Wann Japanese Izakaya
Izakaya restaurants all have a multi-faceted menu and offer many types of food such as sashimi, tempura and yakitori; all appetizing dishes which go well with the alcohol served such as beer, sake and shochu.
Due to the informal atmosphere, instead of ordering and eating individual platters, customers usually share all dishes with one another in their party.
While maintaining true to the Izakaya environment, WANN have brought class, sophistication and refinement to match the modern people of today.
The food was amazing and the service was great. The only thing that would've improved it would have been something on the website letting me know there was a Valentine's day prix fixe before I made my reservation. I didn't find out until the day of. Even though it was good, it was unexpected.
Delicious food good atmosphere overall a great experience
Great service and great sushi.
Wann has great happy hour and a good selection. I brought my friends here for the first time and they enjoyed all the dishes. Our favorite thing was the fried eggplant in soy broth and the shrimp tempura roll. Would highly recommend and has more seating for happy hour than the other japanese place down the block.
Good happy hour selection and prices. Our waitress was great but the kitchen staff and server seemed to be very confused and they kept trying to bring us food that we didn't order. Then, they ended up missing one of our orders completely so we had to wait a long time to get our last roll. Our waitress was very kind and apologetic about it though.
Excellent service and selections for dinner. HH is fabulous and so close to the theater its wonderful!
This was the perfect dining experience for a birthday meal with my friends before going to the Moore Theater. The waitress was kind, delightful and very efficient. The menu was great and the price was excellent! I will definitely eat here again.
We arrived to restaurant and the staff seemed disorganized. At first we thought it was due to early evening and happy hour time. The floor in the bar area was sticky and it was not just in one area. We decided to only have an appetizer and a drink and then left instead of staying for dinner.
The sushi and tsukemono were pretty good, but the service was terrible! The food took forever and our server rarely checked in on us. They were out of one of the pieces I ordered, and didn’t let me know until my order arrived. I was afraid to order a replacement since it took an hour to arrive in the first place, and it wasn’t even that busy. I won’t go back; there are too many other good options for sushi in Seattle.
The food was just okay, the service was very slow, and the menu was typical prices for Seattle. This is not a place I would recommend to friends.
Consistently good spot with an awesome happy hour. Excellent rolls, tempura, miso, sushi & sake. Very friendly, professional and excellent service.
Meh izakaya. Meh service. There's a bunch of better places with similar menus in Seattle. Go there instead.
It’s was great. Quiet Friday night. Perfect for a date. Will definitely go back.
Relatively quiet on a Sunday night. Food was fast and well prepared. Tap list was short but covered all the bases. Great service in English and Japanese. Better than average izakaya if you're looking downtown.
Pleasant surprise in the heart of Belltown
Our server was very friendly, and all of us were happy with the food! Overall a good evening.
The food and the atmosphere was a great fit for this little sushi restaurant. And the happy hour specials were great also!
Good happy hour menu, for both drinks and food; note that tea is per cup, not unlimited pots like Chinese restaurants. There are a few booths that are raised above the rest of the floor that I think are fun to sit in.
It's fine. The happy hour menu is a pretty good deal. The "Okay" public health rating needs to be worked on. We had an event nearby, but I would NOT make a trip here otherwise.
Solid business lunch when on a budget
Excellent dining experience! Loved the food, lots of great happy hour choices too. Service was fabulous, food was tasty and fast!
My partner and I had dinner on Valentine's day. The menu was Prix fixe and included 7 courses, some of which is on the regular menu. The tuna tataki was delicious. As was the ebi in spicy sauce.
Excellent Happy Hour! Friendly staff, good vibe and not too loud. The food was delicious as well - specialty roll was worth the $. Shrimp dumplings were tasty and the miso is yummy. We will definitely be back!
This should not be called an izakya restaurant, it's nothing like an izakaya in Japan. It's just another mediocre Japanese place. Sorry I just wasn't impressed with anything. Food, service. Ambiance. Nothing
Squid Robata was completely burnt. Manager was rude when we asked for enough ponzu for everyone at the table. Our party included children and they put us in a dark area around the corner from the main restaurant that seemed as if it wasn’t in use anymore. Waitress was very nice but other than that we did not have a good experience.
This is a lovely place to grab a pre/post-theatre performance meal. The happy hour menu is generous (lots of choices) and the service was excellent. Dishes were the right size to split between two people and the food wasn't too heavy (more "snacks" that are filling than actual solid "meal"). It was a great place to hang out and have a conversation over drinks and food.
The happy hour prices were great and the food was good
Had reserved for 8pm. Arrived early. No hostess. Place looked empty A group of strange people dressed in strange costumes were filtering in.
A girl finally walked by. She said she would find someone. Another 10 min hostess finally She talked to 2 girls who just arrived. I told her I had a reservation..it was now 820pm. She said we would be seated behind the walkin groups of 6 and 2.
I showed my confirmation. She said we would be seated behind the walkins It would be at least 30 min. Had taken a cab there...not impressed. She said she could recommend 2 other Japanese places. I had already tried them . Nothing until 915. It was obvious she knew the strange party of 6 some of whom were now necking! We went to Japonessa. BEST!!!!
We appreciated servers being very attentive and friendly.
Food was very salty i.e. roll, ramen. Rice was mushy and doughy.
We met some friends from Seattle here and had an absolutely wonderful meal. Every item we ordered was delicious. You can't go wrong at this place. And the prices were quite reasonable as well,
I hadn't been here in years, so it was a very pleasant surprise to enjoy their happy hour menu. Too much, actually! The portions were incredibly generous for the price, a good range of sushi rolls, nigiri and sashimi -- as well as cooked food. Drinks weren't shabby either! The apple sake was tasty. Only bad thing is the garage next door. DON'T PARK THERE, no matter how tempting it is to be right next door. My car and several others were broken into -- and people who park under there told us it's not an uncommon occurrence. The smell alone should put you off.
I've had my share of Japanese food, both _in_ Japan and stateside, and I expect anything calling itself an "izakaya" to excel at a diversity of small(ish) plate cuisine and have a reasonable selection of credible sake. Good sushi is of course always a plus. Wann hits all the bases, serving up a great fusion of traditional foods and Northwest zest. The seating space is intriguingly diverse, including a glassed-in rock garden and private banquet rooms. It's a few block walk from Pike Place, but totally tractable and totally worth it.
I booked a table for Valentine's day at a recommendation of a friend. I was definitely surprised at the quality of the food as well as the service. A+!
A great small plates place. Go with a group for happy hour (all day Mondays and Tuesdays!) and you'll be able to fill up on a huge variety of tasty morsels. Both traditional Japanese and contemporary/fusion offerings. The decor is also a tasteful and imaginative blend of traditional and contemporary Japanese. Generously sized small plates, exceptionally good prices and attentive service. Interesting cocktails if you like that sort of thing (I don't) and a good selection of wines, sake and shochu. The only drawback is the Belltown lack of parking. Otherwise, a winner!
Terrible service. Ran out of seafood - in a sushi restaurant.... Told us would be 30 minutes before our entrée arrived. And then eventually mine arrived but my wife had to wait. Explaining to the waiter we would like to eat at the same time they took my food away, and then 30 seconds later a separate waiter brought it back, again without my wife's..... All in all - this place was a circus. We left at that point and went to a different restaurant
I was really pleasantly surprise with the menu. Everything was good and in good portion for a reasonable check.
Strongly recommend to try the Brie Tempura with Raspberry Soy Sauce.
The butabara (pork belly) skewer combined with nigori-sake was super awesome!
The servers were super nice as well. The place is great if you like Japanese izakaya food.
Place has a pretty good happy hour! During the weekday I would suggest going before or at 6:30 ish , any later than that, the restaurant get's super packed and ordering happy hour food could take a while! Overall not bad :)
