Amazing spot, and great food. Would definitely recommend
Excellent restaurant, great assortment of fresh fish selections, Shrimp Louie was interesting and different, Salmon roll was fantastic. John was a great waiter. We'll be back.
Food is fresh and amazing! Would definitely go back and recommend to friends.
Sat at the bar with my wife on Saturday night. We had a great time and the bartenders were fantastic. We’ll be back👍
I have been dining at the Water Grill for many years and I am sorry to see a good restaurant deteriorate so badly. I come from a family of restaurantors and gourmet chefs. I usually never complain or even write reviews. But this experience required a critique. The service was slow but waiters spoke in a rushed and robotic manner. I was appalled to see servers handle glassware with fingers on the rim rather than from the base. The silverware was dirty. Menus were left on chairs from prior diners. The food came cold , overcooked and tasteless. The cooks wore the required Covid masks with noses and mouths exposed. The noise level was simply annoying and not celebratory or joyous. The dessert was not penetrable by the supplied utensils. Sorry to see a good restaurant deteriorate so badly.
This was a birthday celebration for two of the four guests in our party. Our waitress was superb. She really paid attention to us and took care of all our needs by explaining items on the menu and also substitutions. There were a few hiccups with our food order and the manager came over and apologized for the issue then took care of those items on our bill. Overall it was a great experience.
Experience was just ok. I’ve had better food I. The Bay Area. The food was served cold.
Excellent food, very knowledgeable and personable server, friendly attentive hosts. Ambiance is second to none, absolutely fabulous experience! Can’t wait to come back!
We had to wait 15 minutes past our reservation to be seated even though there were many empty tables. It took 20 minutes to get a drink and one hour to get a dozen oysters. I had the chowder which was bland and my friend had fish tacos which were soggy. A waiter takes your order and someone else delivers the food which doesn’t work here. They did take the tacos off the bill. Won’t be going back.
The service was awful, we didn’t get to order our main dish until and hour and a half of being there. We waited a full 30 mins after our appetizer for our sever to show up again, and had to ask for him. Unfortunately bad experience for a birthday dinner for my fiancé. They tried to make up for it at the end with the birthday dessert. However, we don’t appreciate the sever being MIA for the three hours we’re there and then trying to sweeten us up as the bill comes.
A great spot for people watching with the Pacific adding ambience, especially when seated outside.
Great selection, especially oyster varietals! Not cheap but no surprise considering the prime location.
Food was good and flavorful. We had the scallops and tuna entrees. Very small portions but nicely presented. Service was friendly but very slow. Waited about 15 minutes before anyone took our drink order and then another 15 mins to get drinks. Bread was delicious and serving chilled water as opposed to a glass full of ice was a nice touch!
I would not recommend the restaurant. Unfortunately, my $49 Chilean Sea Bass was too salty. My dish came with cauliflower puree but i think they ran out because my dish, literally had enough for 1 spoon full. My friends Sea scallops dish was too sweet. She did not like it. We left feeling disappointed.
Overall we really enjoyed this restaurant. The service was good and the food was good. Nothing was outstanding for the prices so I can’t give it tip marks. We had a nice table looking out to the street/beach which was nice. Our server was really great. I would return and be mindful of what I order.
Wasnt as good as ive had. Halibut cheeks were overcooked and dry. Fish tacos nit seasoned. Was sad there was a nice grilled shrimp entree. Had wonderful experiences in the past. Still love this place but not as thrilled about it as i was before
The Water Grill never disappoints. Such a great menu. I wish they didn’t take the branzino off of the menu. It was one of my favorites. We had the muscles and calamari for an appetizer and then the most delicious fish with the butternut squash.
We got a great booth, great service and delicious food and wine. A wonderful spot in Santa Monica.
Water Grill isn't cheap by any means but well worth the price!
Awesome experience! Food, service and ambience first rate!
I had a friend visiting from the east coast and we came to WG for early an early dinner. Our experience was perfection from the moment we entered to the finish. Our server made great recommendations, was attentive, and every dish was exceptional. The manager came by to make sure we enjoyed the food and service.
Superb menu and service. Unique, special place
We had been before and were looking forward to returning.
We waited nearly 20 mins for our pre dinner cocktails.
Crab cake starter was good. Our mains arrived but without our sides. The server asked if there was anything else and we mentioned our sides. He said he would get them immediately. It took 20 mins. They were no longer sides at this point….
He seemed to think that by comping the sides the problem was solved.
Suggest they need to get the basics right and actually take ownership of an issue. The kitchen’s cooking is being let down by front of house.
Best restaurant on OCEAN AVE. Perfect service. Thank you for maintaining your standards through the craziest of times. 110 STARS
Everything was great from the front desk to the service and the food.
Amazing food and service
Great food and drink
Consistently an overwhelming favorite of friends and family. Great service, excellent food and great ambiance!
Food was excellent, service very good!
Food at water grill never disappoints. The service was great. Our only complaint if you could call it that is the level of noise is quite high. Also, as with most other restaurants it’s gotten very expensive over the last year but we truly enjoyed our dinner
Water Grill is a good place to go for dinner. For me, looking for seafood. And a drink perhaps. We sat outside on the patio and had a good time.
Waaaay too expensive, even for a business dinner. $18.50 for a Chopan vodka is a gouge.
Delicious! Salmon was great! Lobster roll too! Had our large dog with us and they were very nice to him . Service was great⭐️
Our server Mitch was great. Had really good knowledge of the menu and drinks. Attentive and caring service
The bass was amazing!
Oysters were awesome. Nantucket scallops were 4/5 ok. Clam chowder was creamy but was missing the quality flavor I was looking for. My cocktail was delicious, Accidental Crossing 10/10.
Great food, great service that is right on the ocean. What more could you want?
Always fantastic! 1 of my favorites.
