Disappointed (Austin)
3.0  Dined on December 31, 2016

Event was overpriced for the food and show experience. I should have researched the venue before booking. The event takes place under an outdoor tent and you sit at folding tables and chairs much like a wedding reception. Tables are large - seat 12 - so difficult to have a conversation over the meal. I did not realize that children aged 10-12 were also charged at the adult price, which was a bit disappointing as my two kids ate from the kid buffet of mac and cheese and chicken nuggets. The adult buffet was satisfactory but nothing special. No desserts appropriate for kids.

The food was excellent. Check in was a little awkward, requiring a wait in line to check-in, then a wait on the lawn area for the restaurant area, then another line to wait to be taken to your seats. The food was excellent and the performers were enthusiastic. The show isn't super authentic, but was enjoyable. The service was very good. I did take issue with our 11 year old being charged as an adult, and also being charged a fee for alcohol and sales tax on alcohol sales. Despite the fact they were billing for a minor, they say this is just how their billing works and they would not take the charges off. Adults are served unlimited mai tais, beer or wine, seemed like a rip-off to be charged this portion of the fees for a child.

One of the best buffet dinners I've ever eaten. Fresh, creative, and diverse choices. I've now attended both the Disney Polynesian luau and the Wantilan luau and rate the Wantilan as better value for the money. Also recommend spending the extra money (less than $10 per person) for preferred seating at the first two tables to see the show up close. The dancers were amazing!

If you are looking for an authentic luau then the Wantilan Luau is for you. Enjoy Hawaiian Treats including a pig roast, Johnny cakes, and pineapple desserts. The Dancing is great and I enjoyed the interaction with the audience. I loved the fire performance! Having been to a luau in Hawaii, the Wantilan luau is authentic and enjoyable. Great for the entire family.

The food was fantastic, especially the Kahlua Pork. Our Mai tai glasses never went empty.
The announcer of the show was great, and the dancers were wonderful. I really enjoyed it.
Thanks, and Mahalo!

Enjoyable experience. Food was nice and plentiful. Loved the Mai Tais. But overall I think it wasn't good value. It was shorter than I expected and not enough entertainment. I wouldn't do it again.

It was all delicious, all the food was great. Then once the show began it was non stop and very entertaining. We did get there early to get a close table reserved and that was worth the wait. All in all, it was a lot of fun.

My 2 sisters and I enjoyed the evening. The food and the entertainment were great. I would recommend this to anyone. It was actually our 3rd time to see the show and loved it. The only thing I would recommend is for someone like me who has had gastric bypass surgery and can't eat so much, is for you to offer a reduced rate due to not being able to eat. Food is wonderful but can only eat a miniscule amount.

My wife and I like it that said, the families with children the show did not keep them entertained, good thing we were outside lots of the kids played just outside the show area. The food was good and all you can eat up til the start of the show. The show was very nice too. Was a evening.

Had a great time at the Luau, The music and performers were outstanding. The food was good to very good, The desserts were fair to good. The Mai Tais tasted more like Kool Aide than an adult beverage. Overall a nice experience but maybe just once a year.

The Wantilan Luau at the Loews Royal Pacific in Orlando has a good variety of food choices for the luau buffet, whether you're looking for authentic Hawaiian (or Pacific island) fare or something for the kids to eat. Entertainment is in the form of music, dance, and storytelling, plus a great fire dance. We thoroughly enjoyed the luau. Must give kudos to the luau and hotel staff for keeping the show going (outside but under cover) even though we had heavy rain.

It was great to surprise my daughter and son-in-law with the surprise announcement for their anniversary. It was great to have pictures with the performers after the show?

The dining included authentic Hawaiian singers and band. The dancers were both male and female natives to Hawaii; they presented traditional dances of Hawaii, Tahiti and Samoa. Audience participation on stage with the dancers was enjoyable and fun for everyone.

That show was fantastic and the servers were very attentive and polite but the food was just OK. Not a great selection and not the best quality. The Mia Tia's were a nice touch but again not the best quality. For $79, I expected top-notch but instead got an average dinner.

The food was so good! The food was really unbelievable, honestly could not have been better. The food and service were excellent. However, the drinks were fair, the wine was awful. The show itself was OK and left us feeling that the evening was not worth the money. The band was fair, the female dancers were fair, the male dancer was very good at the fire dance, but fair otherwise. I expected a lot more for what it cost and for a hotel on universal's property. I expected a first rate show, which this was not. I would come for the food, but not for that price.

Talented performers, buffet was authentic, so depending on what you like - it could go either way. Beverages are limited... Nonalcoholic is fruit punch, lemonade, and water... while alcohol was beer, wine, mai tai's. No sodas or teas. Refills on Mai Tai's was frequent, but adults drinking fruit punch, you had to ask.

There's a meet and greet afterwards, which is nice for photos.

This is outdoors and it is Florida - the HUMIDITY can be uncomfortable, even though there were ceiling fans going.

There's a pre-show in the garden, but most guests wandered inside the A/C of the lobby.

Remember to get your parking pass validated at check-in... They didn't ask or just give us the validation, so it'll cost you NOT to ask!

It was a great experience for my daughter's birthday. There was plenty of audience participation too. Libations were included in the price and so was th gratuity. I'd do it again.
