We love Washington House! The food is always incredible. You cannot order wrong. The atmosphere is lovely as well. It is our special occasion first choice!
great atmosphere in a very comfortable tent. Did not have to "bundle up" for the cold with the heated floor. Extensive and varied menu. Delicious dinner!
Very nice restaurant. Great food and service and clean!
The outdoor dining tent is great. Very spacious and decorated very nicely.
If you don't mind eating with your hat and coat on, try the outside dining room. Spacious, not very loud and great ambiance!
An annoyingly long gap between appetizers and main course. But baby kale salad and corn chowder were delicious.
Can only sit outside in a tent and as it was in the 30s and there was only one other table seated we asked for a warm spot. The host said she had just the spot and put us right next to the freezing window. 😒 Our waiter was completely uninterested and inattentive. Most of the time he was nowhere to be found. When we did see him his back was always turned away from us talking to another employee. Water went unfilled and dirty plates from our apps were still on the table when our check finally came. Only positive is that the food was delicious, seems the only people who were interested in being there where the people in the kitchen.
Every precaution was taken during Covid, so one could concentrate on the food and service. All was excellent. Pricey, but worth it.
The tent accomodations were surprisingly good. The food and service were also very good. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was well prepared and appetizing. The day was cold, so the draft of outdoor air detracted from the overall experience. I understand that this issue is being addressed and look forward to dining with you when it is resolved.
The “tent” is quite spacious. The food was tasty.
Service was great..did a nice job with the tent. It’s very comfortable.
Delicious and my mom felt safe.
The tent and overall setup is VERY impressive, but there was enough of a breeze that even seated in the middle, we kept our lightweight jackets on through most of the meal. Food was tasty and service was generally excellent; had to ask for more water a couple of times, but we did finally get it. My friends enjoyed the $1 oyster special, I loved the carrot ginger soup, and we all enjoyed our entrees. We all loved the musician who was playing--obviously very talented and a great mix of songs that we all knew.
Definitely a good spot--just suggest you dress in layers until spring temps return! It's also pretty loud in there; we were fine, but I realized when we left that I had been yelling a bit throughout the night. Nothing we couldn't handle, but if anyone in your party is hearing impaired or sensitive, you should ask to be seated on the furthest end of the tent.
We eat here often and it’s usually good. Last time I had what looked to be delightful shrimp tacos, but they were not good at all. They were skimpy on flavor and missing a few of the ingredients mentioned on the menu.
Tempted to try them again, I stopped myself and ordered the Scottish salmon instead , which was delicious.
Service has always been good to excellent and the noise level was quiet on this November Sunday night. Only about half or less of the outdoor tables were filled.
It was a great experience as always. The tent was spacious and the service was attentive.
Went for a birthday lunch and everything was perfect. The outdoor seating was well thought out and very comfortable on a cool autumn day.
Very nice atmosphere and food, but it’s like sitting outdoors in 40 degrees with the wind blowing.
After an hour, We simply had to leave and so did many others.
We asked several staff if they could close or cover the upper window openings, but they didn’t seem to be able to answer that.
Will not go back until next spring, or if the weathers is above 60, or they close the windows…brrrrr.
Who likes eating in a winter jacket, with cold ears, and running nose, and the food gets cold…the plates felt like they were sitting in a freezer!
We always have a great meal at the Washington House.
Good service which isn’t always easy to find these days. A solid menu with Octoberfest specials. The churros were delicious.
Food, service, ambience was excellent I would highly recommend going there
Love this restaurant! The atmosphere and food is great!
Over good but alittle cold need heaters for evening dining
They have a terrific "indoor" setting and food was very good. For lunch, prices are a little steep, but that seems to be everywhere these days.
Birthday. Staff was very nice but food was very much delayed. Shrimp tacos were over spiced and all food was over salted. Burger came out with bacon and well done when it was ordered as medium rare, no bacon. Asked for regular coffee and de-caff came out. Ambiance is nice but I would not go again.
I made a 6pm reservation to celebrate my in laws 75th birthday. We were seated at 6pm. Our server took our drink order at 6:15pm. We got our drinks. She informed us the kitchen was backed up. She took our food orders. At 7:30pm we were still seated without any food. The restaurant ran out of bread. We then decided it was best for us to pay for our drinks and leave. I spoke to the manager. He said we did not have to pay for the drinks (3 sodas and 2 glasses of wine). We left. Picked up McDonald’s on the way home. It was embarrassing and ruined our planned celebration.
Always a nice meal. I was there on Sunday for lunch and it was pretty chilly in the tent even though I was wearing a sweater. The floor heating system gets overwhelmed by the breeze coming through the windows. Hopefully, the restaurant can improve on the warmth in the tent and get the indoor seating open soon. My burger was great. My wife had the Frikadeller (Danish meatballs special). It has been amazing is the past. This time the sauce was not as tasty. The color of the sauce was much lighter and something was missing with the taste. We mentioned it to our server and were told the kitchen used different mushrooms for the sauce. Maybe but was not as good as in the past. Definitely will go back.
I have been to Washington House 2 times and both experiences were outstanding!! Food is amazing! Friendly greeting and servers were attentive and knowledgeable! Will make it a frequent stop!
Food too a little long to get but otherwise it was a nice dining experience
Wow! Found this online and decided to try it on a whim on our way back north from visiting a winery in Hunterdon County. It was the perfect place. They have done outdoor dining right! Spacious, classy, the food was amazing, and very reasonably priced.
Great place to meet a friend and catch up while leisurely eating a fantastic lunch
Service was very poor. It took an hour for kids to get their dinner and adults meals came later. Service told us there were 2 big parties that took priority.
Washington House is an excellent restaurant.
Always consistent, food is delicious!!
Great lunch in outdoor venue--appreciated the fresh air and ventilation. Delicious black bean burger and apple strudel. Friendly service.
It was very noisy and we waited about an hour and twenty minutes before the food arrived. I had the veal dish which was disappointing. Overall the dining experience was disappointing. We had been there twice before and had had a good experience.
Food was very good. Outdoor seating is fantastic. Service was very slow. Likely short on staff. Definitely will return. A new favorite. Just don’t be in a rush.
My wife and I went for an early dinner and had a wonderful time. The food was delicious. The oysters were fresh. The French onion soup was absolutely outstanding. The German braut dish was unbelievably delicious. Oh wait the apple strudel to finish off things holy mackerel was that great. Would recommend Washington house to anybody who wants to have a great meal. Food was little pricey but understandable in today’s world.
Music was a little too loud and country for my taste. Our waitress was cute but a little less than inviting and attentive. I don’t know that she could hear the order correctly and made an error. Have dined many times and it just seem like this was a little different than usual which is usually excellent.
First time there…Very VERY loud - they haven’t opened up indoor seating yet and it was hard to carry on a conversation - all surfaces are hard in the outside seating. With noise level and wait staff wearing masks - service was perfunctory and down to hand signals bc we couldn’t understand them. Also a bit chilly in the space. Food was VERY good. Don’t skip the breads- crusty and worth it. However, Wine by the glass are from $9 bottles of wine (retail), but with only 2 of us, opted for that. Not great and didn’t finish mine. At $11-12 per glass, they should be able to do a bit better than that. My date had Prosecco and that was ok. Will go back with another couple next time and just pick out a bottle to split. I’ll go back for the food. Wishing they open up indoor dining soon.
Great place - can’t wait to go back.
