Washington Avenue Grill Ratings and Reviews
Excellent night, we had a reservation so getting seated was easy and had immediate service while we waited for the rest of our party. Service was non rushed and friendly, once orders placed there was appropriate time between appetizers and main course, again ..non rushed service. Food was great, portion sizes just right.
We will be back !
Always great, good food well presented and fair portions .
Great taste. Good service and reasonable prices.
Ambiance could be better, the place requires some TLC, paint the stairs, touch up the decor. Ie. spend a little money on the place. You have to put some money back into the place to remain current.
The restaurant requires a good cleaning, particularly the lobby entrance. Not very welcoming.
All in all very good but very noisy . I paid with 2 / 50$ gift cards a bill wich was 87$ but the waitress kept the remaining 13$ on the gift card without asking me if I would like to keep the card with the remaining balance . Hmmm don't know what to say to this . Food absolut great in taste and value and quality
My 2 teenage daughters and I went for dinner. The youngest is not a fan of seafood but our favourite server Eric assured her he would suggest a meal for her that the Chef could create. She was delighted and not disappointed. ( She ate the majority of it and ate the rest the next day; which she rarely does). The eldest enjoyed her favourite meal and I got to enjoy all the greatness that the WAG has to offer.
Nothing bad to say. Food was delicious. Steelhead was cooked to perfection and just right potion size. My daughter ordered seafood hotspot and loved it. Martini was excellent just a little slow from the bar but forgiven due to rest of service. Always good food
This is a go-to for us when we want a good meal. We were celebrating my wife's birthday but her favourite ahi tuna wa slightly over cooked and the portion was very small compared to many previous visits. My ribs were excellent! Service was good and friendly! We planned to be there before sunset and it was TOTALLY worth it! Great view!
I especially love coming here on Wednesdays as I love wine and they have 1/3 off a great selection of wines. Janie is also one of my favourite musicians. The staff, service and ambiance are my favourite things in addition to my favourite appies and entrees.
Great food as usual!
However the server, knowing it was my wife's birthday brought us a piece of cake with a sparkler. Very nice of her, yes. But we did not get to choose the cake nor did we order it and then we found she had charged for it when the bill came.
A little cheesy to give someone a birthday present and then ask them to pay for it.
Haven't eaten here for years. I wasn't even sure the WAG was still there. But we had a coupon and thought we would give it a try. We got a same day reservation for dinner for 4 of us. Our service was good and the food was very good. We enjoyed ourselves and would recommend the WAG to others looking for a nice place with good food and service.
We got a gift card and thought we'd give it a shot. Even though it wasn't "our own" money, it killed me to part with almost fifty bucks for this experience. Marginal food at best; We-Don't-Care-to-Notice-You service; dishes which had baked-on food from the dishwasher...I could go on. I ordered a salad which in fact had a delicious balsamic reduction dressing, however there was so little substance to the salad itself I can honestly say I have had bigger side salads for half the 13.99 this effort cost us. Even the water had to be requested, and it came in cloudy/dirty? glasses with room temperature water. I ordered a coke just for something cold to drink and even that was awful. Surely for the price we can expect a reasonable reproduction of a simple beverage? This one was bottom-end bargain brand -- I am not being unkind, just honest -- and was so watered down with ice that it literally had no sweetness left. Awful. Had to ask for a refill of water. No dessert menu. We had a reservation (although to no surprise of ours we had no need for one)...but nobody asked. Nobody cared. And you know what? Neither do we! We will never, ever return to this dump, gift card or not. I feel badly for our friends who sacrificed the 50.00 for this gift to us. Appreciated the sunny view that day at least!
We have frequented The Wag for a number of years. The food is very good the service is always good and sometimes you get lucky and get a great window seat on the ocean side as we did Saturday night. We initially were seated by a large 50th birthday celebration which was just too noisy for us and they were very gracious to move us to what we thought was one of the best tables for two in the whole restaurant. We had a great time, it was a great date with my Bride of 27 years.
Just not quite as good as first visit. Ordered seafood pot. Last time cornbread was served this time not. Broth not as coconut tubas last time and needed salt but still ok. Waitress screwed up on appt although got one on the house salmon wontons excellent. Thank you
We were entertaining a business associate from Italy and wanted to go somewhere that was different than the usual steak house he often is taken too when here. I was looking for somewhere that had good variety on the menu, a fun atmosphere and a view. This turned out to be a perfect place for that. Our server was great, the food was good and we had the perfect window table. We'll be going back again.
Overall this was not the best experience we had here at WAG. The elderflower Collins was horrible it tasted like sprite, returned it and charged us for the drinks we returned as they were not made correct. Gnocchi tasted as if it was a deep fried mini perogi, not fresh tasting at all. Have had better experiences in the past.
This is the second time I have eaten here, and just seems like the food only gets better and better.
The meat is so flavorful and mashed potatoes are to die for.
Pricey but we'll worth the money.
Thank you for an amazing experience and great dinner to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday.
I always feel rushed when we go to the WAG. They brought the main course when they hadn't cleared the appetizer plates and stood there while we lifted up the appetizer plates, arranged the drinks and candle and then they put the main course down. We were probably in and out of there in an hour and paid $110 with tip. This is the regular experience each time we go.
