Great food but better company
Fresh high quality seafood cooked to perfection
Ambiance was great
Amazing seafood, really fresh, tasty and properly cooked. The place is also really nice and the service is great, maybe just a little bit noisy as it’s big, but not so much to impede conversation. Excellent value for money, too. You should definitely try it!
Terrific location, good quality and prepared well.
Located on Ocean Avenue, near Wilshire, it has a great view of the park and the ocean
All the fish and oysters were fresh and prepared perfectly.
We have been to this spot many times and occasionally they have service problems. Yesterday was one of those. Food is always good but service can be sketchy.
Server/Somm was great! It was a wonderful afternoon eating oysters and seafood while people watching and sipping on beautiful wines. We will be back!!
Service was below par but food was good
The mussels were some of the best I have had and the crab cake very good for the appetizers.
Two of us had the Sea bass and one had halibut -there was nothing "wrong" with either but nothing memorable either. Both were prepared the same way with different accompaniments but for $47 and $37 respectively I envisioned more interesting flavors. Would definitely return for appetizers but skip the entrees.
Great food and great service.. We had a great time.
Came here to celebrate our anniversary with family and my sisters halibut was completely over cooked. Dry and tough. We sent it back. I ordered the lobster roll which was good but my fries were also over fried. They were dark brown and hollow on the inside. I didn’t eat them. The fritto misty was ok. King crab bites were not worth it. Waitress was no where to be found half the time. Definitely will not be back.
Great for every occasion!
Just ok food
Way overpriced for the fine dining experience they promise but don’t deliver
Everything was good, the service was really good. I can't say it was great or fabulous. Overall a good experience
We’ve been to Water Grill quite a few times now and what I’ve noticed is that on busy days, they really lose the charm, quality, and attention to detail you would find on a normal night. Granted, this happens only when they’re busy, but for the price you’re paying, you would hope and expect service and food to be top notch.
I definitely recommend Water Grill, just don’t go on days where you suspect a high volume of people to be out and about.. for example, Mother’s Day.
Overrated. It’s extremely expensive for tiny portions and the food isn’t great. Service is subpar and because it’s in a “touristy location” they get away with it. If the food was worth the price it’d be one thing. Won’t be going back. Unless you like to overpay, I wouldn’t recommend it.
Worst ever service. Rude hostess. Fish was dry.
Only very special occasions very expensive meals and cocktails
None of us really liked our food. Chowder -- the veggies were all undercooked and it had 3 (!) clams in it. Sand dabs were way overcooked and not boned. Soft shell crabs not appealing. Crudo had weird combo of flavors. Ironically, steak was OK.
Not a good experience.
We truly enjoyed our evening at the Water Grill. "Above and Beyond" service from soup to nuts. The food was fresh, local and innovative. Still thinking about the Chilean Sea Bass.
Everything from the drinks to the food was excellent as well as the service from the knowledgeable wait staff and other staff.
Wonderful Mother’s Day experience with my family. See you next year for this special occasion.
Excellent food and service. Would gladly come back here!
Excellent Food. The staff cares for you and makes sure you have a wonderful experience.
The food is first rate but it never arrives hot. Always lukewarm or cold. We like that there is no corkage fee. Heat the plates!
We very much enjoyed our dinner. The service was excellent and the food was delicious.
The halibut was exceptional, although expensive. My date and I ordered the same... here’s a suggestion when serving the same item, they should be the same size, mine was 2/3 the size of my date’s.
The food is always very good. View is terrific. Staff very good.
great place on the beach to meet up and watch people. the drinks and bar are busy and fun but the kitchen downtown does a lot better with the menu then the Santa Monica location. waitstaff is top drawer and our reservation was waiting for us which is always nice at such a busy spot. it's a very popular place for the tourists and business crowd, but has managed to become a fixture while the other Ocean Blvd. spots all burn out after a couple years.
Great experience at the Water Grill. Food was fantastic, extensive wine list, solid oyster menu and very friendly staff
Best seafood in LA, hands down. The food is fresh and they always have something new and creative on the menu. Service is always very good and attentive. I have never had a bad meal or service here and i love the ambiance and view.
Our waiter was the best!
Wonderful service and great food!
Great food. Great location. Little pricey for the portion sizes. Why does everything have to be à la cart. Just throw a few bucks worth of potatoes on it. 12 bucks to park with validation. I hate that for lunch.
Sat us 30 mins after our reservation. Was out of 2 things we tried ordering. Wait staff was rude, and not helpful.
Water Grill is a great place to celebrate a special occaison. It was my son's 30th birthday and we wanted to create a great memory of having lobster at a restaurant as a child when we spent time in the Hamptons. What a great pick! Opentable made it easy to narrow down our selection; and after reading a couple of reviews, this was the place.
Our waiter quickly acknowledged my son's birthday as soon as we sat down and the evening was quite festive right from the beginning. Cudos to the wait staff.
We ordered the Deluxe Seafood Tower. It was delicious and impressive in size, quality and the selection of chilled seafood. It was the first time, that I have ever ordered a tower, but it won't be my last either. After we saw how hungry the group was we ordered two Lobster rolls to split, additional shrimp and then our waiter brought over the birthday dessert with a candle which made the evening perfect!
good food great service Megan is best waiter/waitress ever
Awesome dining, easy for bill to add up if you order speciality seafood dishes ($400 for 2), but well worth it! If you can get it, the booths by the window allow a great view of the ocean and people watching. Chris
This location is very noisy. Not suitable for a family dinner where you want to talk to each other. The music and atmosphere is just high energy- between people and the outside PCH noise. The food is great! Service was excellent! A little drafty for older people. Definitely got a kid friendly menu. A little on the pricey side for th serving size.
I love this location and usually the food. This time the roasted halibut was extremely spicy and washed out all the flavor. For the price it wasn’t worth it
