Water Grill - Santa Monica
Wild Eastern Sea Scallop

new england style
Wild Ecuadorian Swordfish
a la plancha, with spaghetti squash and tapenade
The food and service are top notch. It is expensive but you can find excellent values on the menu and in the wine list.
The host and server were outstanding. The host reminded me to set up an open table reservation before I checked in, then immediately sat us. Then the server knew the menu very well and took just the right amount of care of our group. Would just say the food was either extremely good (the cod and swordfish were amazing) or really bland (the tuna was not onky not spicy but underwhelming to two our our guests). The bread waa also skippable which was a shame. Yet would go back any day for the cod. One of the best I've ever had
Our server Turan was a gem. Great experience. My son loved his sushi and bread pudding. And my sea bass was elegantly prepared and presented, and it tasted fantastic.
Food was cold.. the waiter was attentive but no apology for the food been cold but he did replace it!
Food was very good, service spotty
Our waiter was amazing. Food was good until we found a hair in the Chilean sea bass. Ruined the food experience after that.
I can't stand when busboys insist on cleaning the table.
Servers need to know who ordered what.
Superb in every way. Worth the price.
The food was delicious but pricey. Wine was also pricey. $200 for two of us, 4 total glasses of wine, two delicious sushi rolls, 1 beet salad and 1 so so Niçoise salad.
Ordered the miso cod and it did not taste fresh and was slightly cold. Service was good and setting is pretty but the food is going downhill.
Just not what I expected for the price point. Could go elsewhere and get better quality/quantity food for the same price points. In all honesty don’t think I will be back.
The food was excellent as was the service. However, ordering the "fresh catch" of sea bass and being charged $74 was obnoxious
We had a party of eight people. The king platter was good. The salmon entree was a little too salty. Worse is the service. They totally forgot to deliver whisky we ordered for a guest. When we asked the waitress, she was asking us to order another whisky while failing to deliver the first one. And they even asked for 20% service charge with such services.
Great atmosphere with comfortable seating with a glass lined kitchen and attentive staff. Well located on Ocean Ave with access to Santa Monica Pier.
The views are amazing!! Food delicious. Service was very slow.
Amazing king crab
overall pretty good, good service and nice ambiance and view. Recommended.
Good but overpriced for what you get. Service was ok, felt unnatural and inexperienced.
It was very pleasing and foods were amazing. It was valentine's day and it was very crowded even at 10pm. Service was great and surf and turf and seafoods were excellent.
Wouldn’t come on a special holiday due to the menu is pre fixed and you can’t order anything else
We went for our Valentines and Anniversary date, and we had an amazing time as always. Even though they had a limited menu that night, we were excited to hear that the raw bar was still open and we were able to order some of our favorite items.
My server Melissa straight lied to me and was a terrible server
Valentines Prix Fixe was a bargain at $90. (We has upgraded the $75 by ordering Lobster at an additional $15 cost.). When it turned out the restaurant ran out of our prechosed dessert, the manager stopped by with his card to invite us back for a free one. CLASS!
Food options are typically great. The fish, oysters, and lobsters are to die for ... haven't tried crab. Unfortunately, on Valentine's day, the service was really slow. We had to 30-35 minutes for food and they also ran out of the dessert we ordered. Essentially, a delay on a busy day is expected but not to an extent where you get a headache waiting for food. Anyway, sea food is great and the flavors are adventurous but service needs to be quicker.
A couple was sitting beside us during Valentines Day. The woman broke the glass of champagne and a piece of glass cut my arm. I handed it to the manager and he only apologized after my husband stated it was wrong to let a drunk couple in your establishment. My 70 year old mother was there and was very upset with the incident. It was not a pleasant experience. We don't recommend.
Kimberly, our server, was amazing and warm.
The cheesy bread the have you start with is delicious.
The scallops in the curry cauliflower sauce were the best scallops I’ve ever had!!
Classy joint, lots of people.
Yes I think the ambience is really good for small group of friends cheering their time
Super consistent, always great. The best thing is the fact that there is no corkage if you bring in your own bottle. The staff is super friendly, the food is always spot on, and the location is spectacular. Overall, I highly recommend the Water Grill.
We love going to Water Grill.
Great experience and meal.
Our waiter Joe was just perfect.
OVERALL RECOMMENDATION COLORED BY THE FACT THAT WE WAITED FOR A WINDOW SEAT FOR ABOUT TWENTY OR THIRTY MINUTES AND OUR TABLE WAS GIVEN TO PEOPLE WHO HAD JUST COME IN. WHEN I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE HOST, HE APOLOGIZED BUT SAID HE CANNOT UNSEAT PEOPLE ONCE THEY WERE SEATED AND WE WOULD BE SEATED AT THE NEXT AVAILABLE WINDOW SEAT. HE OFFERED A GLASS OF CHAMPAGNE WHILE WE CONTINUED TO WAIT, BUT THIS HAD ALREADY SET THE MOOD FOR A LESS THAN SATISFACTORY VALENTINE'S DAY. MY DINNER WAS FINE BUT MY HUSBAND FOUND HIS CHOICES TOO SALTY. I AM SORRY THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED BECAUSE THE WATER GRILL WAS ON OF MY FAVORITE RESTAURANTS.
This is my favorite restaurant in all of Los Angeles, and I eat out a lot. The food is excellent - the freshest seafood you can get in a restaurant, and so perfectly prepared in creative and delicious ways. The service is always great - everyone is polite and efficient. You can count on Water Grill Santa Monica for the best of everything in a restaurant.
Ordered expensive sea bass came out undercooked they then took it back and re-cooked the same pieces of fish and tried to re-serve even then it was still not cooked correctly they did in fairness take it off the bill
It seems that if it is raining in Santa Monica they understaff the restaurant’s
We had a fabulous waiter, Nick, who just did a wonderful job over the course of the entire meal.
Very highly recommended!
We had an Amazing server, Richard. He was accommodating, knowledgeable and very attentive .
Great food and great service as always
Food was very good as was the service
We had a business dinner and knew we could bring our own wine (no corkage fee for the first 6 bottles, we had 2). This took alcohol off our tab (short of tipping appropriately for the service) and made our total tab for AMAZING seafood very reasonable.
We had California spiny lobster (in season and cooked fresh to order), oysters, stone crab and sides...not to mention their amazing clam chowder! It all amounted to a great dinner for 3 that was reasonable given the freshness, flavor and impeccable service.
Every location (Dallas, Santa Monica, South Coast, etc) is consistently fresh and enjoyable!
