We have dined at the Washington Inn for 25+ years. This restaurant is a consistently excellent dining experience. The menu continuallychanges with interesting items, the quality is always there and the food is above average and creative. A Cape May landmark. Wonderful
The Washington Inn is just one of the most consistent Cape May restaurants and I can say that we have never been disappointed by the food or the service.
First time to visit cape May and eat at Washington Inn. Excellent experience all the way around.
We love Washington!
Food was delicious. Ordered the chiopino which said it was in a spicy tomato broth which was delicious, but had no heat (spice) in the broth. Service was excellent and so glad to see the restaurant having tables being seated multiple times during the evening. Haven’t been there in 20 years and it remains a favorite in Cape May.
Dinner was absolutely marvelous!!
The service was impeccable! Can't wait to come back!
The absolute best in Cape May! Bartenders Robin and Charles really know the business and are experts at their profession. The servers are experienced efficient and friendly. Our server was Godfrey. The ambiance is unsurpassed. This restaurant has been consistently exceptional for over the 30+ years we have been dining there. For large parties the have a beautiful wine cellar which our family has used several times. They have the largest selection of wines in Cape May. If you dine here once, guaranteed you will return!
Birthday Dinner
Great dinner. Food was terriffic. Service was great. Very classy place but not stuffy at all. we hope to go back soon.
Always a great meal, service is attentive and cordial. We’ve had the same server in a few occasions. She always remembers us, is quick with a smile, and is helpful and efficient. We always look forward to coming here.
Our dinners were all absolutely delicious. Our servers were very attentive
All aces from the moment we walked in. The bartender was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the wonderful wine list. Quite beautiful too.
Dinner was outstanding. Crab cake appetizer was perfect. Beet salad with goat cheese delectable, and the flatiron steak was cooked to perfection.
The fromage blanc desert, suggested by the bartender, was a winner - creamy, delicious, light, fluffy, and flavorful.
Can’t wait til next time.
This was our third time and we had a great meal. The food was terrific and our server was great. Only issue we have had with The Washington Inn is they have never been able to seat us at our Open Table reservation times. On average, we have waited 20-30 minutes. They have a bar to wait but in this case, we had our hungry children. This is the the only drawback.
Just love the Washington Inn....the food (extraordinarily good) and the wait staff! We'll be back
Delicious oysters, beet salad, crab cake appetizer and rack of lamb. Nice presentation and great quality.
We enjoy going to Cape May every Easter. So many good restaurants to choose from.
We have been to the Washington Inn for dinner and really enjoyed it. We are often hesitant to go out for brunch on a holiday, but the Washington Inn did Easter Brunch just right. It was not overcrowded or overbooked, the service was excellent and no long lines for the delicious food. It was not an extravagant buffet done in excess, but just a very nice mix of breakfast and lunch/dinner items along with a wonderful assortment of desserts. There wasn’t a thing we didn’t like. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.
Nice place with very attentive service. We attended Easter brunch. I didn’t realize it was a buffet. I would have preferred to order from the menu or be advised in advance it was buffet. Food was status quo. Nothing amazing but what we did have was good. The beach plum mimosa was very good. Not too sweet which is a nice change. Overall was satisfied but not wowed.
Easter brunch. Great variety an awesome service
We frequent this place many times throughout the year. We had Easter brunch on Sunday. We made the reservation three weeks in advance, but were given a table in a traffic lane looking at the water and coffee station and a former exterior wall. A little diappointing but know other tbkes were ooen. Brunch was very good but very surprised by the overpriced Mimosas. $12.09 each. We expect to pay that price in a high end place in NYC, but notmCqpe May. Next time, we will stickmwith the $3.50 coffee.
Very nice ambiance. Dollar oysters at the bar for happy hour. Came back for dinner. Started with the grilled Spanish octopus special, an award winner. We then ordered the flank steak and the bronzino, both from the regular menu. Both were fabulous. The steak was tender with a chimchurri sauce on the side. The bronzino was lightly pan fried accompanied by braised fennel and just terrific. Extensive wine list. Our server was ivana who was so sweet and accommodating. The Washington inn will always be a destination for us when in cape may.
Outstanding as always! The ability to “loiter” and enjoy every stage of the meal with good libations is always a treat at the Washington Inn the wait staff never rush you and the Inn never makes you feel like they want to get you out the door and fill your seats again.
Fabulous from start to finish! We arrived on time and our table was ready. Valet parking a plus! Service was excellent and the food was superb! Oyster sampling was fresh and delicious and the hanger steak was tender and delicious! Highly recommend as one of the best treasures in Cape May!
Consistently THE best dining experience in Cape May. The 2lb Lobster tail is worth the price -
the best I've ever had. Margo, our waiter, was fantastic. There are not enough superlatives to describe this restaurant!
This place is awesome. I would highly recommend it to anyone and the food was impeccable!!!
Outstanding
The food was outstanding and the service was exceptional.
This was the second time me and my wife have eaten here for her birthday and the service was great and the food was delicious like always .
We will be coming back again next year to celebrate her birthday.
Always the best filet in town! Perfect date night
Beware the corner table. Lots of interruptions by busing staff. We asked to move to another table and were then very comfortable.
My husband and I were sat at table 69 which was a round table which seats four people. The table was awkward and not suitable for a couple. Food was very good, but it came out within minutes of ordering . Total meal was within an hour. Would of enjoyed the dinner more if we didn’t feel rushed.
...and the wine 👌🏼...food, staff...excellent...we love it here..
Our waiter Jim S. was excellent!!! He was friendly very helpful and gave us excellent service!!!
We have been going to the Washington Inn for years now and have never been disappointed. A year or two ago they updated the decor in their main dining room and, to be honest, we preferred the warmer atmosphere of the original room. This year we were seated in the enclosed porch off the bar and loved it - cozy and more of what you would expect in a lovely older home. The wine list is excellent. The menu, while not extensive, is varied and there are several specials, so everyone should find something to please them. Service has always been excellent. We like to get there before our reservation time to spend some time at the bar. It's pricey, but we feel it's worth it.
Just great food with a fantastic wine list and in a historic location
Never disappoints!! Our favorite place in Cape May, NJ.
First time there and definitely going back. Food was amazing, service was top notch. James was a great server. Pretty place that is not over the top.
Valentine’s Day
Very nice dinner for Valentine's Day! I thought $30 wine corkage fee was way over the top.
It was an evening well spent. Best Valentines date ever. Great food from start to finish, great service from
the moment we arrived, our waiter was super, and of course I had a great date.. whatelse can I ask for?
