Food was not what we expected didn’t have sides we ordered and had to wait to get more sides everything was such a wait or didn’t have and this was a restaurant of choice for birthday gathering
Horrible experience at water grill last night. Waited for 30 minutes after my reservation time to be seated. 3 Hostesses at front of restaurant were rude and unhelpful. Snapped at me after I asked 25 minutes into waiting when we would be seated. Food was ok. Ur not as good as I have had here in the past, or the Vegas location. Server came to table 3 times. Otherwise nowhere to be found. Bad fried food smell In the place that stuck around on your clothing. So this place is definitely gone downhill since the last time I visited.
Very good food, service was good. Overpriced. Not sure I would go again
I do enjoy using open tape except every time we use you they sit in the worst possible place. How can we overcome this obstacle I’m tired of sitting By the kitchen door in the middle of the dining room when nobody else is sitting around etc. etc.
This was our first time trying the place. Went to celebrate our anniversary and had checked out the menu beforehand. Oysters are what sold us! The ambiance is very cute, it's slightly below ground, has nice lighting, seating was comfortable, staff was very friendly, and the food was amazing. We had the oyster sampler, halibut collar entree, sea bass entree, mac and cheese, caesar salad, and their complimentary bread (SO good). I cannot wait to go back and try more items. Ps. I recommend the margarita verde!
The shrimp cocktail was very good as were scallops. The key lime pie was great.
The cooked food was very flavorful but salty for our taste. Service was excellent and wonderful value for the price.
There’s really not much to be said when you’re enjoying some of the best Los Angeles has to offer. The watergrill is World Class. I am hard-pressed to think of a better seafood meal I have experienced and five continents. In a nutshell “YUM!”
This is a great place to go to impress and get an amazing eat! Easy to get to. Comfortable atmosphere.
Great meal. Great cocktails and bread. Will be back
Food was delicious, restaurant was beautiful. We had no complaints. Thanks for taking care of us.
One of my friends favorite restaurants in DTLA so decided to try it after the LAOpera. Enjoyed the Dine LA offering for $75...which included a shrimp cocktail appetizer, Black Cod for my main course and an amazing Key Lime Pie for dessert. The restaurant is very noisy so if you are hoping to have a quiet chat with your companion, it could be a bit of a struggle!
While the food was good, the service was unrefined and lacking. No bread service, had to ask. Dishes were not cleared between courses and were left on the table. Had to eat main course with dirty appetizer dishes left behind. Server forgot we were celebrating my husband's birthday and came running to place the candle after dessert was served, ruining the surprise. Since it was my first time, I wasn't sure if that was the standard of service for them (more on par with a casual diner) so I didn't say anything. Maybe this is normal? My tab was nearly $300 so I was expecting a lot more. I was really disappointed. If you don't care about service, you'll be fine. However, if you're expecting fine dining service, this is not the place. At this price point, I think it should be but it's not so buyer beware.
Fixed menu wasn’t worthy
Opening concert at Disney after Covid shutdown we decided to celebrate with a fine dinner beforehand. We weren’t disappointed! Fresh fish is always good here and the ambience and service was a perfect beginning to a lovely evening
Trojan roll, oysters, calamari, blue fin tuna excellent! Waiter fun and attentive. Great experience overall - definitely will go back!
Two thumbs up to Tyler our server. We ordered the Chilean Sea bass and King Salmon He had asked us if it was okay to have the salmon medium rare. Of course! When it arrived it was definitely not medium rare, more like well done. We informed Tyler about this and without hesitation sent it back to be redone While we were waiting the manager came and apologized. The second round and the Salmon was perfect. Thank you Tyler
Water Grill is one of our favorite DTLA spots! The seafood is so fresh and delicious. Chris makes the dining experience the best that it can be. He’s a major reason why we return again and again.
We had an AMAZING server named Luis who was able to tell us more info on the dine LA options, wines and great service overall.
Definitely went above and beyond to make our anniversary amazing.
My group of five had an enjoyable business dinner. Service was great. Food was outstanding. Our group enjoyed sea bass, halibut, sushi, and steak and all tasted great. Chocolate banana sundae was a great dessert.
Too loud!!! A constant 80 db! Same loudness as a garbage disposal!
Six of us dined at Water Grill last night to celebrate our son's birthday. What a disappointment! Water Grill has always been one of our favorite 2-3 restaurants in LA. Sadly this time the great service and food that we have experienced before were lacking in so many ways. The good news: they honored our reservation and seated us within minutes of arriving despite being busy. It was downhill after that. All evening the service was slow and very sub-par -- 15-20 minutes before our server arrived to take drink orders, another 20-30 minutes before said drinks arrived. We were given bread after 30 minutes -- never got a refill. Wait staff was generally inattentive -- perhaps they are understaffed. We shared 3 apps -- poke and cod tacos were very good, sushi average. Then the main course debacle. Wife I asked server to filet and de-bone it as any good fish restaurant can do. Server said it could not be done -- we were expected to debone ourselves!? We refused and the server (to her credit) took the blame and whisked it away, to be replaced 15 minutes later by a cooked and fileted fish this time. I still chewed on multiple bones. The bony fish cost $80 -- seriously? Desserts were fine. With 1 round of drinks and 1 bottle of wine dinner cost over $100 per person (after tip). When prices are in nosebleed territory, as at Water Grill, you expect near perfection (as we have received in the past). Entire dinner took 3 hours, cost $650 and my main memory is crunching on bony fish.
The food was a joy to eat. Unexpected pleasure sharing a dessert. Caramel-sea salt ice crean nothing short of divine.
I called ahead of time to let them know that we were running late, we arrived 15 minutes late, the parking was a long line and when we finally got to the restaurant they were NOT wearing masks and gave us the speech about we're rotating the tables the best we can, sorry for the inconvenience. It was a DISASTER, The Water Grill it is NOT what it used to be, the dress code was horrible with some people, baseball hats and all, we were waiting at least 20 people cluster in a a small space during pandemic times. It was a HORRIBLE experience and we will NEVER go back. We left and went to Redbird instead where we had a wonderful dinner. The Water Grill is like The Cheesecake Factory, there's nothing wrong with that except that it's not the classy place it used to be. TOO BAD!!!
Very noisy! had to talk loudly so my friend could near me across the table!
Great food. Extremely loud. Only con was the valet service, they were a bit all over the place.
Went there for the Chilean sea bass. It was supposed to be for Dine LA and they changed the menu for the sea bass. Wasn’t happy about that. The new menu wasn’t the same. Fish was bland.
Lovvvve their whole fish selections!!!
We ate here to enjoy the Dine LA prix fix for dinner plus wine pairing: it was just perfect because it’s also my birthday and the brought out a nice desert! Service was great & professional. It’s my 2nd time here and I really enjoyed being here during post pandemic
Great food and service period! Highly recommended!
Dine LA w/ wine pairing. Oysters and white Pinot was excellent. Black Cod and buttery Chard was great. Key lime pie and champagne was a nice finish to the meal.
Great service I’m from California la food taste even better
Delicious food and impeccable service! The Water Grill is the ideal restaurant for dining in DTLA.
The menu was ok but nothing was great and they were sold out of the Halibut.
wait-staff is incredibly knowledgeable about
menu offerings. trust their guidance.
Great food, TVs out of service couldn’t watch the Dodgers’s
We always love coming here, we were celebrating an anniversary and our server brought us an awesome dessert! We’ll always come back!
WaterGrill was simply delicious. Fresh and flavorful from appetizer to dessert. Chorizo clams, sea urchin and bread pudding are to die for. We will be recommending this place and coming back for more in the near future. Hats off the the chef and serving staff.
Amazing experience all around here! Would definitely come back.
