Waterman Grille Ratings and Reviews
Waterman's Grille is one of several in a portfolio of restaurants in New England that serves fine food a good value. My wife and I often come for Sunday brunch but the restaurant is a fun venue any day of the week. In the summer, open windows are a real treat and outdoor seating provides for a nice setting for festive events. The food is excellent and the drinks are creative. One of our favorite venues in Providence!
Waterman Grille is a gem. The staff is warm, knowledgeable and professional. The food is creative without freaking out people who don't like "weird" food. They're terrific about rolling with food restrictions and allergies. And the location is lovely and off the beaten path, with plenty of parking, but not actually far at all from downtown.
Recently, I had night out with friends and we try to find new, reputable places to go - this time we chose Waterman Grille. From the time we arrived until the time we left, the experience was GREAT!
We had a warm reception at the door, were seated promptly, and had a wonderful server - Julia, if I recall correctly - who was knowledgeable about the menu and specials.
Our drink, appetizers, meals and desserts were taken from all across the menu and all were prepared wonderfully .
I highly recommend going here! It's a little pricey, but for special occasions definitely make the trip; I don't think you'll be disappointed.
The Waterman Grille is exceptional. Despite the fact that one of our meals was not great (undercooked), when we told the waitperson (Steve), he was extremely professional and offered to "make good on it". Shortly thereafter the hostess, who was also extremely nice, stopped by to apologize and said we would not be charged. Aside from the one meal problem, everything else was excellent - great appetizers, terrific cocktails and wine, and A+ service. Given their courtesy and concern, I would not hesitate to return to the Waterman Grille.
We visit Providence a few times a year from Cape Cod. If we are there for an overnight or are there later in the day we make a point of having dinner at the Waterman Grille. We particularly enjoy sitting on the porch so we can watch the river. This time I had the strip steak and my husband had the pea soup and Gnocchi dish, and everything was delicious!
The "meal" was EXELLENT, but I should have sent back the calamari-It was "sorta" DRY and I ordered a side dish of asparagus and it was very "tiny", but tasty- overall the main meal was delicious-I would go again,,,,,
One other problem-I was there with an elderly person who needed to use the bathroom, which is located down a very steep stairwell-She definitely could NOT go down and up all those stairs-I was very surprised the restaurant wasn't handicapped accessible..????....-I would NOT take a handicapped person there again.
Overall, my wife and I had a very pleasant, satiating experience--aside from the noise. We sat across from each other at a small two-top table, but had to shout at each other just to be heard. The food was great, the drinks were OK, and the staff were all extremely friendly and accommodating.
Pros: Food was delicious, service was great, pleasant view of the river, lots of free parking
Cons: VERY LOUD, a smidge on the pricey side
First time visiting the Waterman Grill for a Date Night and everything was Amazing! Spare Rib appetizer was literally fall of the bone! The Filet Mignon was cooked to perfect and the Duck breast was the best duck I have ever tasted! Highly recommend but reservations I would say are a must!
It was a snowy stormy night be we decided to venture out anyways. Our second time at Waterman Grill and it didn't disappoint. Our waitress was great, she provide detailed descriptions and answered all of our questions along with offering wine pairings for our meals that were wonderful and not too expensive. She was very attentive and made herself available throughout our dining experience.
A little stuffy. Sort of jam packed just raise the prices and give me some space. All crammed in one room. Ritzy crowd good food but it's reasonable all the ritzy rich folk can do better. One guy announced congratulations to your first billion. Settle down guy before you get your friend rolled in the parking lot.
