The steak was great, the martinis were tasty and dessert was sumptuous. My first time in Wisconsin and if I come back thru this place is definitely on my list if I come back. The waiter was attentive and gave great suggestions on where to go during my visit.
We have been there twice. First time, don't remember, but remember the quality of food. Second time, steaks were very good and prepared as ordered. However, service lacked. Server was friendly, but unattentive to small, but expected details for a restaurant of this caliber. Examples were, not greeted at the table for nearly 8 minutes of sitting down, (they were not packed by the way) forgetfulness in bringing out premeal bread and butter and had to ask, water not checked on for refill, and highly probable that cooks prepared spinach in butter even though we advised them of my wifes dairy allergy. We believe My wife had complications next morning. Also, and no fault on waiter, but he arrived to inform us they couldn't accept our gift card, because she ordered their "special 12 Oz prime rib" which was in their eyes, Co mingling coupons. Assistant manager handled it with professionalism and made up the difference. Prices were a bit steep in our opinion and almost close to Chicago steak houses, but overall, food was 4 star and would go back one more time to gI've it another chance.
Ward's never disappoints. Food is always delicious
Great date night atmosphere!
Food was great, service was very slow for our group of 8.
The manager and chef both stopped by.
Great food, but it was freezing by the window. Server delayed our food, so that took longer than expected given no one was in the restaurant. Overall great place to go
Fantastic prime rib and the hand made cocktails were prepared perfectly.
Food was good but service wasn't on par with the prices. I asked for the sauce on the side with my $50+ steak and it came covered with sauce. Also never got the glass of wine I ordered.
All the food was delicious. Prime rib is our favorite cut and Ward's didn't disappoint. We will definitely return
We ordered two 12oz prime rib specials on Friday night, both medium rare. They were on the rare side of medium rare and the cut of meat was not near what I would expect from a restaurant that is known for it's prime rib. The outer edge of the cut which is traditionally the most flavorful, was inedible - too chewy to enjoy. The meat itself had strings running through it with a lot of inedible fatty parts. I think the cut would have been easier to eat if cooked to medium, but even with that it would not have been near as good as I had expected. I am sorry to say that the atmosphere was what made the night special, not the food (though the potato soup and the lobster bisque were amazing!).
This was my second trip to Wards House of Prime and it was just as enjoyable as the first visit. I drove over a hundred miles, crossed state lines and it was worth every mile traveled. The Prime Rib was sublime, the appetizers and side dishes were excellent and the service was flawless. Even the Valet had my vehicle ready before I walked out the door. It was a great dining experience and the City of Milwaukee looked so much better to me because of it. Great Job Wards!
The food was excellent but the knives were very dull. Wouldn’t expect that from a top end steak house.
Great steak. Could cut the prime rib with a spoon. Cocktails are really good too. Would recommend!
A truly exceptional birthday celebration for our son. The food was perfect. The service was excellent, warm and personal. One of the best meals we've had in Milwaukee. Wards is truly a treasure.
Definitely wasn’t impressed based off the reviews we had read prior to making a reservation. Had calamari and it was so bland. My steak was over cooked and way smaller, like it was butterflied and cooked in microwave to get it medium well. Even after I indicated I didn’t want it butterflied. Thank goodness for the dipping sauce as the steak had zero flavor and the sauce wasn’t good either . The baked potato was some tiny shriveled thing out of the microwave. For a Steakhouse I’d never think to serve such a thing to a customer. For as little as we get out for a nice dinner, what a waste of money! Will never return!!
The food was better than expected. Mussels were some of the best I e ever had. I recommend the lobster bisque instead of the salad. Best soup I ever had. Prime rib was cooked perfectly. I will be going back sometime soon!
Great food, comfortable seating, and fantastic service!
We had the filet, medium are, they were outstanding. Very tender.
Floor tables are a little close to each other, so expect your neighbor to listen in some.
Outstanding prime rib and lobster. Awesome cocktails. Great service. Very friendly staff . Will always come back for more.
We had an amazing dinner. We took our daughter who is going to college in the area out for her birthday. She and my husband had the prime rib, I had the Roasted Chicken Breasts (w spinach in a parmesan cream sauce). All 3 dishes were so delicious. The service was perfect. We loved our dinner.
Had an amazing experience. The entire staff was very nice. The food was amazing and the way everyone went above in service, I will be back again and with more guests.
I must say I brought my fiance 2 Ward's Steakhouse and she was very amazed it was a Valentine's Day gift the steak was good the Lobster biscuits good there's nothing bad I can say about this place it was a nice location for my limousine driver and yes I'll recommend you to all my family and friends into my business associates and we planning on booking another date there again thank you for the well Service the bartender was wonderful and all I Staffing Services
I was disappointed with the taste or lack there of of my steak. Was a little under cooked for whay I wanted and extremely bland. We have eaten there 2 other times and the food was excellent, this time was disappointing...
It was Valentine’s Day and we enjoyed a nice dinner .
I absolutely love this place! The food is always amazing! Wards has never let us down! Julia, the manager, isn’t always so pleasant and making sure our expectations are met!
I had been to the restaurant previously with family. This time it was my husband and I only. We had an early reservation so the place was not busy. Even so the waiter seemed unable to get a drink order when we sat and swung by twice to say they were waiting on bread and would come to explain the menu. About 20 minutes in we finally got the important bread and the drink order was taken, but before we could say we are ready to order now, they left the table. The food was good and the place is nice, but the service was pretty poor and we were glad that the hockey game we’d previously had planned to attend had been rescheduled - we would never have made the game.
Horrible... We spent $115 on two plates one of which was the daily special (30oz prime rib for $40). We tried to use a $25 gift card to pay for a small portion of the bill and we were told by a boisterous waitress that “you can’t use a gift card if you got the special”. What??? This is unheard of. A gift card should have nothing to do with what you ordered. It’s just a payment method. Plus the waitress was so loud about it the 3 tables behind us were all having a conversation about our embarrassing interaction. I could tell the waitress was well rehearsed and had used that tactic on others. Save your money and go to a steakhouse that can actually fill their seats on a Friday night. Wards was 40% full. Not surprised in the least given the poor management. I’ll never go back after that embarrassing incident.
Although the soup was good, I had never seen a cup of soup so small at a restaurant. The banana cake was absolutely wonderful.
The service was perfect, the food was everything we wanted.
Overall great experience. Ended up being in a hurry to get to another event so had to be in and out in 45 minutes. Our server, Adam (I think) did a great job gettitng us apps and dinner. I sent prime rib back to get more temp and they did so quickly. Happy Hour was boomiby also!
Phenomenal dinner experience. Group of 5 guys and they put us in a private room. Prime Rib was delicious. Prime rib chili was out of this world. Service was great. Highly recommend.
Very comfortable atmosphere, good food, awesome staff
reservation was at 6:45 pm and we were seated within 2 min of that. The hostess was accommodating and quickly moved us to a different table where there were no drafty windows. The server came to take our orders within minutes of us being seated. The food took a little while to get to the table though. The steak and prime rib were very good but need additional seasoning. The server made sure he came to check on us periodically. The ambiance was very romantic, quiet, and a great spot for an intimate date. We had a nice time.
We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation, and they apologised for not having our table ready. We sat at the bar, and I was very impressed with the world class selection of whiskey they offered. We both had prime rib. I ordered the 16oz, which was probably closer to 20oz.I paired it with a glass of 12yr old Red Breast. It was hands down, the best steak I have ever tasted. I wish I could remember our servers name, he was friendly, engaging, and made us feel like we were the only 2 people in the restaurant. It was a wonderful experience.
It should be noted that you definitely get what you pay for. If price is the first thing you look for on the menu, this probably isn't the place for you. Plan on a minimum of $100, depending on how thirsty you are.
The food all around was amazing the wine list and drinks are exceptional. I was drinking the Apple Old Fashioneds omg so good. The price is quite high but the food is nothing to be scoffed at, at any rate in my opinion it’s pushing the upper limit of value but I will be going back, it’s a great once in a while place for someone on a budget like me. My check for 1 appetizer 2 meals 2 old fashioneds 2 sodas and 2 deserts was $150+
Super Prime Rib and the soup tonight was outstanding.
We were impressed with the service and environment offered by Wards. I ordered my prime rib medium and the meat was very good. The only problem was I've never liked the type of steak that has a amount of jelly-like fat that naturally comes with prime rib. Think I'll stick to filet mignon in future.
Eaten at Ward's four times before and was excellent each time. This time, the steak had no flavor and the medium rare prime rib was so tough, the steak knife would barely cut through it. The chocolate cake for dessert was awful also. Quality of food nowhere near what it was the last four times we have eaten there. For the cost of the meal, very disappointed and will not be returning. Service, however, was excellent.
Exceptional food. I had the 16oz prime rib with a twice baked potato. I also had shared the brussel sprouts and had the lobster bisque. The prime rib was fantastic as usual paired nicely with a horseradish cream sauce. My only criticism was the Bisque. While the flavor was good the lack of lobster meat was glaring (there were lobster bits but that’s about it). Other than that the food and the overall experience was great and I would recommend to beef lovers everywhere.
The food was good, yet not as flavorful as expected.
