Water Grill - Downtown
Valentines fixed menu . overall excellent food and selection despite fixed options. Loved the fresh oysters , crab cake apps. Swordfish and sea bass mains were outstanding. Who could pass up the bread pudding ?
-special thanks to server Austin who was friendly and attentive.
we will be back!
Amazing food and service.
It was great!
The server was wonderful .
Food was outstanding !
Service was horrible. Food was good. Not great. Very expensive.
Amazing fish- had blackened sea bass. Great wine by the glass list.Great service and nice staff.
our black lady server was so slow! can’t believe her manager stepped in. If we don’t waive our havens or trying to get attention, no one was coming to take the order at table
Food was excellent, service was good but very slow
Service is always amazing
We love the water grill and they always do a great job. One small criticism is that I ordered the little neck clams and what came out was Cherrystones. Too big and too strong a flavor. Otherwise lovely. One other thing to know is that you can no longer leave your car in their garage while you’re at the music center or they will charge you $26 for parking.
Food was mediocre at best and very expensive. Service was excellent though.
We had an outstanding family birthday celebration. The oysters and shrimp cocktails were fresh and tasty. The wedge salad is a very generous portion with perfect bacon pieces and bleu cheese crumbles. All our entrees were delicious - lobster, sea bass and salmon. The service was outstanding!! A favorite restaurant!
The food was terrific. But the service was incredibly slow. 2 of us for dinner. It took a half hour to get my drink and sparkling water. We had two appetizers, clam chowder and Poke, dinner was the sea bass for me and crab legs for my husband. No wine or other complications. For dessert we split the cheesecake and an extra scoop of ice cream. We left two and a half Hours later. Nothing we ordered should have involved a lot of prep time. We arrived around 430p on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was almost empty. When we left at 7pm almost every table was taken.
My review would have been higher except for the fact that our waiter encouraged us to get the lobster and that it would be a better value than other choices. My wife and I were sharing a meal and only wanted 1 LB. The waiter thought that wouldn't be enough, but we assured him that it would with the sides we ordered. He proceeded to serve us 1.5 pounds of lobster and charged us for it. I wasn't in the mood for a confrontation and let it slide. But, it left a bad taste in our mouths.
Food was amazing, as always, but the service by our waiter was what made is much better (unfortunately I can't remember his name now)!!
Everything was so good. The drinks, appetizers, main course ( steak and Chilean sea bass) and the bread pudding were perfection.
Service and food wrre superb.
Convenient valet parking available. Food preparation was excellent. Unfortunately, our waiter was away for long periods of time
a little delay in seating.
staff very accommodating
manager comped a couple drinks and very apologetic, had a nice seat.
Pricy, but worth treating yourself. Delicious food, -plenty of variety. Lots of atmosphere- fun, a bit noisy, great for large and small groups.
Amazing customer service and the food is amazing !
Always good to be back for quality oyster and Chilean sea bass.
The check in staff was outstanding! We felt welcomed and heard. We will definitely go back. Our guests had a wonderful time too. Thank you!
Wait staff and servers were fantastic and very attentive, the person that seated us was very attentive and friendly. While our food was all very good none of it seemed to come out hot. It was almost as if the food was left sitting for awhile before being served. The exception was the coffee at the end of the meal
which was perfectly acceptable. I would love to try the place again, however my wife was put off by the temperature of the food.
Disappointing - food was ok. We had DineLA special shrimp cocktail and Caesar salad were not high quality and desert was not impressive. Main courses - steak and sea bass were good. But overall it was an expensive dinner not wort the price
There for DineLA. Chris was our waiter and is fantastic. Always smiling and personable. We laughed a lot and it felt like we’ve known him for years. Food was awesome too! Can’t wait to go back and try the other dishes.
Great food ambience
The entire meal was excellent. Everyone had fish at the table. The mahi mahi, black cod, salmon and sea bass was cooked to perfection. I definitely recommend trying the food here.
Went for a birthday lunch and ordered salmon and risotto from their Dine LA menu. It was delicious. Cooked perfectly. The service was spot on. Pro tip: valet for $10 with restaurant validation. And no corkage! I'll definitely be back.
Not sure I would recommend it for a special occasion because portions were small and service was standard but nothing special. Was celebrating a birthday and that information was included in reservation but nothing special was offered.
Very busy, active place. I ate at the bar and the service was outstanding. Wine list was more than adequate.
We had an amazing dinner. Brandon our waiter was more than spectacular. Thank you for making our date night a good one. We needed it.
We went for the first time for Dine LA Restaurant Week and are definitely planning on going back! Food was excellent (calamari, clam chowder, salmon, sea bass, espresso cake, and bread pudding) and portions were very generous. Interacted with 6 different staff members and they were all great. Our waiter especially was exceptional. Can't wait to go back!
I like Water Grill, we just had a mediocre experience. We went for the Dine LA Menu, which was a good value for $59. However, we ran late because their valet couldn't take our car and we had to self-park. Then, after a 10 minute wait during which there was no room at the bar and no one offering to get us a drink, they took us to our table, which was still dirty. They offered to comp us our drinks to make up for it, so we ordered wine and a whiskey, neat. Our drinks didn't arrive until the entree did, so AFTER an appetizer (which I had paired with my non-existent wine) and salad courses. The sea bass was tender but relatively bland, the espresso chocolate cake a tad too rich, the loud foursome next to us about 6 inches too close. And our waitress disappeared for a good 30 minutes. Overall, just not a great experience.
We got the Dine L.A. special on a Friday night. I would give the place another try, because the food was pretty good (well the sea bass), but majority of our meal came out barely warm. Service was a bit slow.
From the moment we walked into the restaurant it was a wonderful experience. Service is impeccable, food delicious and so fresh. It’s always the place to go to in DTLA
The service was excellent and food was delicious. The King Salmon was the best salmon I've had in a long time. I will definitely be going back.
Our waiter was outstanding, attentive, funny and really informative about the food choices and L.A.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about this restaurant, definitely a must every time I visit LA!
We had a very nice meal celebrating our anniversary at the Water Grill! I had the grand raw plate and my wife had the Chilean sea bass. We thoroughly enjoyed both dishes. We plan on going back there anytime we’re in Los Angeles.
