Washington Platform Saloon & Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Ambiance lent itself to easy conversation. I made a bad food choice, but the others in the group enjoyed theirs. The salmon was WAY undercooked, and had to be sent back. Server was very friendly, but not efficient. They were out of the dessert we wanted to share, but they offered us one on the house. Wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but might stop by if I were in the neighborhood.
Washington Platform has delicious food and specializes in seafood, although there are other options. Business casual with emphasis on casual, and live music if you arrive in the evening. Service is not quick, but this is a good way to spend the evening and enjoy your meal with friends.
Washington Platform is such a gem in the downtown dining options. The crab cakes are made with real crab and are seasoned perfectly. The fried oysters are wonderful. For a main course, you can't go wrong with anything there, but the Blue with Bleu is a great pasta dish with just the right amount of tang.
Fantastic beer and wine selection. I had a specialty drink, cheap date, which was creative, unique, and tasty!
The best part was the friendly staff. From the greeter at the door, to the server and bartender, everyone was committed to make sure each guest would have a great time.
The atmosphere is very inviting and the service was outstanding. The live jazz was phenomenal! The beer and wine selections were quite good. The menu itself is extensive and eclectic, and the crab/avocado appetizer was terrific. For dinner, we tried the Oyster Po' Boy (fairly good) and the Penne Pasta with Chicken and Vegetables (fairly bland).
My food was excellent. I ordered the shrimp and andouille grits and it was better than I had even anticipated. I fully enjoyed it. I had a cup of gumbo and it was just ok. Too much corn and no meat. I enjoyed my meal and so did my husband but it was very noisy. This is a common complaint I have about restaurants - the noise level. The echoing noise level. If something could be down to dampen the sound it would improve the ambiance.
We went here on New Year's Eve for dinner and music. Booked a reservation on Open Table and was promptly seated. The music was very enjoyable, and the service was good in spite of the fact that our waitress Tara had many (too many) tables to handle. The food, however, was below par and over-priced. The $13 shrimp cocktail consisted of rubbery shrimp that either was poor quality or refrozen somewhere along the way. The $19 veg penne pasta did not come out with penne, but rather, bow tie pasta. Unfortunately, this was similar to an experience we had here a couple of years ago. Nice venue, good music but marginal food. Would suggest you go for the music and some drinks, but not the eats.
Surf and Turf was outstanding. Chef did an excellent job, portions are just right. My idea of delicious food is when the last bite taste as good as the first, and this meal delivered. My wife's filet with cheese grits was just as good. We have dined here before usually before a show and we have never had a bad item. Our waitress was very nice and heckled on us frequently enough that is was not too much or too little. We told our friends and we have marked this place as one of our favorites. It's a great go to place.
We were there during their special crab menu celebration. The menu was so extensive with crab selections that it was hard to choose. Our party of four were all very satisfied with our selection. Our booth was located so that we could have a great conversation with out having to shout. I can't wait until we are able to return to try the main menu.
food this time was not good had chilled crab that was frozen in block of ice not chilled menu has only farm raised salmon which I will not eat or my wife, they explained you can only get farm raised in cincinnati, everywhere else I go they have wild salmon?????otherwise captain mike singing was nice,, spicy bimbap crab was okay but not spicy,,,
Liked the band. Drink were good. Bloody Mary didn't have very much kick to it. Tasted like plain tomato juice. Loved the Dixieland 3 piece band. , actually that is what drew us there. Not sure if I would come back, just ok. Waitress was very good. Kathy n tom
Recently driving thru downtown stopped in Washington Platform. Was just driving by and stopped for lunch. We had the wings and they were AWESOME!!! Our server was excellent...so fast forward a week looking for somewhere to go for my boyfriend's birthday and he suggested Washington Platform because we had such a great time the week prior. Our server was Hannah and she was a delight! Our dinner was delicious! We will definitely be back!
