Washington Platform Saloon & Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We had a party of 7 for my birthday. Crab Carnival was going on and almost everyone had some sort of crab. I had the crab stuffed salmon, which was amazing. The sauce, so good! Appetizers and desserts were fantastic as well. We will definitely be back, soon! Thank you for a wonderful evening.
We went for The Crab Festival and loved it. To bring in so may crab types and choices is a real treat for Cincy. We arrived just before a tour group arrived and while there was a little chaos while 50-60 people got seated, once they were attended to our server did a great job. And, the kitchen was outstanding turning orders into plates in record time.
Have been to the restaurant before and the food was much better. The service was great. Our waiter was not friendly at all and disappeared for long periods. Didn't get silverware and had to go back to kitchen to find someone to get it. Steak was served rare when ordered medium rare. Likely will not try again as there are many restaurants in the area that have not disappointed us.
Meal was mostly great but one of the three pieces of the main it inedible (as if it was not cooked). Waitress took that part away but never discussed or brought replacement! Not well managed! Will give it another try because the dish otherwise was really tasty.
Went on a very busy evening during “Blink” and they were VERY crowded. We were there during Crab Festival...Service was good but the food was slow to come out, once it arrived it was delicious. Our table had two different soups the crab bisque and the crab & corn both were flavorful and laden with crab. The entray we had the crab maggiano a hearty penne dish packed with flavor and crab. The other entray was the fried crab dinner crisp and flavorful. I would definitely return.
I was in Cincinnati for a convention and I read about the Washington Platform Saloon and Restaurant so I decided to try it. It is an old style rustic Restaurant and Saloon. The staff is down to earth people with great knowledge of their menu. The food was very good and plentiful and i would recommend to try it.
A year passed since our last dinner at Washington Platform, mainly because of disappointing food on that evening. Previously we ate there for lunch and dinner several times a year. Absolutely no complaints among our party of four this time with everyone having a different entree. I'm a salmon snob; I enjoyed one of the best prepared and well-sized salmon from any restaurant. Portions were ample and well plated on dinnerware that cradled the food. The trim on the plates well framed the entree and a side.
We always enjoy the jazz combos. But, the amplified volume is always far TOO LOUD. We sat well away from the band, and struggled to carry on conversations. Two in our party have hearing aids; they turned them off. Were it not for the excessive loudness, I'd rate the ambience "Outstanding" for its use of period photos and architectural features. Please WP, have your bands adjust their volume for the environment. They aren't having to fill Music Hall with their sound.
Our server is among the best that we have experienced in Cincinnati restaurants. We hope that WP can keep her. With her menu knowledge, attentiveness, and engaging personality, she is an asset.
We'll return for sure and soon. But, if the ensembles insist on amplifying the music to the level that promotes deafness, we'll choose other venues for dinner.
First time visit at Washington Platform and glad I did! Ladies dinner night- restaurant week and pre-selected menu gave nice selections. Food was good, ambience made you feel like you were in New Orleans, and loved the jazz music! One thing I didn't like was our waitress not correctly addressing a guest not being satisfied with her entree... I would go again for the music and to see what the main menu has to offer.
This restaurant is a Cincinnati treasure. For a downtown restaurant, it's off the beaten path, but well worth a special trip. The oysters are fantastic, as are the gumbo and the corn and crab chowder. The beer was good, and the waitress was attentive and real (none of that fawning stuff). It's the kind of place that says, "yeah, Cincinnati is cool."
This was our second trip to Washington platform. As the 1st trip, the food was phenomenal. Our waitress was fabulous. Even though it was her first night working lobsterpoolosa she was an exceptional waitress. We will be back for wing fling. Hope to get her again. I've never been disappointed with the cuisine from the salad to the soup to the main dishes. The front door staff very helpful and pleasant and directed us where to park. Definitely worth the hour awasnd a half drive from North of Dayton. We've recommended this restaurant to friends who were also very pleased. Keep up the creativity and exceptional service!
