Haven't been there in several years and we will be putting the Washington Inn back into the rotation. Great dinner, Great time!
The best in Cape May......
Great meal. Wonderful service. Delicious gluten free dessert. Gabriella and Trey took great care of us.
Beautiful and romantic - not for kids. Wait staff was fantastic. Salmon was very rich, root vegetables were yummy, but not extraordinary . Seafood dish was tasty, but there could’ve been more pieces.
Great place to dine if you are not Hispanic. The waiter was not friendly at all. He greeted everyone with a smile and a hello, except for us. He explained the menu to everyone around us but not to us. His behavior spoke for itself. He was not happy to serve the non white couple. I took it up a level and gave him a 25% tip for his service. People like him will never change. Too bad they decided to hire someone with that antiquated attitude. The restaurant is very nice and the food was good.
Service was excellent as was the food. Wonderful meal!
Our favorite place, it’s like eating with family. Thank you!
Outstanding service and excellent food as always !
The food was great. Our waiter was adequate. It would have been nice if he knew more about the food. He was not as efficient as we are used to. We missed Cal.
Dinner, service and ambience all outstanding. Perfect restaurant for any occasion or just to treat yourself. Can’t wait to go back!
Had an amazing dinner! The service and food were great!
Excellent experience and will be back !!
Outstanding fine dining experience! Incredible food, incredible service, great wine choices and a well stocked bar. A nice place to arrive early and enjoy a drink at the cozy bar before your dinner. The entire menu looks outstanding, but I highly recommend the she crab bisque and the excellent filet mignon.
We have been going to the Washington inn for 25 years n it never disappoints. Customer service is the best. Bar none. I asked my table b changed to the patio n no problem. Miles our server was a superstar who tended to ur every need in the most professional yet friendly way. Trey, Miles backup, followed up with everything n they were the perfect team. Food was outstanding n cooked to perfection.
Valentines Day is a day you should never go to or rate a restaurant but we decided to go to the Washington Inn, normally go to the Peter Shields. Ambiance was lovely, the team that waited on us were excellent. Had the Halibut Special which was very nice, I had the octepus appetizer which was ice cold including the sauce. I couldn't eat it. We shared the white chocolate strawberry short cake, I would go back just for that. A nice evening
Delicious Food and drinks. Warm and cozy! I would love to go back and shoot in the bar area another time.
Expected more from a $350 meal. Apps were ok, we had the grilled shrimp (nothing special) and the octopus (good), entrees were phenomenal. I had the branzino and my husband had the filet. Both were cooked perfectly. Dessert was amazing as well; we had the chocolate mousse. However, service was lacking. Our server forgot to give our table bread. Water glasses were always empty. We had to pour our own champagne. Other tables were offered menu additions and we were not. We had a great seat tucked in a corner by the fireplace which was very nice. Not impressed by our first visit but not disappointed enough to never go back. We are locals and will give it another shot sometime.
I can't find anything wrong with our experience at the Washington Inn. Food, service and atmosphere were top notch. It was our first time in a while and definitely they up their game. We will go back
Fish was over cooked and the lentils in the plate’s vegetable bed were nearly raw.
A wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion. Valentine's dinner was great. The food is always exceptional. The service is very attentive. We love Sonata, our server. Looking forward to our next celebration.
Our server Brian was helpful and attentive. We weren't sure why everyone in the restaurant had a bread plate and knife but no bread, but he brought it out for us at our request. The huge tomahawk pork chop was crispy outside but still juicy inside (i.e. perfect). The celery root was a potato-like side with a tasty lumpy-buttery texture. My wife felt the halibut special was over cooked but still edible. We are and will remain long time customers due to the interesting menu revisions and the reliably pleasant informal feel of home.
My husband and I went to the Washington Inn for dinner on Valentine’s Day. Our table was ready for us, the waitress was excellent and the food was delicious. We plan to make reservations for Valentine’s Day from now on. Thank you for a lovely evening!!
I have eaten at the Washington Inn many times over several decades and have always been pleased, but my recent experience on Valentine's Day was even better than usual. The food was uniformly excellent and the wine was superb as always. The wine list is by far the best in south Jersey with a wide range of prices and the presence of interesting and unusual bottles from both Europe and California. On this occasion the pace was leisurely and comfortable, though in the summer the restaurant is jammed every night and you can sometimes feel rushed. Best restaurant for fine dining in Cape May.
It was Valentine’s Day and our Anniversary. I can’t say enough about the fantastic service and staff. I was just a little disappointed with my filet. The steak was very hard to cut, but tasted great. I thought it might have been me, but my husband also had a hard time cutting it. For the price, I should’ve been able to cut it with a butter knife. It was a very tasty steak. The desert was great. My husband enjoyed the short ribs.
We made our reservation online through Open Table, received a confirmation... including the day of the reservation... so imagine our disappointment and frustration when we arrived at the restaurant only to find it closed! It sure would have been nice to know that ahead of time. I don’t understand why Washington Inn didn’t adjust their schedule in Open Table. The only saving grace was that we were still awarded 100 points!
The Washington Inn is at the top of the list of the multiple wonderful restaurants in Cape May. The same chef has transitioned from outstanding "old school" food to outstanding more modern and interesting food. We were there for New Year's Eve, and despite the crowd, everything was done to perfection. Our server, Christina, was particularly cheerful and helpful - although she had to work on New Year's Eve! Our main courses were Halibut and Lamb Chops, but in our past experience, everything is excellent. The restaurant is consistent, and consistently excellent. You can't miss going to the Washington Inn, even on New Year's Eve!
New Year’s Eve.
Went there for a special New Year's Eve dinner and we had a wonderful dinner. The atmosphere and service were outstanding. A gem in Cape May!
Our New Years dinner was outstanding! We will try to do this as often as possible. Our waiter was funny and did his job perfectly. Wish I remembered his name! We sat in the room off to the right and down a few steps... like a a terrace. Highly recommend for any reason!
Not up to the usual great standards.
Third time in three years we have had New Year's Eve dinner at the Washington Inn and this year it was really exceptional. The four-course Prix Fixe dinner had excellent choices that were cooked to perfection. My lobster tail was creamy and well-seasoned and the accompanying shrimp and lobster risotto was a great complement. My husband's filet mignon was large and tasty. The chocolate mousse cake for dessert was so chocolaty and rich that we had to save some to enjoy the next day. The noise level on the mid-time setting was moderate so I could actually hear my husband without much trouble. Our server was very friendly, didn't rush us, and even helped balance our wobbly table. Great experience. That is why we keep coming back.
The service was impeccable, the Halibut was cooked to perfection. The five course selection we made was delicious. My complaint was that the room temperature was a little cold and it was a on the pricey side. Maybe the cost include a complimentary wine it would have been perfect.
Good meal good service
New Years Eve and a fixed menu I did not expect much but for the price the lobster tail should have been cooked and not slimy.....The rest of the food was good. I have been there before and food is usually excellent, but a big night it did slip a bit.
