We had a perfect meal at Wasan last Saturday night, celebrating my middle daughter's birthday. The service was perfect, everything we ordered was delicious, and it felt like a bargain for all that we got. They brought out some green tea ice cream with a candle in it for my daughter at the end of the meal, plus green tea and complimentary mini chocolate martinis/lemonade. Over all a wonderful experience, thank you Wasan!
Middle school graduation. Delicious food. Interesting choices wonderful service.
Very well priced food. Good service. Would definitely go back again.
We were celebrating a college graduation with a party of 8. It was really easy to make a reservation and also adjustments. The food was excellent and we were treated kindly. Definitely recommend!
Was our first visit after reading prior reviews of the restaurant. I did like the fact that our table was set/ready once we arrived for our reservation. I’ve been to places before in which I’ve had a reservation but still waited once we arrived. Also the service was good, everyone attentive & ready to answer questions, offer advice etc.
That said I guess I had higher expectations based on reviews but for me nothing had me wanting more. Perhaps it was what we ordered but again nothing beyond what you would expect in such an establishment. Pricing was reasonable for what we had.
Overall I’m not sure I’d return unless a small group wanted to based on whatever was going on in the neighborhood. Again I’m not as all looking down but just wasn’t the experience we’d hoped for this time.
The food was great, the saké was great, the service was great! There's nothing more to say. I would recommend it for anyone who enjoys sushi. The location near the Barclays Center is also a plus.
It’s was great , this is not my first time., but I feel like I need to say something. I just wish this place will last , food is truly authentic as promised , service is the best. I wish them good luck.ll
Good Japanese food in a chill, laid back environment
Good food and nice small & quaint space. That said, they asked us to leave at 8pm because they wanted to seat someone else. I found that super rude and we were still drinking our cocktails, likely would've been gone in 10 minutes anyway, but it felt super rude to me. I was just saying how I'd love to come back when the waitress walked up to tell us, really left a bad taste in my mouth.
Always consistent and yummy food, we always eat everything we order! :-) Except they changed the pork buns recipe, which is not as good as it used to be! Please change it back!
The food here is fine but both times I have been the service was less than welcoming and food took forever to come out.
Consistently yummy, we love it here! Always tastes clean and good. 😋
Fantastic Valentine’s Day dinner. Food was great and the price was very reasonable.
A cute, well-located spot, but the food wasn’t that good. Nice service and good Sake, but for a place charging upscale prices the food wasn’t on that level.
One of the best tasting menus in the city, for just $53 you can have a great set of dishes. The only issue with this specific visit was that they, like most restaurants, came up with a special Valentine's Day menu. Not only did it cost more, but it had fewer dishes, and some where rather strange ideas, especially chicken Cesar salad which doesn't make sense in the context of the other dishes.
Wonderful experience here for a friend's birthday dinner. The food is delicious, fresh and creative and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome, including surprising us with a round of complimentary chocolate sake (don't question, just try it!) and a treat for her 6 year old son.
We had a reservation for dinner and were seated promptly upon your arrival. Our server was great, the food was phenomenal, and although they were busy we had wonderful and relaxing dinner, never feeling rushed. I would definitely recommend this place.
Took my girlfriend on a date here. I actually made a reservation although it wasn’t busy and they actually put out a nice sign for my reservation on the table. Food was delicious as well. We ordered some
appetizers that consisted of some teriyaki sushi rolls and a pork bun. The entrees we ordered were delicious and came in a timely fashion. I may come back here.
Great quality and great service. The fish is very fresh and the prices are reasonable. It is an amazing neighborhood gem.
FOOD WAS GREAT. OUTSTANDING MENUE AND PREPARATION OF AUTHENTIC JAPANESE QUISINE.
Made a reservation for dinner prior to an event at Barclays. Table was ready when we got there with a name tag reserving it, nice touch. Service was very good and super friendly. Fish dinner and sushi was delicious and creative. The black cod marinated in sake lees was a new dish to me and was excellent. Across the street from Barclays so it's very convenient. I would certainly recommend!
Authentic Japanese izakiya meets sushi. Fantastic sake menu. Best in the hood
Always fresh Japanese fare. Wide variety of sakes. Great waitstaff.
Very nice ambiance, beautiful service plates and glasses assume from japanisev origin , good food,
sake-lees cod was delicious, as was the duck/cucumber roll. definitely recommend this place
Poor services! The waitress was in bad mood and gove customer rude attitude. No smile, No Thank you.
This place is amazinggggg! My friends and I got together for my boyfriend's 25th birthday and enjoyed the experience thoroughly. We found the place when walking through the neighborhood randomly and decided to host the party here. From the food being great to the impeccable service, it was a very enjoyable experience. The server wasn't told directly that it was my boyfriend's birthday but must have overheard us and when we ordered dessert they came prepared with a candle in his selection and sang the birthday song. I will definitely recommend Wasan Brooklyn 10 times over. Thank you once again and we will be back.
As usual, the food and service is impeccable. Very friendly and cozy. On my favorites list to come back. Sashimi was fabulous as was the Unagi and Ramen.
The food was great and service was fabulous! We loved their ramen and sushi!
The food at Wasan is something special - carefully crafted and delicious. Not your run of the mill sushi place by any means! Great service, too.
Food was great service was fast and charming, great little go to neighborhood gem!
Excellent food - my first time having sushi here (always go for the lunch bentos) and it was perfect.
Enjoyed a delicious meal before a short walk to see the Islanders play at Barclays. Really lovely Japanese, great flavors, & friendly efficient service. Having lived in Japan for more than 5 years, I am fussy about my Japanese, but I was vey happy with our meal. The steak cooked on the stone hot plate was lots of fun, and very tasty! It is a small neighborhood restaurant, clean and I would definitely enjoy another meal if close by.
We went in for a quick bite before a basketball game at Barclays. Nice quiet place with friendly staff and good Japanese food. Great sake selection too. We will return.
Dinner with our college attending, visiting son. Food is authentically Japanese and well prepared. There are some "fusion" dishes on the menu (uni with avocado) which we did not try, although they sounded appetizing. Service was prompt and unobstrusive
Waitstaff was great, duck-cucumber rolls are definitely something I’ll get again.
Lights were low and it was dark outside—would make for a good date place.
5 minutes to get seated (with reservations, there were open tables)
10 minutes before we received menus
10 minutes before order taken
asked for Suntory neat, was served on the rocks
Sushi fell apart - very poorly rolled rolls
Outside of the (delicious) pickles, everything was forgettable.
Service was horrible! We went for Valentine's day dinner. My fiance's food order was wrong, arrived 25 minutes before so she was done eating by the time my food came and we were running late for the basketball game so I had to rush. No apologies or acknowledgement of the delay. Terrible!!!!
Food is great. We went out for lunch, and the price is one of the best deals for the high quality of food in town! People who work there were nice, but not well trained and a bit awkward. Our waiter didn't know that sake is not beer. A person, who brought us lunch boxes knocked a small plate of soy sauce on the table. He had only one napkin. He didn't come back with more paper towels to clean... It's not they didn't care us. It's just they don't know how to act when things go wrong. All and all, we had a great time with great foods with good price :) We'll go back! But if you are looking for a place to impress your boss, this place may be a bit risky...at least for now.
