Washington Avenue Grill from the outside may not look like what you are expecting ... even the inside - however, the view is FANTASTIC - seated by the window looking down to Birch Bay and over our Islands - the food was GREAT ... started with Seafood and Artichoke dip with home made chips - Lobster, Crab and shrimp with a crusted topping ... to die for - Lamb cooked to perfection and pork loin that was enough for two meals - thank goodness for boxes and lunch the next day.
Staff was great, re-seating us at a more appropriate table once they realized that the first table was not suitable, the food and service were excellent. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming with incredible views..
Dining at Washington Avenue Grill is a fun night out. What more could you want than an energetic ambiance, beautiful view, a variety of music and great food. We have been often.
Really enjoyed a quiet brunch on good friday. Amazing view of the beach with all the dogs. Our waiter was friendly and Cute. He was there if we needed anything. We had an entertainment coupon. But it was not pricey. We'd go back for sure
Went on a tuesday and my wife and I both had the three course dinner special. Mixed green salad was good. My wife did not like the blue cheese in the salad. She had the goat cheese stuffed chicken breast with garlic mashed potatoes, said it was very good. I had the seafood hot pot which was mostly broth and rice noodles. The rice noodles caused the broth to drip everywhere including on my shirt. Somthing in the hot pot was a bit off and I ended up sitting on the toilet for several hours later. Cleaned me right out! Deserts were great, she had the teramaso and I had creme breulet.
We celebrated our friend's birthday at the WAG. Their Tuesday three-course special is great value for money. I had the Kahlua curried prawns - very flavourful and cooked just right.
Our guest was most impressed with her WAG dinner as she begins her vacation with us.
We visited the WAG for my wife's birthday and were delighted with the food and service
The food was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The service left us a little "bored". Just nothing special. Was seated in a spot that had no visual of the band and couldn't hear the band at all. But the food will make us come back!
My first visit to the WAG will most likely be my last. We chose WAG from menu and pictures on line. When we got there I found the tables to be extremely close together, we were seated in what looked like some kind of add-on patio that had been hastily enclosed offered little in the way of ambiance.
We had the seafood trio appetizer ,it was was excellent. My halibut was very salty, the culprit to the saltiness was the canned artichokes (I guess some one forgot to rinse when the opened the can?). My husband ordered the lamb shank, nice meat but absolutely smothered in the sauce. Excluding the appie, I could have cooked these dishes better at home.
On the upside, our waitress was lovely and attentive.
I heard the WAG was highly recommended so my husband and I decided to come here for my birthday on a Saturday night. We got sat at a tiny table for two people but barely had enough room for our glasses and food. Our cutlery was dirty with actual food crusted on, and when we asked for replacements the waiter didn't remove the old set of cutlery/napkins (they were all folded together) which didn't help with the real estate on the table! Our starters came, and the waiter put the basket of bread actually ON my bread plate to make room for the starters! Our mains were very good, very tasty and a great temperature. I found they crammed in a lot of tables, and it was loud because it was so open.
Very impressed with cocktails and food. Definitely going back!
I think this restaurant has been here a long time. We dined in what was an outdoor deck, now enclosed. Our table was my least favourite in the centre of the room, made cozy with two new large planters either side to give us a sense of privacy. We both had the halibut dish which was worth traveling all the way from the North Shore. he fish was done to a turn, sauced expertly with shrimp garnish and coupled with crunchy green beans and plain white rice. We started with the mesclun wild greens with slivered pears and blue cheese. Attentive service but not hovering. Altogether an excellent evening. Sorry, we drink water and neither of us have a sweet tooth.
Food and service excellent. I know this is a very old building and historic but I do believe it is time for a makeover. Keep the character but redo and repair. The stairway in particular.
This is my very favourite restaurant. I have never once had a problem with the food or service, everything is always perfect!
This was our first time dining here. The staff were very friendly and the view was outstanding but the food was overpriced. I am more than happy to pay $20 for a good entree but the quality was just not there.
Food was ok. Service was very good, very helpful server. The actual menu was old and tatty needs to be replaced. The menu REALLY needs updating. Same old same old.
As a vegetarian, the menu did not have too many options however upon request, the kitchen was able to to turn the flat bread into a delicious vege delight. It was perfect and the envy of my companion and many other guests.
A big thanks to the kitchen for accommodating my dietary needs and presenting a very delicious meal.
This restaurant has a nice ambience, went specifically for the entertainment Brandon Issak. He was awesome. You need to seat yourself near the back of the restaurant to hear if there is entertainment. We loved it. The waitress was fabulous and the staff friendly. We had the spring rolls, which though the waitress said were now made in house and were great, we preferred them last year when we went. I would not order those again. The bocconcini salad we had, had older tomatoes with no flavour, the spice was dried and not fresh as I would expect and the bocconcini had the strangest mushy flavour. The short ribs were good, mashed potatoes great, green beans undercooked. The steelhead was good. Complimentary bread was incredibly light, good.
As usual the WAG was pretty great. We had booked a reservation and asked for a front table but we weren't seated at one. Then the hostess came back and told us she had just noted our special request and moved us right away! Nice! The food was yummy for 3 of the 4. I tried the pork loin.. it was delicious BUT there was alot of fat on it so that was a disappointment. But that was the only down side. The wonton shrimp were so yummy.. we all agreed we are ordering them the next time! All in all.. you can't make a mistake reserving a table at this gem on the beach!
The food and service are always Fabulous!!!
I was surprised that by booking on line 4 days in advance that we would be given one of the smallest tables for 4 people in the farthest corner of the restaurant, not to happy as we go to this restaurant at least once a month....
We were put in the back room under the ovens , oops heaters, people kept bumping my chair as they moved about . My food was mediocre at best ( stuffed Chicken or i thing it was ) the lady had a seafood Hot pot and she claims it was great. My portion was okay a little small but nothing special.
The service was okay but the numbers she had to serve was beyond her capacity. She did okay with what she was dealing with..
We both have physical impairment so getting to your restaurant was a challenge , Not to mention no handicapped parking !!!!
Your restaurant was recommended to us and unfortunately I can't do the same.
Food was a little more than other places on the beach and not nearly as good. Average at best. Edible.
We were there for our daughter's birthday and had a wonderful experience. Server was very attentive and food was great.
What a perfect combination - delicious food, friendly and efficient service, beautiful sunset and good entertainment.
We never get disappointed when we have dinner at the WAG. Food and service was excellent.
I have never had a bad experience at the WAG! Awesome Food, Service & Ambience - not to mention the fantastic view! All in All I Love going to the WAG and will continue to do so!
I suggested going to WAG to a small group of my friends for a girls night out. Really hopping it was everything I remembered from the last time.
Sure enough, the evening was a hit. The sun was setting, when we were sitting by the window view by the ocean. My sangria I ordered was so refreshing, and just what I needed. We had good service, and never felt rushed.
Then the live band started up and the night just got better. Appies, dinner & of course dessert too.......amazing.
When getting the bill it was made simple splitting it up between us.
Thx Washington Ave Grill
Will be back again very soon!!
We loved the relaxed feeling and cozy surroundings. Everyone was friendly and the menu was diverse, suiting everyone's tastes.
I had the curry and kahula prawns and loved them, and my friend had the salmon Panini and was very pleased with it. She had the yam fries and the dip with the fries was to die for!!! Fabulous and very enjoyable!
Washington Grill is one of my favourite restaurants. I always have great food and the service is always prompt and attentive.
That was our first time at the Washington Grill, recommended by a friend. We will definitely be coming back, the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Loved the live music.
Out for our anniversary and had a great night with excellent service and wonderful food, couldn't have asked for a better night
Great food. Great service...Awesome view a must place to eat when in White Rock
We visited the WAG for lunch with friends as a birthday treat and we all enjoyed it very much. The food was delicious and the service excellent and we will, no doubt, be back again soon.
The Wag never disappoints. I have been here many many times and it is consistently great. The food and service is always 5 star. I have never once had bad service, and only one time did I have an issue with my food, and it was fixed without hesitation to my satisfaction. I will definitely continue to go there.
Good food combined with good portion size. Prices are inline with a restaurant of this type. Would recommend to anyone. Live music on the weekends that is audible but not over powering. Great for summertime as afterwards you can go for a walk along the White Rock boardwalk.
We enjoyed the food and our server was very nice, attentive and fun.
The music ( the female singer) on the other hand was too loud and not soothing/light.
Other than that, the place was packed, very warm and inviting and we had a nice evening over all.
The Washington Avenue Grill is always a favorite!
Great food and wonderful sunset view. Nice atmosphere with live music and good drinks. Friendly staff and great service.
