Busy a bit loud but a fabulous meal and waiter Peter was great
My husband and I went here for his birthday. We live close enough to walk, but for some reason have never eaten here before. We had a wonderful experience and hope to return soon. The food and service were excellent.
As usual, the food and service was fantastic. The server's name was Rachael and she was delightful.
I am looking forward to my niece's baby shower to be held on April 29th. I am sure the brunch will be excellent.
The service was very good, highly attentive and knowledgeable. The drinks were on point, the food, however, was a disappointment. While other tables seemed to be enjoying their dishes my crab cakes and potatoes were way over cooked. Both were very dark brown. The potatoes were not fully cooked inside and the crab cakes tasted if citrus and in dire need of salt.
To be fair, I was very hingry from a long flight so I did request that they be remade. In sure they would have been accommodating give the chance. But, for a upscale restaurant I was surprised the dish was allowed to leave the kitchen.
I'd give them another chance, but, this time I was disappointed.
The restaurant is nice and clean. We loved the food. I would highly recommend Sunday brunch. I can't wait to go back! Service was very attentive.
I have never had such a pleasant expirince , as i did that night. Our waiter Nate was very attentive and curtious amazing service. I would recomend this place to everyone And the food was phenomenal!!!
Great food, service and atmosphere!
My family and I ate here to celebrate my birthday. After ordering a cocktail and checking my ID, the waiter must have noticed that my birthday as I received a free dessert with a candle and “happy birthday” message. Nobody I was eating with had asked them to do this and it was such a nice surprise. Food was amazing too!
An excellent birthday dinner!
My mother and I dined there recently during their Sunday brunch. Both of our meals were delicious and the service provided by Pierre was excellent! We will definitely return again!
A bit expensive, but a great dining experience with great food and wonderful service.
My husband And I came here for brunch. Very nice ambiance, fire place, on the water. Service was very friendly and attentive. I had the crab cake Benedict, and he had the eggs Benedict. Both were great! Bloody Mary was amazing, and brunch cocktails were only $5. I would definitely go back.
We were in town for a weekend trip and found Waterman Grille on tripadvisor website. We were happy with the variety of meat and seafood options, as well as desserts. The wine list is amazing at very reasonable prices for bottles. Service was impeccable. We had a table by the window overlooking the river as the sun went down. Perfect.
We were seated promptly at our reservation time. Waiter service was prompt and attentive. The waiter had a good knowledge of the menu. I had the salmon and my boyfriend had the short rib dinner. Both dishes were presented well, and they tasted delicious.
Excellent service, I work in a bakery that pushes us to carry out flawless customer service , and I was still impressed with the overall care. They go above and beyond to satisfy the guest and serve amazing dishes.
Waterman Grille is always excellent! Great food and service!
Delicious food - the Prince Georges scallops were incredible! And our waiter suggested a way for me to combine two entrees when I wasn't sure which to choose. Absolutely delicious across the board, great service, cool waterfront location a bit out of the way - worth finding and spending an evening there!
Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Appetizers and main course came out within a reasonable amount of time. The pre-fixe menu is such a great deal! Portions we're fabulous, I left with just enough to enjoy later that evening. This was my first time dining as an anniversary celebration and I will most certainly be back for other occasions. 5 stars across the board!
Sunday Brunch exceeded my expectations! Reservation was right on time, waiter was very attentive and fun! Food was exceptional, served nice and hot.
What a beautiful place tucked in where you would never expect. The ambience was comforting and homey. The fireplaces were lovely and the view of the water and rowing was nice to see. Service was excellent and food was delicious. We went for brunch. I loved the french press coffee and my friend was happy with the tea selection. Her salad with salmon was delicious but the side of hash browns was over cooked, as were mine. My omelet was tasty as was the fresh baked biscuit. I look forward to going back again for dinner and drinks sometime. Downstairs they had a large room set up with buffet and what looked like a family party. Plus more bars downstairs. The upstairs bar was quite nice with lots of table seating too.
So many things to love on the menu and wine list. Great vibe and excellent service.
My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Gatehouse September 1998. This is second time we've been back since becoming waterman grille. Always a pleasure. Delicious food, excellent atmosphere and always a very special night out for us.
Great meal, as usual! The Waterman Grille is currently revising its menu and while some of the old favorites, such as the shortribs, are still available, they have also added delicious entrees, including a Monkfish dish. They have also added some new deserts. The beer and wine list are extensive. We have been regulars for years now and have never failed to have a wonderful experience.
My wife ordered the duck and said it was prepared perfect and had great flavor.I ordered the chef boneless rib eye special and I was not impressed with the quality of the cut. It was very grisly. It was prepared as asked and the half that was edible was very good. All the sides were very good and service was outstanding
Food was great and so was the service!
Excellent service, food, atmosphere. I made reservations for my birthday dinner and upon being seated I was given a birthday card that was hand written and signed by the staff. I thought that was a wonderful detail that makes the experience more personal. Of course I ordered dessert after my meal and was again pleasantly surprised with my dessert being on the house.
Exceptional dining experience! We have been to Waterman Grille three times and have never had a bad bite of anything... Always delicious! And they always go above and beyond in everything.... the food... the drinks... and the service is incredible!
I find myself always returning to Waterman Grill instead of checking out the newest restaurant in town, because I know what I'm getting there - guaranteed amazing service, upscale dishes and delicious cocktails. This evening, I ordered the Almond Joy Martini for dessert. It was just the right amount sweet!
Great service, didn’t feel rushed. Staff made my friend feel extra special for her birthday with a card and dessert. I got the special and it was amazing. Cheese board was great and good wine selection. Nice and warm in the restaurant too.
We went to the Waterman Grille for a special occasion- my wife's birthday. The food, service, atmosphere were amazing. Even something as simple as a cheese plate was well-designed for the palate. The entrees were amazing. Our server, Nate, was friendly, attentive, and engaging. When I made the reservation, I noted that this would be a special occasion and they had a card, signed by the staff, waiting at our table. This is so much better than being set upon by a gang of servers singing off key or chanting in cadence, as some other restaurants might do. My wife had the tenderloin special which she loved, and I had the scallops. I'm lactose intolerant, so the server alerted me to the fact that the cooking process would involve butter and the chef substituted with olive oil and the whole meal was a wonderful success. To top the evening off, there was a complimentary dessert (the candy bar) which was rich but not heavy. Overall, a rare dining experience, one of the best in Providence. We'll definitely be back.
Waterman Grille never fails to please. We had a wonderful meal with friends following a concert at the Philharmonic. The service was attentive without being intrusive. My husband had his favorite dish, the short ribs, and they were as tender and as tasty as ever. I tried the pan-roasted monkfish. It was light and flavorful and I liked the crispy scallion pancake accompaniment. Our waiter recommended a Chardonnay that was a perfect fit and nicely chilled. We shared a piece of mango pie, a creamy filling on a wonderful shortbread crust. It was a clear evening and the moon reflected on the river. Altogether a memorable meal and lovely evening.
Excellent views with great food and service. What more could you ask for? I highly recommend.
We had a very nice experience at Waterman. We had an early dinner slot (pre-theater) and were given a corner two person table with a beautiful Providence River view. The dinner menu was very friendly: nce veg options, multiple seafood choices and grilled meats. The restaurant features a wood burning oven - however we didn't have a meat course so, other than a blistered asparagus appetizer, we really didn't give the oven a try.
Dessert had plenty of on-premise made options: we chose a delightful and light Mango Pie.
Wine list was varied and better than most -
Waterman is a part of a large regional group but the place maintains a personal feel - it was a pleasure to eat there.
The view of the river is unique and eating a satisfying dinner gazing out at the water is a pleasure
I've been to the Waterman Grill many times. For this visit I sat at the bar for dinner and drinks. Jay the bartender/waiter was, as always, great. He makes a good drink and was very attentive.
Give Waterman Grill a try.
We had an absolutely perfect Sunday brunch, despite dreary the dreary weather -- scenic location; great ambience; excellent drinks and food (highly recommend the Eggs Benedict; the burgers at the next table looked wonderful too), warm and efficient waitstaff, ample and easy parking, all without breaking the bank. Wish we lived closer -- I'd go every week -- but we'll definitely return when we're in the Providence area.
This is our 2nd time for Brunch - Food was great, Bloody Mary's are hand done not with a mix and were delicious. Cappuccino was perfect, coffee was very good. The waitress was very attentive. The whole staff atmosphere treated everyone one like they were their only table. It was a pleasure and we didn't feel rushed at all.
WG does not disappoint. Another solid experience!!
My husband and I really loved the food and atmosphere. All the staff were gracious and helpful. The free dessert in celebration of our anniversary was a very pleasant surprise. It was very noisy but won't stop us from coming back.
