Brunch is delightful , my only gripe is that a all the eggs Benedict we ordered were over cooked . Nothing dramatic
I had booked reservations to Ward 8 based on their menu. We were heading into Boston to see the Bruins and wanted a meal that could appeal to the group we were with; Ward 8 seemed to fit everyone's appetite. We were greeted nicely by the hostess and seated immediately. However, on review of the menu, we found out they were only serving brunch. It would have been helpful if the website advertised this information, as we were not aware it was brunch only and you could not access the lunch menu. Additionally, the waiter could have smiled a bit more.
Our food was great and the ambiance was nice, however our waiter was remarkably unfriendly throughout the entire meal, which made for an uncomfortable experience overall.
Great dining experience all around!
I really like the food and service at Ward 8. Unfortunately, for dinner before a Celtics game, it was so noisy, so loud, and somewhat earsplitting. My husband and I had difficulty enjoying the experience. We might go again, but not on a game night...
We told the waitress we were splitting two dishes and hey cut everything in half and gave us extra platters.
Most accommodating service. Great food and drinks too!
Love the food... great place for a group ... alway love to bring friends there.
I always enjoy a trip to Ward 8. Great for Sunday brunch or just grabbing cocktails. The bartenders are always having fun and you can tell they love what they do. The cocktail and food menus always have something for everyone.
There were 4 of us having dinner prior to heading to City Winery for a concert. We had lots of wine and the people dining enjoyed the chicken sandwich, Mac and cheese, flatbread and the bacon cheese fries. Everyone loved their food and the atmosphere was quaint but casual. Will definitely recommend this place and also return myself.
We had a very early 5:30pm reservation on a Saturday night, and we actually got there 20 minutes early. They sat us right away, however the waitress was really rushing and pushing us to order really fast. Soon after we ordered our drinks, she wanted to take our order for food. We told her we would just like to enjoy your drinks first, before we ordered appetizers and entrées. She came back five minutes later saying we can’t do that. So we placed our order for the appetizers. A few minutes later she comes by and wants to take our entrée order. We tell her we are not ready, and that we want to enjoy our experience. By the way the whole place was empty. They were just only people sitting at the bar, every table was empty. She came back another time a couple minutes later, and we just gave up and gave her our order. There was literally no reason to rush us so much when the place was truly empty. This kind of ruined our special meet up experience with my friends. The drinks and food were really good, however this experience with the waitress really put us in a sour mood.
Awesome restaurant - great food, great service, & great ambiance.
Went for Valentines Day, a few specials - creative options, good food & presentation. A little "loud", but nice overall - we'll be back!
The location is stellar, just around the corner from the Garden. The bar area is large and tends to get very loud, so loud in fact, that if you're seated at a table when the bar area fills up, you won't be able to have a conversation with your dining companion. The food is really good, I highly recommend the Duck Wing appetizer.
This is good addition to the downtown brunch options and pre-Garden sports meal.
The food is very tasty, good menu and very good service. It is casual, a neighborhood feel that is urban and contemporary, and a good meeting place for friends, family or co-workers.
The food is great but the service is horrendous! Instantly gives the impression of being understaffed, had to wait a while to get greeted and seated, the waitress seemed very rushed, and we had to call her to clean our table. The worst thing though was that the milk provided for me, to go in my coffee, was given to me in a dirty cup. The cup had oil and pepper in it! Honesty disgusting!
The food is good but I won't return, really bad service and they require to teach the staff on things like making sure the dishes are clean before serving and proper customer service.
Great! Can’t complain. Great meal.
Food and drinks were excellent! It was a bit noisy, crowded, and service was slow, but it was understandable as we went just before a Celtics game. It was our third time at Ward 8 and it won’t be the last!
Friendly staff! Great music and atmosphere!! The food was ok but nothing I would rave about. Comfort: if you sit against the wall in the booth style seats, you’ll be comfortable. However if you sit in a chair and your butt is larger than a size 8 or 10, you may find yourself fighting to get comfortable. Drink heads up: Depending on your pallet, you may find the “Hang Ten” a bit sour. Will definitely come back to hang out at the bar. Overall it’s a nice place.
Googled10 best sports bars in Boston. This place came up. Not a sports bar at all.
Went to Ward 8 before a Celtics game with my 13 year old niece. We were seated quickly and our waitress was excellent. Drinks and food came quickly and were very good. My niece had the Mac & Cheese but asked to leave out the broccoli, it was rich and yummy, I would have liked the broccoli to cut that. I had the salmon with black rice, excellent.
Grabbed some apps and drinks here before the Celtics game - perfect location close to the garden. Apps came out fast and were quite good - the duck wings are awesome!
I went on a busy night before a Celtics game. The place was reasonably full (but not too crowded), but the acoustics made it extremely loud and everyone in my party of four had to keep repeating themselves and lean over to hear. We sat on the side of the restaurant. I have colleagues who sat in the back on other nights and didn't find the noise to be a problem (which is surprising to me).
Maya, our waitress was very friendly! Food was delicious and Kitchen was accommodating to our allergies.
We stopped by for a meal during the recent AFC Championship game. The place was not crowded and the music was blaring. The staff seemed unconcerned by our presence and the ambiance was poor. When we finally did get food it was completely uninspiring and average at best. No one finished their meals given the quality of the food. The loud music kept blaring and it was hard to enjoy the discussion.
I had heard good things about Ward 8 and was hugely disappointed. I will avoid in the future.
Awesome place with great vibes. Food was phenomenal and came quickly. Attentive service. Bar was raging. Not an empty seat.
The dinner was great! The bathrooms were less than ideal.
Overall we had a good experience. We each had the breakfast sandwich and thought it was pretty good. The roll was fresh and the egg and hamburger were cooked perfectly. I ordered mine with no cheese but got cheese anyway. Luckily it was a white cheddar which had a nice creamy texture that complimented the dish nicely.
The ambiance is fair. Kind of an industrial-graffiti look. The tables are close together and it doesn’t feel cozy enough for intimate gatherings It is good for a quick bite before the game.
The service was decent . We were just about halfway eating before being checked on. There were no condiments at the table so it was too late for even some salt and pepper.
Great food, drinks, service and atmosphere. We were celebrating my wife's birthday with tickets to a concert at TD Garden, so decided on Ward 8 mainly because of its location. But we were both very happy with the choice.
Great, creative cocktails. Dinner was good too. I had the Salmon and my wife had the Lobster Rolls. Dessert was pretty bad. We had the chocolate cake. It was very dry, as if it has been overbaked and then left uncovered in the fridge for a few days. Get a dessert cocktail instead or head into the North End.
We came here for dinner before a show at the Boston Garden, the staff was very friendly and the dining room behind the bar was roomy and comfortable. The bar area looked lively with lots of seating. Food was good, drinks were good, staff was very attentive.
Waitress was wonderful & food delicious. A little cold & loud.
We had a waiter with a serious attitude problem. We couldn’t have been nicer and everything we asked him for he acted as though we were inconveniencing him.
Conveniently a short walk from North Station and the TD Garden. Arrived with a 5:30 reservation prior to an 8 PM Celtics game. The place was fairly empty and we were seated immediately. As the evening went on, the restaurant filled up. Our table was positioned next to a half wall and everyone being seated had to squeeze past my seat and the wall to get to their table. The table should not have been there. No visible coat hooks. It was very cold outside and the only place to put my huge coat was over the back of my chair. I spent my meal concerned that all the people squeezing past us to their tables or the rest rooms were stepping on my coat. The atmosphere was funky with brick walls and high ceilings which unfortunately, made the noise level extreme. I could barely hear my dining companion. Half of the restaurant is a large bar and as the evening went on and more patrons appeared for a drink, the noise level increased. Service was very good. I had a specialty cocktail which was good but disappointing at $12 for a half-full martini glass. I switched to a more reasonable local draft beer at $7.50. We shared the cheesy bacon fries which were very good. I had the macaroni and cheese which was some of the best I have had. My companion had the ramen which he said was good but could have been less salty. FYI - the menu posted on their web site is slightly different what we were offered. Given the food and the service, I would go back at a less busy time when it may not be so noisy.
Delicious food, friendly staff, and modern feel make Ward8 a great place to relax and grab a bite.
The food, drinks, and service were all pretty good. But it was the coldest night of the year (so far) and it was clear that their heating system was either broken or is woefully inadequate to adequately heat the space. They had a handful of space heaters running, but everyone in the room kept their jackets on. I overheard another customer ask to move away from the windows where it was coldest, and was told by the maitre d that those tables were reserved for large groups, even though they remained empty for the duration of our stay. The restroom had no heating at all, and was positively frigid - I could see my breath when I was in there.
So, it was a really unpleasant environment in which to have a cozy meal with friends. Given how pricey the food and drinks are, I would absolutely not return during winter. Might give it another visit when the weather turns warm again.
Took family of 7 to Ward 8 before a Celtic’s game. We had reservations and seat was ready when we arrived. Restaurant was very busy. Waitress was super friendly. We had Burgers, Steak Tips, Chicken, and Mac & Cheese - all comfort food all tasted great. Ward 8 is allergy friendly they altered menu items to accommodate our 3 separate allergies - Dairy, Gluten and Peanuts.
Sports Pub atmosphere with great food was what we were looking for and we found it at Ward 8.
Food was excellent, but service seemed cold and inattentive. A simple greeting of "hello" goes a long way.
A good casual spot for pre Celtics or Bruins games.
Excellent food and service but a little loud
Placed right next to outside door. Not a good thing
