Service and food not as special as previous years
Missed the duck main course and did not get bread until I asked half way through meal
Still good but not great
Birthday very good dinner to celebrate.
Fantastic food, great atmosphere. Best restaurant in Cape May
Very very good quality food at a higher price than most places down there. This is a nicer dining experience so as long as you go in knowing that - you are good to go. Awesome service food and ambiance.
Everything was very good except we were a party of 4 and we were seated at a very small table
My husband and I made reservations here to celebrate our anniversary. We were pretty disappointed. The oysters were perfectly shucked, but that's as far as it goes. Our food was subpar for what we paid. Sand in my scallops, corn in the crab cakes and a hair on my husband's plate made for a sad dinner. The creme brulee was disappointing. And there was a very obnoxious individual two tables over.
The service was amazing, the cocktails were delicious, and the food was incredible.
Food was delicious. Restaurant has the feel of an inn. Service was attentive. Thoroughly enjoyable meal-we has halibut and salmon-both fish were cooked perfectly.
Amazing, amazing, amazing!!! Our new favorite restaurant in Cape May! Not only was the food great but the service was as well!!!
Outstanding meal and James our server always makes it a special night! The Best restaurant in Cape May!
Lovely, delicious, and very special!!!
Great service ang food
A bit noisy but aside from that FANTASTIC ! Sean who took care of us was also FANTASTIC!
One of the best dinner experiences i've had in a long time. Thank You
We are local and bring guest to the Washington Inn quite often. This past week we had guest in from the UK and thought they would love the ambience, food and overall history of the Washington Inn. Waiter was nice but did not give us prices of the Lobster Tail that was on special but we didn’t ask either so shame on us! Two of us ordered the lobster tails and when we got our bill they were $95 each! That is insane for lobster tail. It was delicious but I would never ever order any food that cost $95! Like I said shame on us for not asking and in all honesty the waiter should of told us the prices for the specials. My next problem was that our guest both ordered the oysters for appetizers. When the assistant waiter came to pick up there trays she dumped the tray of ice water and oyster juice all over my husband. Needless to say he was not happy and no one there really seemed to care they said it’s just ice water! It’s not just ice water when you have to pick oyster shells off your lap.
So all in all food was ok but over priced, my chocolate martini was excellent, guest enjoyed there wine but in all honesty don’t think we will be returning.
It was a delightful evening all around. Our wait staff was excellent, food delicious and ambiance enjoyable. Would go again in a minute.
Nice place but pricey. However, food is excellent. Service was good, too.
While the dining room is elegant and quiet, we had the misfortune to have the adjacent table become occupied by a quartet who had been trained in the art of conversation by John Madden. The staff was wonderful and moved us immediately to a quiet table. Many thanks to Gabrielle.
One of our favorites though slow getting meal out
Something wrong w music...loud
$1 oysters during happy hour & great food, drinks & service.
Most amazing restaurant.... service... food.... service.... ambiance. Perfect
Always excellent . Best in Cape May !
We have been dinning on our anniversary for twenty years now .As always are experience was excellent. You can always count on a great meal dinning at the Washington Inn .
Favorite restaurant in Cape May County hands down. Would recommend to anyone. Great service and great food. Staff is always excellent!
Beautiful location and food was outstanding! Loved it!
Food and service were amazing! One of our new favorite restaurants in Cape May!
Top notch as always !
We have been coming since the year they opened. It has always been a great experience.
This was to be a birthday dinner! Since I picked the restaurant I was very embarrassed.
One person in the party ordered halibut and it was not presented as stated. It was to be on top of Kiowa and pistachios on top. However, it arrived on top of either mashed potatoes or some kind of blended vegetables and no pistachios on top.
The rest of us ordered the tuna. The tuna was extremely salty and tasted like a pot roast and not tuna. Very disappointed.
Then we chose to bring along our own wine and were informed we would be charged $30 per bottle, which was ok with us since the wines were very special wines from our wine cellar(plus, I had read on the website about the corkage fee). This restaurant has a nice wine bar and does have wine glasses that are appropriate for each different type of wine. We were given generic wine glasses and the same for both our white and red wine. We then noticed other dinners had the correct type of wine glasses for their wine . When we asked our waiter about the difference in wine glasses. He stated the better wine glasses are for better wines and they don’t have many glasses!!
Let me tell you, the wine we chose to bring was a better wine and not blue nun...(we were celebrating a 65th bday)
I believe if an establishment has a wine bar and claims to be a fine dinning restaurant they need to treat each customer with respect and be consistent with the treatment and service of each dinner. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed with our dinning experience.
Cozy place, very good service. The wine, a Sancerre was very good and perfectly matching the fish courses we chose: oysters, lobster tail, a softly grilled branzino and cioppino. We shared a formage Blanc as dessert: delicate and fruity. I recommend this restaurant!
From the minute you enter until you leave the Washington Inn is perfection! The old house that the restaurant is in is charming. The atmosphere is sophisticated yet relaxing and filled with happy customers as well as staff. I just love everything about it. My husband said his steak was the best ever (and he orders steak a lot), and my halibut was the best I’ve ever had (and I’m a big fish eater). You see couples as well as big families. It is on the high end as far as cost goes but not terribly expensive and well worth it. Treat yourself to this lovely restaurant!
It was great as usual and the service is superb!
One of the best dining experiences ever! Chilled lobster appetizer with avocado, tropical salsa, lime aioli- perfect on a warm summer night. Seafood cioppino- flavorful, scallop, shrimp & clams done to perfection. Filet- best ever! Our server Anna- can’t say enough! Extensive knowledge of the menu, attentive, engaging. Clearly loves her job.
Amazing food! Amazing service! The free valet was a great perk. My husband and I both have food allergies and our server took them very seriously, told us how they use separate utensils and plates, and noted them on our account for future visits.
Been going to the Washington Inn for years. Food and service are always top notch.
When you refer to your restaurant as upscale, the permitted dress should not be flip flops, shorts and T-shirts. Then you are like every other bar/restaurant at the shore.
My husband and I started with drinks, oysters, and the crab cake in the bar area. We then sat in the dining room for dinner. All of the service was impeccable and the food was delicious. We have calamari, salads, burrata with peaches, halibut and short rib. We will definitely go back!!
The Washington Inn is one of the best restaurants around. It is such a pleasure to dine there. All staff that we encountered was pleasant and nice. The restaurant is clean. The food is great. They were crowded but we were never rushed.
Great salmon and halibut specials. Please keep them coming !!
