About Ward's House of Prime Milwaukee
Collectively, we’ve been in the steakhouse business for as long as you’ve been craving a truly unique dining experience – maybe even longer. At Ward's House of Prime Milwaukee, we learned what you wanted from a steakhouse and then we designed a restaurant where high-end entrees are served at a reasonable price in an atmosphere that’s upscale yet relaxed.
At our steakhouse, we want you to feel just as comfortable ordering full-plate entrees in the main dining room as you would ordering from the bar menu and watching sports in the lounge. While prime rib is our specialty (served every day), we also give special attention to seafood, chicken, veal and vegetarian entrees as well as our lighter fare of appetizers, sliders and stonefire flatbreads. And we offer a variety of martinis, beers, cocktails and wines by the glass – as well as an extensive list of 500 wines by the bottle, all at a fair price.
We hope you’ll dine with us soon!

Ward's House of Prime Milwaukee Ratings and Reviews
I took my friend there for her birthday. We were there for lunch. I mentioned we were celebrating a birthday when I made the reservation through Open Table and never mentioned it again. The restaurant was surprisingly empty when we were there. I'm not sure why because this place is awesome! Our server was very attentive and pleasant. We both enjoyed our meals tremendously and the lunch items are reasonably priced. At the end of our meal they gave my friend a choice of cakes to pick from with their compliments for her birthday. It was such a nice lunch and we weren't rushed. This is our favorite place to go. We know we will always have good food, service and everything is always very clean and everyone is friendly.
First time I have ever been here and will be going back. The Appetizer was wonderful(cheese and meat plate). We both had Steak and Lobster which were cooked perfectly to order. We also both had lobster bisque soup which was very good, but the lobster seemed a little over cooked. Overall, I would recommend Ward's to friends and family
We love Wards. Always great food and great service. I tried the filet and scallops, though I am normally a ribeye gal. Both were delicious! We had the mac n cheese with andouille as our side. We couldn't finish it, so brought it home to enjoy. So glad we did.
Our first visit to Wards was awesome. This time we ate at 5. The walleye was great but the potatoes were yesterday’s fingerlings wrinkled and reheated. Thank goodness we were given a double baked when I called it to their attention. The steak could not be beat. The strawberry salad was the best salad I’ve had all season. Our waiter was hard to find and the coffee was lukewarm at best. Nonetheless, I would definitely go back.
This was our second time eating at Ward's House of Prime (WHoP). We were celebrating my husband's 56th birthday. WHoP has terrific food and service. The ambiance is quite lovely. If you love prime rib (or I had the Pan Seared Sea Bass) this is where you need to go.
Food was very good but the slow service detracted from the experience. (The food was served perfectly warm, etc. so I think THE SLOW SERVICE WAS THE KITCHEN'S FAULT. Also, there were several empty tables around us so the staff should not have been "strained" by the work load.)
Couple the slow service with the price....it is not good value for money.
Calamari was hotel bar quality--nothing special, very basic dipping sauce. Prime Rib was incredibly good, great flavor. Dry aged NY Strip was not well seasoned, extremely tough (I know strip is not necessarily a "tender" cut), lots of stringy connective tissue etc to cut through; it was more work than it was worth to eat. Sauce was good, however. Filet was not well seasoned and "not even in my top 10". Bisque was great, mashed potatoes were great (both VERY rich), but the entrees really just didn't shine. I was asked for sweet or sour for my old fashioned--which really threw me off; it was probably close to a 10 oz drink and was pretty mediocre in flavor--again almost hotel bar quality. $5 valet was a great deal! Service was not very genuine and somewhat rushed. All-in-all I'd go back for the prime rib but not recommend any get any of the other meat choices.
The food was tasty but the service was very poor. To make up for it the manager did take our drinks off the bill and give us a $20 voucher for our next visit. That's great and all but my time is valuable and service is key. There will not be a next time and we even gave the $20 voucher back!
Service impeccable, atmosphere comfortable, congenial hosts. I selected Ward's for the prime rib but my dining companion is a vegan but found enough alternatives on the menu to be very happy...he eats fish and selected the white fish which he said was superb. My prime rib, a 24 oz. portion, was rare as requested but hard to cut and chewy--not what I expected from from an aged cut. The accompanying salad was fresh and flavorful. I requested crumbled blue cheese with French dressing, which they happily--and skillfully provided. I choose the twice baked potato for my other side and was disappointed in that it needed seasoning and was cool when presented. We ordered the spinach--I believe it was blanched--and it tasted fresh and flavorful...I added a little horseradish which gave it a 'kick' which was the piquant taste I like most. The occasion was a birthday celebration and the restaurant provided a complimentary slice of their 4 layer chocolate cake as a birthday dessert. It was flavorful while being light, a great dish and a large enough portion for two. In summary, the pros heavily outweighed the cons at Ward's and I look forward to my next visit.
Have eaten there several times but this was a disappointment. Split a 16 oz ribeye with my daughter and it was too grisly and not tender at all. Steak at hiome is always better then this cut. The potatoes and side of sprouts were cold. Bar area was only 35% full. Even the main dinning room was not full on a Sat, night. Good news is we could wathc 3 football games as we ate.
This restaurant was a recommendation from a friend so we decided to try it out before a concert Saturday night. We arrived at 6 and it wasn't crowded at all, which was refreshing. The service was outstanding throughout the meal. The food was amazing! I have to say the best prime rib and twice baked potato that I have ever had! We also had crab legs for an appetizer beforehand and they were also delicious. Great selection of wines. We had a great dinner and a great night! Will definitely need to go back soon!
Fantastic steak. Prime rib was outstanding. Ribeye was delicious. Potato and salad come with the meal. Side vegetables were extra but large enough for two and won't break the bank. The chocolate cake dessert was enormous. Great bar scene, perfectly prepared steak.
The Bone-In Ribeye was done perfectly and very tasty. The ribs were very tender and flavorful. The rolls were also very good. The Lobster Bisque had little chunks of Lobster but the taste was a bit lacking. I wouldn't have wanted it any saltier. What little flavor there was was good but it was a little weak.
