Water's Edge - Charleston
As the restaurant for busier the service slowed way down. There was no time for any corrections on the waiters part. The kids Mac and cheese was way too cheesy, even the waiter agreed when he saw the dish still full of food because my daughter could not eat it. Never bothered to replace or offer to bring her something else. We come this restaurant every year we are in town and this year we were very disappointed. Service was good not great because he started off ok,
Verry unprofessional. The waitress tired to get us to go away by telling us the wait time is 40 minutes for food after she made us wait at least 15 to 20 minutes before taking our order. Fleet landing will always be the only restuarant me and my family will go to from now on when in Charleston
Great place for a classy date. Location and menu were top notch.
Very pleased with the Sunday brunch offerings. The regular menu items as well as the bar were ordered by my group. Everyone said the food was very good. I will be back.
Mediocre good in a pleasant atmosphere. Lackluster service. Nothing really stood out as special or unique
I took a group of six out-of-towners to the Water’s Edge on Saturday night. I had dined there before and loved it but was a bit concerned about how others might like it. I had to call the restaurant numerous times to adjust my Open Table reservation from 8 to 10 to 8 to 6 people. The restaurant was accommodating each time I called and thanked me for letting them know. I requested a waterside table. The restaurant said they could not promise a waterside table but would do their best. When we arrived, they seated us at the very best table in the house. Waterside was a big plus for my out-of-town guests! The service was excellent! The food was stellar. Several guests ordered the crispy flounder and raved about it. I ordered the mussels which were absolutely the best I have ever had! The entire dining experience was perfect!
Second time here and food was yummy again. Came last week with my mother and did brunch which was delicious. Great bloody mary- decent dirty martini. Food was yummy. Loved the interesting dip with the calamari- had an Indian twist to it with the curry hints presented. My halibut was perfectly cooked and delicious- being from MD and having fished and crabbed on the Chesapeake bay my whole life i am picky about my seafood. it was good here but the lobsters were a little small for the price of the dish. recommend this place for sure- also service my two times here has been pleasant and timely
An outstanding meal with fantastic service. Great value for the money.
Needs more staff. Arrived early, Waited 20 min past reservation while half the tables were empty. Outdoor bar has no staff to wait on open air seating. Get new cushions and pillows- really dirty. Bathrooms need major cleaning. Food was good but too many other places to eat with better customer service and attention to cleanliness. Our waiter was excellent in spite of having too many tables to cover. This place needs an overhaul.
Phenomenal food, great wine list, and outstanding service.
The food and the service was good. The only thing was that the silverware looked dirty. Maybe their dishwasher should be looked at. Asked for plastic utensils. Or maybe an off day....
Delicious daily special (Jambalaya), beautiful day to be out on the patio. Always a great experience at Water Edge.
I loved the ambience, especially being on the water. The tables are nicely spaced so you're not right on top your neighbor. The sound level is optimal. We were a party of eight, and I could hear everyone without straining, but we didn't feel like we were too loud for our surroundings. The food quality was dependent on what was ordered. This goes for both appetizers and entrees. Some of the entrees were very tasty with larger then normal portions. Others were merely adequate, and I thought overpriced. I was disappointed in my crab cake meal, and I don't think it would be nearly enough for a gentleman or someone with a larger appetite. However, the prime rib entree was ample. Our service was adequate, not overly accommodating and we waited quite a while for the main course- to the point that we nearly inquired as the evening was getting rather late. The tip was automatically added to our check for our party of eight, so the server may have had no incentive to provide admirable service. Overall, it might be nice to visit Waters Edge for the ambience but expect to pay for it, without being guaranteed a great meal.
After spending 1 week in the mount pleasant area we ate out quite often while on vacation. This restaurant was one of my least favorite. Had a 5:00 pm reservation and was seated 20 minutes later. Food was average. They did serve us bread while we waited over 1 hour for our dinner to arrive. Waitress was pleasant but my husband requested water refills and was ignored half the time. The good thing about this restaurant is the view. We were seated by the window and the temperature was very cool and comfortable.
Went on Father's day and had the buffet brunch, while the food was good selections were limited. I think the next time I will stick with the ala Carte menu which is what I saw a lot of other diners doing. The Bloody Mary bar was awesome though!
We always enjoy your Sunday brunch!
Perfect ambiance with the view of Shem Creek for a Father’s Day brunch. Excellent food (and carafe of mimosas, what a value!), but initial service was a little slow.
We should have stayed at the bar down by the water. Even though it was packed, our waiter was very efficient, personable, and brought our drinks promptly. We had made reservations for the restaurant at 8pm and requested a window seat. We were seated in a half empty restaurant, nowhere near a window. It took 25 mins to get our first beverage from the inside bar. The waitress said the bar was “backed up” even though half the tables were empty. About 30 mins after being seated she brought us a small portion of bread because “that’s all they had in the kitchen”. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed. Our food was just okay. The bathrooms were disgusting. It’s a shame that the patrons at the outside bar come all the way up into the restaurant to use the facilities. We had not been to Water’s Edge in years and have no plans to go back.
Service was very poor. Had to constantly ask for drink refills. Messed up the order. Didnt bring bread until reminded twice. Server would not tell us the daily specil because he said, "its just not that good so why waste time". Food was maybe equivalent of a fair chain like Texas Roadhouse / Red Lobster.. The location is amazing! The rest ... Well ... We will not go back next time we visit.
Requested table outside, but was given a table in bar. Later found out tables outside can’t be reserved, but are on a first come, first serve basis. Learned people were sitting outside while we were at table in lounge. Wasn’t happy with situation and let hostess know we weren’t going to settle for a table in the lounge, but wanted a table outside (as a couple tables outside were vacant). We sat at one of the vacant tables outside and hostess allowed us to stay there. Manager came over later and apologized for the mixup and offered us a free dessert. Food was good, but not great. Service was fine once we finally sat down at a table outside and manager was very pleasant and apologetic for what occurred.
Waiter was not the best, still enjoyed our meal.
We were there for our son’s 25th Bday...his favorite restaurant. Food awesome, Ken the server friendly and efficient, great views. Don’t change a thing, Water’s Edge!
Go to restaurant at Shem Creek. Nice views friendly service good food.
Great view, good server (although trying to serve several large tables made it a little difficult for him, but very pleasant and accommodating). Food was delicious...would like to see prices a little less so that people could frequent more often. Overall great experience and good time had by our party of 8.
The service and the food were excellent. One of our favorite restaurants.
Excellent. Frozen drink was a little wet but tasted good.
Very good food, nice atmosphere, server was a little slow or forgetful to bring some things. But overall very good.
Our server, Shaun, was amazing! He was super attentive and friendly! We had the shrimp cocktail, cheese and olive tray, crab and spinach dip and portobello mushroom for appetizers and they were delicious. The entrees came out too closely after the appetizers, though. The shrimp and grits were great! Our only complaint was the shrimp scampi was bland.
Overall, it was a wonderful dinner and evening!
Really enjoyed dining at the Water's Edge, food was done as ordered and delicious.
Great food, a little pricey
Got their for a 7 pm reservation. Sat outside with view of Shem Creek. Ordered drinks by 7:10. Ordered dinner by 7:15. Salads and soup took a little over 30 minutes to arrive. We were told the kitchen was a little backed up. It appeared more like the staff was poorly trained and the place was poorly, if at all, managed. About 8 pm I was told “they just ran out of Prime Rib.” Property management might have figured that out around 7:30. Switched to a cheeseburger since I thought it would be fast given we had been there so long already. About 8:20 I asked our waiter to check on our food. All of a sudden it came out quickly...which leads me to believe it was sitting under the hot lights a while. Dinner was good, although my wife almost choked on some bones in her fish. Be careful if you get the fish. They don’t do a good job getting the bones out. Such a shame that it is a great location with obviously bad management. Given that, I guess the tourist crowd will keep them in business.
I've dined at Water's Edge before with good experience, but never for brunch. I honestly didn't think about Water's Edge for brunch until I saw that it was open at 10am, earlier than some other places. I booked the table for 4, we sat down and I was very pleasantly surprised by the prices!! Cheaper than many of the brunches at bars in town, with no stale beer scent in the air. In fact, the room was perfectly clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the view of Shem Creek was spectacular (except for the construction barge across the creek). We all had the buffet, which at $16.95 was a very good value considering the made to order omelettes, salmon, shrimp and grits and much more. The rest of the menu looked fantastic with great pricing. I think the Eggs Bennie were $12, Crab Bennie $14, Burgers around $10. I saw a plate of the Crab Benedict go by, it looked like a magazine cover! That's cheap pricing in Chas area, and with the great room, view, and service, Water's Edge is my new Brunch Go-To!
Great experience with out of town guests. We enjoyed a delicious lunch and loved watching the activity on the creek. Good spot with lots of reserved parking.
The management is highly incompetent: they falsely accused me of leaving without paying thereby embarrassing me in front of my date, and ruining the evening. I’m addition the service was non existent, and the food mediocre. The set up is even awkward, really old people inside and young, trashed, people outside in the cabana.
James- we are sorry you're embarrassed but you did walk out on, not only your bar tab, but your meal at the table. Our management had to walk down the dock to see if you were around and were alerted by another couple where you were. The couple that notified us were sitting next to you and saw you leave without paying. Our management chose to come and find you to have you pay rather then getting the police involved. If you need this cleared up any further, please let us know. Thank you.
Nice restaurant. Food was great. Requested water view with reservations but was not available upon arrival.
Everything was delicious! Loved the lobster Mac and Cheese, and the key lime pie martini!
It was great - food was delicious and service was good. Loved our waterfront view table.
Waiter was friendly yet seemed unorganized. Food service was extremely slow. Drinks and food served to other tables that were seated after us. Food quality was disappointing. Shrimp was not local and fresh. It was brought in from out of state. Grits were sticky and gummy with little flavor. Portabella mushroom was under cooked and was hardly warm in the center. Very disappointed evening after a full day of historic site seeing.
Good food, good service...restaurant was too warm
