Watermarc Ratings and Reviews
This was my 3rd time dining at Watermarc. Food was excellent as always. But our server Kevin turned out to be an absolute jerk. I was meeting a childhood friend whose son had recently committed suicide for an early dinner at 4:30 pm. well before any dinner rush so we could have a long leisurely meal. I came up from San Diego. He came down from LA and was delayed due to traffic. My wife and I ordered a drink and appetizers while we waited but Kevin kept asking when my friend was coming. After the meal Kevin pressed so much that my friend asked if he needed the table. Unbelievably Kevin said yes which is just about the rudest thing a waiter in a fine dining establishment has ever said to me. We rewarded him with a $10 tip on a $200 bill and a personal note to him on the check. There is no shortage of dining establishments to choose from, I doubt that I'll ever return to Watermarc. And if by chance I do, I'll make sure not to have Kevin as my server.
This was not our first time at Watermarc. I planned dinner here for a very special event for my wife and friends. After dinner, everyone in the party agreed it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The food options, preparation and presentation were perfect. The service top notch. Thank you Watermarc.
I just wasn't impressed. It was empty practically downstairs and the host insisted we sit upstairs. There were 3 of us. We asked to sit downstairs and it was still empty after we sat there for two hours. The waiter was not very friendly and he upsaled my small plate of lamb chops which come with three to four . If I had known one lamb chop was $8 more then I would have said no because it was half the price of my initial order. Kind of dumb to offer that. They should tell you ahead of time how much the cost would be. Unfortunately after all that they came out dry and lukewarm. I didn't want to address it because the waiter seemed frustrated all night and was hungry. Maybe because it wasn't busy and he didn't make too much from our table although when we were through having a couple of glasses of wine each and food it was still $145. If he had a better attitude I would have left a full 15% but I am tired of tipping just because. These waiters need to earn it if you ask me and also the food was so so. Don't think Ill go back unless its just for drinks and other places are crowded.
Good attitudes and service all around, from hostess to bartender and waiters. We scored the Romeo & Juliet baloney which was nice for a first date. Top-drawer steak and the lovely Karen much appreciated the lamb. Sir Bartender recommended a first rate Sarah blend I'd never heard of. The only negative is that I was unceremoniously dumped twenty-five years ago, while seated at this same table when the restaurant was call Partner's Bistro. Not really a negative.
She went on to star in Play Misty for Me.
A birthday lunch. The food was delicious: we had lamb chops, shrimp and grits, and a savory tomato bisque soup with mini-grilled cheese. Portion sizes were adequate to generous. The cocktails were inventive and well-made. The staff gives friendly greetings and good service , but despite notifications in advance, there was no birthday acknowledgement.
I could not recommend this restaurant based on the service I got. The waiter was terrible. He was rushing the whole time. I wanted to order wine and he brought a glass I didn't ask for, but what he thought I'd like. Hardly ever came back to see what we needed. Maybe if we'd had a better waiter, my opinion would be different.
Great setting, upstairs next to rail... perfect for romantic dinner. Excellent cocktails and tasty, fresh, warm bread and butter (complimentary) to start the meal. Eric was very good waiter and did his best to make our evening feel like a special occasion, even though it wasn't. Pre-split Farm Salad... Dried cranberries, toasted almonds, goat cheese, sherry vinaigrette, was perfect way to start meal. Wife's Seabass was delicious, as was my Rack of Lamb. Only problem I had with my lamb dish is that it was a small portion and accompanied only by a string of on-the-vine cherry tomatoes. Would be nice if they added another chop to the dish, or at least threw in more vegetables or a starch such as rice or potatoes. Overall, an excellent experience (as usual) and we'll definitely return. Dried cranberries, toasted almonds, goat cheese, sherry vinaigrette
Always a great experience here. The food is amazing (Octopus, Lamb appetizer or entree, Seabass, Bacon-wrapped Dates, etc...you can't go wrong) and the service is always friendly and attentive. They are kid friendly too, but it isn't a place where you'd be bothered by tons of kids if you are on a date.
We made our reservation for a birthday and engagement celebration, party of 5. We ordered drinks and they were very good. The food selection is okay but the items are not well described as written. We decided to order a few small plates to share and they were okay but not great with flavor. Toward the end of our meal we noticed other tables around with food items not on the menu such as pomme frites and potato chips. We asked why they are not on the menu as we would have liked to order a batch of pomme frites. The reply from our waiter was there is a "special menu" -what??? So new customers have no idea of menu items that might make or break a return visit? We found this strange and the food okay but nothing special. The waiter was very nice and polite.
Loved this place! Amazing brunch options and affordable drink specials. They were able to seat us earlier than our reservation, which was awesome. The staff was super attentive and nice. Great place to go with friends for lunch or brunch!! I wish I lived closer so I could go again.
Delicious! Came for a date night, and had a great time! Only note was that the host seemed overwhelmed and didn't remember we had already checked in - he sat 3 walk-ins before we asked about our table, which was 20 minutes after our reservation time, but then he found something quickly for us. Overall great experience, their check-in just needs a little bit of work :)
