Gorgeous views and fantastic food! We had Oysters, Calamari, Shrimp, and more. Everything tasted fresh and flavors were incredible. Service was in par with the food, as well. It was a busy Saturday night, but everyone made time for us. Gorgeous location, exactly what we were looking for for a Saturday night on the pier!
Lively atmosphere, delicious food and cocktails, excellent service. Beautiful location across from the beach.
Nice ambiance and the food was very good
The food was amazing. We were visiting for a work event and got a reservation same day. The butternut squash ravioli was divine, as well as all the seafood dishes. But the prize winner was the caramel bread pudding. We debating eating there again the next night the food was so good. The wait staff is also super friendly!
Good fish selection, good wine available and creative sides and appetizers.
Great place for dinner with friends. We were there for a very long time and no one asked us to leave. We like that
Really enjoyed. Staff was lovely
We go there a lot but this is the first time that service was inattentive and the food orders were not well coordinated
Great sea food
Fish n chips outstanding
Salmon very good
Fresh Bread amazing
Not bad. But not as good as I expected.
The food is good and the service is great but it is very expensive.
Had the Fish & Chips. Fresh wild-caught cod, very thin breading- almost delicate. Fries were the right cut and quantity. Highly recommend.
We have been here on multiple occasions. It’s a fantastic restaurant, however on this occasion I wasn’t impressed with the black cod...overly salty, yet not flavourful. Last time we had the halibut, which was much better.
The view of the sunset was excellent and the service was wonderful. The food was tasty enough. The restaurant was overall too loud. Possible to hold conversations but just barely.
Great location. I had the Cod in miso. It was relatively bland. Waiter was very nice and got me fresh ginger, which helped a little.
It was disappointing they only had one certified sustainable fish on their menu - chilean sea bass. That too was bland.
Sourdough bread, however, was excellent.
The food here is amazing. The view and atmosphere more so. The service can be a little stuffy and distant - definitely NOT warm, and almost perfunctory but the kitchen sends out top-notch food, so it makes that a little less noticeable. Will definitely be back however. The Seafood is amazing as is to be expected, but even other dishes like the spiced yogurt and arugula roasted beet salad are stars.
Teal is an amazing waitress
Food and service was great. Only downside was, I couldn’t hear my friend across the table... because 4 very drunk women 4 tables away were talking/screaming/laughing so hard. That was the only issue ;)
always the most delicious food and fantastic service
One the best in Santa Monica
I took a chance because I had never been there before. What a great decision I made. Our server Chris was amazing, the food was delicious, the decor was beautiful, the drinks were on point for an amazing evening. Your greeters were fabulous! I really give you a "10"!! However, I was worried about parking, but it turned out OK...a little bit pricey, but OK.
We arrived and stated our reservation and the attendant did not acknowledge me at all. I wasn’t sure if he heard me or didn’t. I presumed he did after I watched the curt treatment of others coming in. Very crowded/jostling, extremely noisy where we could not hear each other at all. Our waiter was charming, polite, but hurried (not his fault). Appetizer was so over salted it was actually inedible, like the cap came off the salt shaker level of salty. The quality of the fish and shellfish was excellent. Their cioppino was nothing like a fish stew, more like seafood in spicy tomato pasta sauce. Disappointing although, again, the seafood quality was good. Ordered bread pudding for dessert and it was super dry, super dense, and had so much salt chucks on it we couldn’t get rid of the salt. Imagine normal bread pudding that been dehydrated and left out a few days then covered in salt chunks. For $220, I feel like we wasted both our time and money. Nothing romantic at all about the place but if you can’t stand your partner’s voice, then this is good because it is so loud you won’t hear him/her. (Btw, the window seats are open windows at night and very cold.) Waiter tried his best and was charming though.
Service didn’t match the food or price of food. Informed our waitstaff about unstable table and met with disappointing response without attempt to fix issue.
Delicious oysters and lobster. Mediocre service.
Everyone there is so friendly - our server Allison - was fantastic.
Our waiter was good, but not attentive. Food was good, but limited selection. Over all, a nice place to eat.
Enjoyed superb dinner to celebrate a family birthday. Service was professional and friendly. Fantastic location. Thank you!
very fresh ouster with good wine in the good place
The oyster selection is very good. The wine by the glass selections good as well, and moderately priced. Sitting by the window is lovely, and that's why I dine here. While the service is great, most of the food options (and I've tried a fair number over time) are unexceptional, certainly for their cost. If you know what you're doing, you can have a nice experience here.
Great food and service
Great Service- We asked for a seat near the window to see the sunset and they accommodated us. The waiter was very professional and gave us great recommendations. We had the Sea Bass and the Swordfish and both melted in our mouths. Great Food, Great Service...a little pricey but well-worth it on a date night.
I had chosen the Water Grill to celebrate my daughters birthday with the family because it looked very classy in your pictures and was located on Ocean Avenue with a view of the sunset. The tables for two near the windows were great but since there were six of us we had to sit on the side with no window view except for maybe one person. The food was great and so was the service but the atmosphere was more like a sports bar than high end restaurant. Not what I had hoped for but maybe fine if that’s what you expect. The place was also way noisier than we had anticipated. Not our kind of place but great for a date.
Great restaurant and good food!!
It was our first time in Santa Monica and also my husbands bday. We had a great meal the service was super nice and got to sit right along the window with a nice view
Our dinner was wonderful. Chip was our server - he was friendly, and knowledgeable and we appreciated his suggestions. Tried the spiny lobster and glad we did!
Best seafood in LA
I was in Santa Monica visiting from Chicago this last week, a party of 9 including myself couldn't get a reservation at another nearby seafood restaurant because they "don't book parties over 5 because they have had trouble with large parties..." I ended up finding Water Grill, read the reviews and booked our party with no issue. We had 1 incredible server named Dan, who made sure everyone had everything they needed at any given point during the night. The food was incredible!! From the warm bread served the minute you sit, to enormous lobster I got, to the decadent desserts we all shared! We couldn't believe the affordability for all that we got! We did bring 2 bottles of wine with so that helped, but still! We paid about $100 per person with gratuity and found that extremely well priced for such a fancy dinner!
Food and service were on point! Just the right amount of balance between polish and convo from the server. Sat in the window at sunset and enjoyed chilled seafood to start and then King crab legs and fresh whole Black Sea Bass. Sides were killer too with the squash over the pistachio and mint couscous(or similar grain) stealing the show. No booze and dinner came in around 250 before tip with dessert, coffee, bottle water and no holding back when selecting food. Very happy with value, I have paid more for less! I also worked in the industry for decades and very rarely through around compliments like this.
thoroughly enjoyed the sea bass and swordfish. good service but like most other restaurants, we seemed to be in and out all too quickly
I'm from Louisiana...worst shrimp and grits ever. Guy with me had a burger that was excellent.
