Water Grill - Santa Monica Ratings and Reviews
To be fair, we were seated directly beside the kitchen so it was very noisy, also it was Valentines day so very busy. The server was spot on fantastic. The food was mostly delicious-grilled brussels were a little TOO grilled. Too burnt to eat. Mashed potatoes were terrific, steak was a perfect medium rare. The seafood fritters were mushy inside and undercooked. If I could give a half star, I would rate Water grill a four and a half.
Nice location with a beautiful sunset view over the ocean. Really nice perfectly fitting interior design to make a place comfortable for the type of meals served. Great service and amazing fresh fish. Love everything about it and would definitely recommend for seafood lovers.
Food was excellent! Service was great! The ambiance was amazing! We went for lunch during the week. It’s great for business meeting because the noise level was very moderate and it wasn’t overly crowded. The view of the ocean was spectacular! I would definitely go back again.
Great fresh seafood, great menu items, and a decent wine list. If you are looking for fresh seafood, this is the place to go. Our server was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. Food came out fairly quickly too. I rated high for the food and service.
That being said, I have 2 negative comments: One is that the restroom is a public restroom with a code access. It's not located directly in the restaurant, it's through a hallway near the lobby of the main building and it just detracts from the entire dining experience. Also, there was quite a wait for valet for drop off and pick up. If you are not in any rush to be somewhere after dinner, valet is fine. Otherwise, I suggest you park it yourself at the public garage around the corner from the restaurant for $2 less. It might be quicker to get in and out.
Great location, impressive service and very good food. Wine list, both by the glass or bottle was far better than most restaurants. I had the roasted beet salad as a starter and it was exceptional, not your average beet salad...far more interesting. For an entrée I ordered the swordfish. It was cooked to perfection. I would definitely return on my next visit to Santa Monica.
It was my Aunt and Uncle's 50th wedding anniversary. Richard, our waiter was helpful in pacing our meal. Although the restaurant does not charge for corkage (unbelievable), assistance in pouring wines was slow. No fee for cutting a cake I brought in either. Amazing! The oysters and clams were delicious. The sablefish also delightful. The cioppino is nothing special, in fact disappointing. However, generally speaking, I will return another day to try other fare.
A meh experience, for sure.
Snobby server- bussers and food runners very kind and welcoming.
Food was nothing special: ordered 4 different types of fish, the Brussels sprouts, squash and the lobster, but none of the dishes were outstanding in flavor nor in presentation. In fact, the squash had such a strong mesquite taste that 5 of us could not finish the small dish.
Restaurant has a noticeable old-frying-oil odor when you first walk in.
The view is absolutely stunning, especially around sunset.
Did not try the fresh seafood bar items, and won’t since we will not be coming back.
Restaurant is really interesting inside. The decor is really nice and you can tell they spent a lot of money on it. The food was good and service was good too, but it was quite loud and really expensive. For two people without alcohol or dessert and only 1 appetizer and 1 salad it was almost $100/person with tip.
Outstanding service and a reasonable selection of beers and wine to go along with their magnificent fish and shellfish dishes. I ordered the Black Cod Miso and it was amazing. My wife ordered the Wild Tahitian Big Eye Tuna and it was "very good" but not great. Partially because they gave my wife and me a great table it was overall a wonderful dining experience.
