it.
Had to make reservations earlier than we wanted. Otherwise things were great.
Great views of Shem Creek. First table we sat at near windows was so lopsided as the floor slopped to the window. Food was good but not exceptional. Waitress never offered more bread or coffee while we were talking before and after dinner.
We had a great meal at Water’s Edge. Service was perfect. Our seating preference was honored and we thoroughly enjoyed or time overlooking Shem Creek.
The location of this restaurant was the main reason we picked it and probably the only reason we’d tell others about it. My husband had the seafood platter which he said was okay. I had Mahi Mahi and I’ve had much better at a chain restaurant.
Few thoughts: you have an ideal location and we love that. We have visited on trips to Mt. P and islands over a number of years. So we keep returning. However, both fried shrimp and salmon were over cooked this time. The shrimp pasta was very good, bread delicious, and service exceptional good; our water was patient and efficient and pleasant. I'd love to have an option of broiled scallops on the menu and some half meals like some restaurants now offer.
Vacation for family
Amazing food, excellent service and a lovely view! It was the perfect spot for a delicious dinner!
Rather rude greeter when we checked in. Booked reservation several weeks in advance (on OT) and asked for table by window. Initially not available because they were “booked up” then she found one. Server was nice but EXTREMELY SLOW service. Meal took over 2hrs primarily because restaurant was slow - 20-30 min between courses. Ordered grouper but they ran out (@ 7:30). Some of the worst She Crab soup we have ever tasted. Weird spices and Could not eat it. We have had She Crab at many places in Charleston and this was the worst. Two of us ordered dishes containing mussels but most of them did not open meaning either undercooked or bad(dead/old). Told server but no adjustment to bill. Lastly, the restaurant never filled up and there were several open tables by the window. Worst meal and experience we have had in many years. Will NEVER go back. We have many friends in Charleston and will definitely let them know. With so many other better restaurants we could never recommend this one to anyone.
Usually love this place and its food but service was terrible (2 hrs for dinner for 3 ppl) and our prime rib had more fat than any slice of prime rib we’ve ever ordered anywhere . Waited 1/2 hour for desserts and key lime pie was a frozen prefab cake instead of actual pie; On top of things, I asked for a chicken caesar salad to go for my son who was at home sick, and they served it on a plate before our bread or drinks were even served. Pretty sure you lost my business last night.
Food very good but slow coming from the kitchen. Waitress was very apologetic for the length of time waiting for the food.
