Barolo, often called "the king of wines and the wine of kings", is a high-quality, long-lived Italian red wine made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes in the Piedmont region, known for its complex flavors and long-aging potential. After nearly 20 years spent sorting, clarifying, and standardizing within a multitude of interests, a Cru-like classification system in Barolo DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) was created in 2010. Time needed to implement and make the wines means these long-aging wines are starting to reach their peaks now, so let's sip a few together and talk about their merits. This experience is guided by our in-house Sommeliers, Tyler and April, and thoughtfully paired with a canapé crafted by Executive Chef Vincent Celeste.

My wife and I celebrated our 15 year wedding anniversary enjoying an amazing meal with even better service at the Washington Inn. Our waitress Shayna really made the experience awesome and had so much knowledge on the menu and every recommendation hit. We will definitely be back.

The Washington Inn is a historic building in Cape May that was actually moved to its current location by a team of horses a century ago. We learned this bit of history from our sommelier/ host who also helped us navigate the computerized wine list that catalogs this retaurant's amazing wine collection. We began with Oysters Rockeller, Hamachi Crudo (like sashimi)and a summer salad. These all paired beautifully with a single-vineyard Do Ferreiro Albariño. We them proceeded to a rack of lamb, gnocchi with mushroom ragout, scallops, and cioppino. All dishes were prepared beautifully and paired nicely with a Dauvissat Chablis. Tyler, the aforementioned sommelier recommended a silky California Cabernet Franc available by the glass to sip with the rack of lamb. Our group of four shared the Bananas Foster and a creme brûlée for dessert... and nothing was left on either plate. In a town where most restaurants are BYOB, Washington Inn reminds one of the advantages of a vast wine list. The food matched the wines in variety and quality. We shall return.

We had such an amazing experience overall at the Washington Inn. The food is spectacular, the service is incredible and the atmosphere is wonderful. We always are seated at a beautiful table whenever we visit and it is so appreciated as we don't get to venture down this way often. Thank you for a fantastic evening!

Always leave happy and satisfied! Delicious dinner, great server and service, pleasant ambiance. Plenty of gluten free options on the menu. Seafood bisque and crab cakes for me; Cape May oysters, and a pesto risotto with crab meat for my spouse. Cheese fromage with passion fruit sauce for dessert! All superb!!

Our party was long time Cape May residents and have dined at the Washington Inn many times. Our last visit was exceptional. The amuse -bouche was a nice surprise and very good. We enjoyed Escargot and Seafood bisque,as well as the seafood special, Cioppino, and Short rib. The wait staff is always polite and professional and the sommelier was helpful. We weren't celebrating anything that evening, but the restaurant made the evening with giid friends special.
