Water's Edge - Charleston
It smelled musty and old. Service was very slow as well.
Disappointing. Visiting and chose Water's Edge based on selections in their online menu. None of them are available! Although owners changed in March 2019, online menu has not changed. Actual menu entirely different. Ordered calamari (too salty), she-crab soup (also too salty), avocado hummus (excellent) and bread (also excellent).
I was disappointed in the quality of the food. The ambiance was nice though. Our experience would have been great if the food quality was a match to the environment of the restaurant. I am sure you will make a note of my experience and improve it for future visits.
Great view and food that we always enjoy year after year.
Subtle changes with new owners!
Our waiter was incompetent and seemed to be preoccupied. Was asked for two desserts and coffee. He brought one dessert and said the cofffee was being brewed after we had completed dessert. He seemed ill informed about wine selections. The food was not up to par for the price. The spinach salad was delicious.
Food was not good and our waiter took forever and was rude. I didn’t touch my food and was not offered a refund or something else to eat.
Food was good but came out cold, the waitress fixed it.
Food was great! We got to sit with a view of the water
Nearly very good.
Front end girl needs to go to charm school! Service at the bar was wonderful! Food was over cooked!
Food was very good, very busy when we were there the wait service seemed to get overwhelmed.
All the seafood was over cooked.
Was very disappointed that there were no vegetarian options.
A salad just want work for Christmas Eve dinner
Chose the crab cake option and they were watery😝
Lovely seafood restaurant. Just the right place for an evening out.
Not our first visit and we are locals so this is not a one and done review. I like this restaurant. The bar is very nice and the pours are some of the best in the area. Everyone is friendly and very accommodating. The menu has good variety and the presentation is appealing. But there it ends. My seafood platter was actually less than the three star rating I gave it. The shrimp saved it from being worse but one of them was fresh out the box of frozen delights. Disappointing. The flounder also looked like a box catch and had little to no flavor. The scallops were rather tasty but encrusted in a thick, tasteless batter that had to be removed. The oysters were a total disgrace and an embarrassment for any restaurant in Charleston. Honestly, they looked like tiny pieces of deep fried pig fat. As I said, I like this restaurant but in the future will stick to drinks in the bar. I hope the owners take this review as an incentive to up their game in the kitchen.
Tuna is the best I have had! Wonderful for dates or for families and parties. If you haven't had the brunch on Sundays, put it on the to-do list. Amazing! One of our all time favorites in Charleston with great views.
Great food , view , employees & prices. I would definitely go again.
A perfect lunch on the patio in the sun watching dolphins and pelicans.
Our family group of six dined here for brunch on a Saturday and we had a great time ! We arrived at the location early enough to allow us some time to walk around the various docks in the area and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The table we were seated at was right by the water and allowed us a wonderful view of the water. We saw their resident dolphins (one is named Clipper) and pelicans. The food was outstanding ! Our server, Steve, took great care of us. He provided wonderful recommendations on menu items and he also made some fabulous cocktails for us. Overall it was a lovely dining experience.
Great location, Delicious food, friendly service. Nothing not to like
The Thanksgiving buffet was as good as it gets. I usually cook for the holiday, and I could not have put together a better dinner. Add the scenery of Shem Creek and you have a Thanksgiving that will be long-time remembered. Look forward to sampling the seafood at Water's Edge on our next visit.
Fantastic Thanksgiving spread! Couldn’t have been happier with dinner tonight!
Only if you are not placed in the crack by the kitchen . Awful seating location
The Thanksgiving Buffet was amazing. Service was excellent. Definitely will be back.
Our server Steve was great
We each had a different selection from the menu and all exceeded our expectation.
Enjoyed our shrimp and grits, with plenty to take home for another meal. We'll be back!
Special dinner with friends
Sat out on the deck. Great ambiance, good food and good service.
Great atmosphere. Enjoyed the food, the service and my company.
Have dined here many times and always enjoy! We were celebrating with family visiting from KS and Water’s Edge was perfect. Will definitely be back.
Great location, delicious lunch, excellent server — Brendan, and fun view! The shrimp and grits is great, peel and eat shrimp so yummy and the shrimp scampi excellent. The huge slab of chocolate cake is to die for! Suitable for casual meals, celebratory gatherings, tourists, families — one of those unique places that works for everyone.
Food took a little long to come out and wasn’t piping hot
The restaurant was recommended by a friend. It was our first time there. We had a wonderful meal out by the water in the covered porch. Service was excellent. We'll be back!
Great views, food and service. Varied menu and excellent wine & cocktails
I ordered crispy flounder, but it had a fruit mix all over it, so it was anything but crispy! It was soggy, but would have been great, minus the fruit!
The spinach dip was awesome!
The service was fairly good.
The drawback is that the restaurant was extremely loud. We couldn’t visit with out of town guests at all, and hadn’t seen them in a very long time. That was a big disappointment.
We will try this place again.
We asked for bread it never came then we asked for lemon for the water it took 15min. We waited 35min for food that we needed to put salt and pepper on except the Salmon it was everything. I would go just to get Salmon to go!!
Prime rib was rare although it was ordered medium.
Our last evening in Charleston we ate at the Water's Edge on Shems Creek. Beautiful sunset on the enclosed porch. Our salads were very good as were our dinners - the herbed grouper and shrimp and grits (quite spicy). Their key lime pie was also very tasty and just tart enough. Tiffany was our server and was helpful with helping us decide our meal - no rush - just right. Usually quite busy but we were there on a Tuesday evening. Would highly recommend.
