Washington House Restaurant
We’ve enjoyed dinner at Washington House on a few occasions. We were really pleased to find a purely plant-based dish on the menu this time. Delish! Enjoyed the outdoor sidewalk seating on a gorgeous NJ spring evening.
The food was very good.
Beautiful Sunday brunch with the family. Great service.
When I booked the reservation and then reconfirmed it the day of they never told me this huge festival was going on in their backyard. Service was slow and confusing. Took forever just to get our first drinks. The wait staff kept on saying it’s just crazy tonight it’s just crazy tonight. Really bad first impression of the restaurant. It would’ve meant a lot if they would’ve explain what was going on since I never been there before the night of and we could’ve gone somewhere else.
Never fails to deliver a truly exceptional experience, outstanding quality food along with a fantastic team all leads to a fantastic customer experience. Highly recommend this place.
It felt like the wait staff forgot about our table. Drinks were not refilled and had to flag down the waitress every single time we needed anything
Food was very good
Excellent Brunch on Mother's Day! Great food, great service and the perfect ambience to celebrate Mother's Day or any occasion.
Must have been sitting in the same area as another reviewer. Food was very good. Service was missing. the wait between appetizers and entree was uncomfortable, people around us had that same look around the room-just looking to see if anyone was getting served. Took 15 minutes to clear our dinner plates, as no one was around the dining room to watch tables. Might go back for the food and try it again.
Excellent menu, food, presentation and atmosphere. The service was great as well, however there was a long gap between our appetizer and entree (probably 45 minutes). Will definitely come back.
Always a great experience
Their ticketing system was down so it was pretty hectic and slow. Third waiter was pro and helpful. Still struggle understanding why NJ restaurants don’t go to no tipping and incorporate that into food pricing. You would have consistent staff given the mess ups. Always crowded in the bar and so loud.
Good food and New England style ambiance.
One suggestion for management: WALK AROUND AND CHECK ON THE GUESTS.
I want to like Washington House more, but have hesitations. The atmosphere is nice and most of the staff are pleasant. If you sit in the middle of the main room it can be very loud. We lucked out this time and got a window table up front so it was not noisy and was very comfortable. Service is usually timely. This time I ordered sliders, they were just okay... not very juicy. The salad I had was good (but very expensive). Disappointed they offered bread and we only got a few tiny pieces in a big basket. The prices are just really really high! For what we got, we were disappointed the bill was so high. We would go more often if the prices came down. And lastly, there are so many staff walking around filling water it gets to be a little much. I appreciate the attention to detail, but it is a little over the top. I'd rather see them doing something more productive. I'd probably refer more people if some of the things I mentioned were improved.
Much improved since our last visit!
But I think it’s table #30 thats up in the front
Has to go. We got it and we’re moved very nicely I may add, but every one else that sat there obviously didn’t like it. It’s awkward sort of in the hall way. Get rid of it
Excellent food and service. We liked the fact that we didn't feel rushed like a lot of restaurants in the area. Enjoyed a nice anniversary dinner.
Food was excellent, so was the service. It was quite busy, so the noise level was quite high.
Excellent menu for lunch. Came with a group of eight. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. I had a poached plum salad. Would love to come back and try for dinner.
Lovely dining room, attentive staff and great food selection
The menu has something for everyone. There are choices if you want to eat a big meal or just chose small plates. There are wonderful cocktails. The rooms are so pretty, fresh and relaxing. Our server was excellent. Wonderful delicious food!
Second time there and sat outside. Great service team and delicious food. Crab cake was disappointing as it wasn't meaty, but everything else was great. Thank you for a nice night.
We were wonderfully surprised with our experience at Washington House. The service was incredible; they even surprised us with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine to celebrate our anniversary. The entrees were delicious (pork chop and lamb). The only thing we didn't like was the brownie for dessert; they clearly don't have a very good pastry chef as the result was very dry even with the ice cream topping. We would definitely return.
Went to lunch for a friends bday. It was her first time there and she loved it. The food was exceptional, the drinks were on point, and the service was good. The only issue was when paying the bill, I paid in cash and the server assumed I left a 45% tip without asking if I needed change back. I still tipped 20% but felt like it was a little sneaky to not ask whether or not change was needed. I had to ask for it back. Otherwise I would come back here again as I have dined here a several times and overall always had a great experience.
Our server was excellent, food delicious- I will return
Very attentive service gorgeous looking dishes that were delicious
This was our third time here. We love the atmosphere and the service is always great.
Our evening was wonderful. The food and drink selection was really good. I would just like to note that the service was marginal. Our server was great the her support team made a couple of mistakes with the meals that were brought to the table. We just assumed it was a new group. We love all about the Washington House and will be back again.
We live in town and frequently go there for dinner. It never disappoints. It has a charming atmosphere, friendly and wonderful servers and most importantly, delicious food!
Great, unique but wholesome foods, big portions, lovely drink choices and great service
Went for $1.00 oysters (Wednesdays only). Delicious. Choice of East or West coast. Superbly cleaned, very fresh. I had sea scallops, wife crabby Martha melt. Both were excellent. Nice wine list. Service just right. Bar area noisy with live entertainment, dinning room quiet.
Amazing as always!! Thank you for always making date night so special. Diego and Jessica are truly the best. See you soon!
I'd like to say our experience was excellent, in great part to Diego being our server. He was friendly, helpful, made great food and wine suggestions and his charming accent is a winner!
Risotto was cold....... Salmon was better. The atmosphere is nice.
Very lively bar scene for St Patrick’s Day. We sat in the back.
Food and service was fantastic. I loved the decor and the ambiance. Would recommend it to everyone
Enjoyed our evening there. Food was good, service was good too. A bit noisy so with 6 it was sometimes hard to hear. Was busy due to St Pats.
Birthday and it was awesome! Food was outstanding and service was superb. Can’t wait to go back.
Excellent service and beautiful presentation of the food. Nice atmosphere - we enjoyed our dinner immensely.
We had dinner with friends here on a snowy Sunday afternoon. The food was excellent - from the oysters, to the entrees, everyone enjoyed their meals. Two of our party had the short ribs and they gained rave reviews. I had a special of veal stuffed cannelloni and it was absolutely delicious. Two had burgers which are always good there. The service was great and we had a wonderful table by a window. Overall a very enjoyable meal!
We have been here several times and always enjoy ourselves. The oysters were outstanding!
