Waraji is still top sushi in Raleigh bar none! The boat we ordered was beautiful and yummy, we had plenty to share, and we had an excellent bottle of sake to accompany the meal
We have been here 3-4 times now. Always terrific. This time we arrived early for our reservations so we elected to get started at the sushi bar. Before we knew it our reservation time had come and gone so we stayed at the bar. Obviously we ate sushi. We started with an assortment and then started adding onto the order. I was particularly enamored with the Blue fin and the Mackerel that night. This was the best Mackerel I had ever had. I think it had to do with the preparation. This fish is often oily, bloody strong smelling and tasting. I used to fish for them years ago in NY. Its used in cat food. This was so incredibly mild, wonderful. The way it was sliced and presented was beautiful. The Blue fin was SO FRESH. It almost melted in your mouth. The Sushi chef was friendly and did some explaining while we were there. This visit I did not imbibe but they have a nice selection of Sake with flight's available. This place is a cut above the average Japanese Restaurant. It shows in the variety of items in the menu, fresh seasonal items, and outstanding sushi. Worth the effort to go out of your way for, we drive up from Sanford for this.
Waraji is always at their best with their menu selection and service. Always recommend to my friends business associates Waraji sushi meals menu as the 'best in town'.
Great dinner as usual. Only negative point, as well as usual, is the temperature which is kept too low by a wild air conditioning.
Waraji easily has the best and most authentic sushi in the triangle.
It is enough value for everyday cuisine.
Sushi for two was just enough. Dry sake was delicious.
The food is always delicious and the service is great.
I couldn't say something negative if I tried. Miso soup deeply flavorful; ginger dressing is just right; and the sushi is over the top.
I made a mistake when the first window opened. We love Waraji!
Waraji is always our favorite Japanese restaurant in Raleigh or I should say in the Triangle area. Both food and service are always excellent.
This is some of the best in the country...no kidding.
Waraji serves the best sushi in the Triangle. Thank you Masa, we are never disappointed .
Loved it as always!
We come here on a regular basis. Love the Nabeyako Udon soup (misspelled). It is fabulous!! Wait staff is super too- esp Damian
Always the best sushi
I only gave a 4/5 rating for food because some of the nigiri had too much wasabi (for my taste) between the rice and the fish.
I SO TOTALLY LOVED THE UDON HERE. I GOT THE FIRST ONE LISTED THAT HAD AN EGG, MUSHROOMS AND SHRIMP IN IT. IT WAS SPECTACULAR!!
You gotta have the shashimI and the seafood soup. Great service for lunch too.
Waraji is always a wonderful experience. It is one of my favorites in Raleigh, and after my daughter took me to dinner for my birthday, it is one of her favorites too!
The food is always fresh and authentic. I try something new every time and it never disappoints. If you are looking for a truly genuine Japanese menu, you should definitely find Waraji!
If you want excellent sushi, this is a must. The pieces were huge, three times as big as the average sushi house. The soup was delicious. Excellent beer and wine choice. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I cant remember the exact name, maybe the crazy jerry roll was three rolls in one and fabulous. Everything was great. My new favorite sushi place in the Raleigh area. We all loved it.
As most Japanese restaurants in the area, Waraji is OK, but not great. The only restaurant in Raleigh that is better than average that I have found for sushi/sashimi is Cowfish.
There is some good sushi in Raleigh, but Waraji consistently is the best, and delivers it with great service!
Made a reservation for 1pm and arrived 10 minutes before. Waited at the Hostess stand until 1:15 and never even had anyone make eye contact with us. Finally stepped in front of one the many wait staff running around us and told them that we have a 1pm reservation. He pointed to table and told us to go over there. We sat down and waited another 15 minutes and no one every came to the table. Worst service that I have ever had in a restauant. Have told many friends of the experience now. Such a shame, I am sure that the food would have been good. Guess that they didnt need the revenue from 6 people that love sushi and were very excited.
The wait staff while efficient was NOT up to the mandatory Gratuity charged. There would be only an 8-10% tip on the service that was offered. There was NO recommendations, they was NO let me see if the chef can do a Yakasoba dish, our group wanted. Our first visit (afternoon) we had many suggestions, and her suggestions were mentioned to the evening staff, and it was Oh yea that is good.
The BEST SUSHI!! Sit at the sushi bar and watch the magic! Masa and his terrific staff aim to please. The sashimi is to die for, shrimp and veggie tempura is light and even the wine list is interesting. The best sushi in Raleigh and as good as I have had in any big city. Go go go!!
My group enjoyed six specialty rolls, and each one was outstanding. Artfully presented and soooo tasty, and served by a friendly and professional server. We also tasted the sake flight, which was very good. I'm new to sake, but it was smooth and easy-drinking, so be careful! It's powerful! I highly recommend Waraji and will definitely return.
went for a quick business lunch, only two tables sat besides us. Waitress seemed a bit tired, but food was quickly served and delicious.
This was a cute place. We made a reservation for 6:30 on a Wednesday and I'm glad we did! It had plenty of space when we got there but then quickly filled with what appeared to be a regular crowd - who started before we got there and people added to the tables, staying past when we left. This quickly filled the restaurant. Food was recommended as the best sushi in Raleigh. I don't know if I'd agree but it was definitely really good, probably in the top 10. Service was good without being overbearing. At the end, we attempted to use a gift card specifically given to us for Waraji and when it didn't work we panicked, but our server was great at coming up with the possible issue and troubleshooting. Overall a good experience.
I've never been disappointed when dining at Waraji. While I wouldn't recommend it for a quite, romatic dinner for two, the casual environment, friendly and attentive service, and excellent sushi makes this a great spot for most any other occassion.
Having just come back from Kyoto and Osaka, I was so happy to find all the flavors of Japan. Everything was fantastic - the green tea, the udon, the ramen, and the sushi!
The sushi and sashimi were pretty standard. It wasn't bad but it didn't wow me away. Is reasonably priced for the quality you'll be getting.
Still the best sushi in Raleigh, and hard to beat no matter where you go!
Waraji may not be the best looking restaurant but the sushi is amazing in terms of quality and the sake selection is unmatched. I have really enjoyed my visits there and suggest you make the trip.
Wonderfully fresh and delicious seafood. Been going there for years now and have never been disappointed. Friends from out of town are
also impressed by the quality of the food. Waraji is my favorite restaurant. It's consistently clean and tasty. It's good for both special occasion or just dinner or lunch out.
Great dining experience at Waraji as we normally experience. Excited to see them open for Lunch and Dinner on Sunday's now. Many times we've wanted to dine on Sunday's and they were closed. The best sushi in the Triangle!
food good, service good, friendly host, sushi came out quickly. the spicy mayo is unbelievable. Need to sell saki by the glass.
I received great service while at Waraji for dinner. The food was good and there was plenty of it for the price. Seating is close to other parties - can sometimes be loud.
My 10 year old chose Waraji for his birthday dinner - that says a lot! Our family loves the little raised rooms where you can dine on the floor in a traditional style. The food was really excellent. One of my son's favorites is gyoza, and I think that we had the best gyoza in Raleigh at Waraji. We also had sushi, sashimi, chicken teriyaki, and udon - all were great! Our waitress was perfectly attentive as well. We had great food and a great time!
Waraji never disappoints - superb sashimi and nigiri, a broad range of classic rolls, and the handful of unique gems (like the Suzuki 500) that you can't find anywhere else. I never hesitate to dine here myself or to host discerning sushi fans from the US or abroad. Waraji is also one of the few restaurants I will happily visit on consecutive nights with no fear of monotony or diminution. It's that good.
