Watermarc Ratings and Reviews
We had heard great things about his restaurant. The manager (?) was very snooty and openly rude to the hostess in front of us...kind of set a bad tone for our date. The food was delicious and very well presented. The hostess was polite and our waiter was great...they need to reconsider management and how they speak to both employees and customers. It was very off putting and uncomfortable. I would return for the food. Expensive and there really isn’t much of a “view”, but it’s in a quaint part of Laguna and delicious.
We've been here several times for anniversary and a few times with friends. A bit on the pricey side but always a good meal and ambience...if you get a seat upstairs. If I couldn't sit upstairs I would rather pay to eat somewhere else. Always enjoyable and service has always been good. And of course you have to get the best gelato in town next door after dinner.
All our grazing dishes and main courses were delicious and well prepared. Paella was a particular favorite for some of our party. But the item people two days later are still mentioning is the ahi watermelon skewer. Great combination. Good wine list and they brought us tastes of several wines to help us decide.
We had an excellent meal on a Saturday night. The service was efficient and courteous. The atmosphere was pleasant and the food was generally good except for the ribeye steak which
was excellent and reasonably priced-$49 for a 16 OZ cut. Also, the bread pudding was very
good. All-in-all an fine evening at a reasonable value.
We look forward to visiting Laguna when we visit from Texas! Watermarc is ALWAYS a place we dine. Their door is fresh and creative. The house made chips are the best splurge. The paella dishes are great but really large portions so maybe sharing this with a salad is a good idea. Plank salmon is beautiful and delicious!
Lunchtime salads are great as well as sandwiches.
The most incredible lobster house roll that was worth going back for - the salads were well flavored and tasty and the service was excellent - dinner items were a bit more innovative and worth going out of the way for than breakfast and lunch which were pretty standard
We have been several times to Watermark and the food is always good, but they really seem to have upped their game in terms of food quality and presentation and service. This last visit was fantastic start to finish. Real cooking here folks and real flavor. Lot's of love in the kitchen without shortcuts. The crab cake appetizer was a medley of flavors, with great additions to the two impeccable crab cakes themselves. My wife had the seafood paella and I had the chicken and chorizo paella and both were really solid. Way better than your average restaurant paella. Bravo! Can't wait to come back.
These folks pay attention to detail and deliver fabulous food and friendly service.
When I visit Laguna Beach I also want to try a new place for dinner but end up
at Watermarc because I know the meal will be outstanding and the service attentive.
I have never been disappointed.
We love this restaurant, the service and food are very good. The servers are particularly well trained and attentive. The noise level can be overpowering at times due to loud parties... but that's a Saturday night dining experience during the holidays in many Laguna Beach restaurants.
This was my 3rd time dining at Watermarc. Food was excellent as always. But our server Kevin turned out to be an absolute jerk. I was meeting a childhood friend whose son had recently committed suicide for an early dinner at 4:30 pm. well before any dinner rush so we could have a long leisurely meal. I came up from San Diego. He came down from LA and was delayed due to traffic. My wife and I ordered a drink and appetizers while we waited but Kevin kept asking when my friend was coming. After the meal Kevin pressed so much that my friend asked if he needed the table. Unbelievably Kevin said yes which is just about the rudest thing a waiter in a fine dining establishment has ever said to me. We rewarded him with a $10 tip on a $200 bill and a personal note to him on the check. There is no shortage of dining establishments to choose from, I doubt that I'll ever return to Watermarc. And if by chance I do, I'll make sure not to have Kevin as my server.
This was not our first time at Watermarc. I planned dinner here for a very special event for my wife and friends. After dinner, everyone in the party agreed it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The food options, preparation and presentation were perfect. The service top notch. Thank you Watermarc.
I just wasn't impressed. It was empty practically downstairs and the host insisted we sit upstairs. There were 3 of us. We asked to sit downstairs and it was still empty after we sat there for two hours. The waiter was not very friendly and he upsaled my small plate of lamb chops which come with three to four . If I had known one lamb chop was $8 more then I would have said no because it was half the price of my initial order. Kind of dumb to offer that. They should tell you ahead of time how much the cost would be. Unfortunately after all that they came out dry and lukewarm. I didn't want to address it because the waiter seemed frustrated all night and was hungry. Maybe because it wasn't busy and he didn't make too much from our table although when we were through having a couple of glasses of wine each and food it was still $145. If he had a better attitude I would have left a full 15% but I am tired of tipping just because. These waiters need to earn it if you ask me and also the food was so so. Don't think Ill go back unless its just for drinks and other places are crowded.
