Went here for dinner on 6/7/23 with my wife and 4 of our friends. We all had a good time. We were seated inside, at the table in the front window, so we were able to do lots of people watching, which was fun. As for the important things ... the food was excellent. I had the Thalassina (mussels, shrimp and calamari served over orzo in white wine, ouzo and tomato sauce). The portion was ample and the mussels, calamari, orzo, and the sauce were all outstanding. The shrimp, on the other hand, were a bit overcooked to my taste. My wife had the Moussaka (layers of eggplant, zucchini, potato and ground beef topped with light bechamel), which she thoroughly enjoyed. We shared a bottle of the Gavalas Santorini Blue, which was recommended by our server, Tanya. The wine went very well with my Thalassina.
Speaking of Tanya, she was an excellent server. However, she got flustered toward the end of our meal by a photographer who was taking pictures at the bar and kept getting in her way.
The ambiance is definitely a reflection of the Greek heritage of the owners. In fact, the painting on the wall above our table looked exactly like a photograph my wife took when we were in Greece.
It was relatively quiet when we arrived (around 5:30 PM), and the noise level grew the later it got. In fact, it was hard to hear each other at our table by the time we left (around 7:00 PM).
All in all, if you're in the Shirlington area, I would definitely recommend you try this location of Our Mom Eugenia. In fact, I would make a detour to give it a try.
