Oysters, mussels, crab cake, tuna poke, Chilean sea bass, Dover sole, mixed greens. Perfect. Cocktails on point. Service spot on. Ocean view was tranquilizing.

$12.00 to park the car! Outrageous!
The food was good but extremely overpriced! $30.00 for one little piece of fish with a few French fries. I had to pay $7.00 for a side of cole slaw! Any other restaurant I would have payed $15.00 for everything.

The Downtown Los Angeles location of the Water Grill is excellent, so I was hoping for the same from the Santa Monica location, but I was disappointed. The chowder was not hot, for example, and we ordered some oysters that never came. We had to have them removed from our bill. The brussel sprouts were undercooked and hard. The cocktails were very good though. I would return for a drink, but not a full dinner. Save some money and go to Santa Monica Seafood instead for the best seafood in Santa Monica. Or, go the the DTLA Water Grill, which is much better for the price.

We had a great experience start to finish. Our waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable about all the food and drinks.
Everything was fresh with many unusual preparations which I enjoy—Who wants to go out for a special evening and have the food be uninspired? Drinks were also fabulous.
I definitely recommend Water Grill.

Disappointed on the table given to us. Made reservations and it was on the end with a lot of traffic and very crowded. Beware of the end tables near the raw seafood bar it really made the experience not as memorable due to the seating.

After being seated by the friendly hostess.
Dinner was to celebrate a birthday, there was no acknowledgement.
Service was very disappointing. Oyster appetizer arrived after entries: Sand dabs, Scallops, Sea bass were delivered. ( Mgr did stop by to apologize and comped appetizer). The entries were fine. We had to request dinner rolls.
Table service only stopped by once to refill water.
After coffee was delivered we had to request dessert menus. Bread pudding and banana sundae were fine.
The lack of service gave the feeling of being discriminated against.

Our waiter, Chris, provided attentive and excellent service. The cold seafood platter was delicious. As locals we appreciate the no corkage fee which is extremely unusual. Will return often.

Water Grill always deliver. Great views, excellent seafood, oyster lover's paradise and the most friendly corkage policy in Town.

Had a reservation for 8:15pm and didn’t get seated for 45 minutes. The gentleman that served our wine was either drunk or on drugs. He spilled the wine on the table and made slurring remarks. The waiter was amazing and very helpful.

High expectations were definitely not met. We had 8 pm dinner reservations for two and were not seated until 9 pm after being continually told it would be another 10-15 minutes.
Our server was nice and tried apologizing but the restaurant was behind so it also took us a while to order and get our appetizers. By the time we were finished it was 10 pm and over ordering entrees.
Understand that this can happen at a restaurant but never saw the manager or had them come apologize. Was excited to try the food but will have to be convinced to try and go here again

I should be clear that this review is for the night we came two nights before this review date. It was very windy and cold outside. We were seated by a window which is a premium seat overlooking the beach. I was really cold and told the waitress and they brought me a blanket. I was very uncomfortable having to hold the blanket around my shoulders with one hand and try to eat with the other. My teeth were almost chattering, I was that uncomfortable. I asked again if anyone else was complaining and the waitress said yes. By the time we were finished with our meal, it was raining outside which makes it even colder. Finally they closed the window. If Wednesday wasn't a special day for us being Valentines day, I would never go back.

To be fair, we were seated directly beside the kitchen so it was very noisy, also it was Valentines day so very busy. The server was spot on fantastic. The food was mostly delicious-grilled brussels were a little TOO grilled. Too burnt to eat. Mashed potatoes were terrific, steak was a perfect medium rare. The seafood fritters were mushy inside and undercooked. If I could give a half star, I would rate Water grill a four and a half.

Nice location with a beautiful sunset view over the ocean. Really nice perfectly fitting interior design to make a place comfortable for the type of meals served. Great service and amazing fresh fish. Love everything about it and would definitely recommend for seafood lovers.

Food was excellent! Service was great! The ambiance was amazing! We went for lunch during the week. It’s great for business meeting because the noise level was very moderate and it wasn’t overly crowded. The view of the ocean was spectacular! I would definitely go back again.

The fish is great and the crab legs were delicious. I am not a fan of lobster but my dinner companions said it was great also. Very pricey but the service and menu at least try to match the price. I would return.

Great fresh seafood, great menu items, and a decent wine list. If you are looking for fresh seafood, this is the place to go. Our server was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. Food came out fairly quickly too. I rated high for the food and service.
That being said, I have 2 negative comments: One is that the restroom is a public restroom with a code access. It's not located directly in the restaurant, it's through a hallway near the lobby of the main building and it just detracts from the entire dining experience. Also, there was quite a wait for valet for drop off and pick up. If you are not in any rush to be somewhere after dinner, valet is fine. Otherwise, I suggest you park it yourself at the public garage around the corner from the restaurant for $2 less. It might be quicker to get in and out.
