Wang's in the Desert
found throughout Asia and the Pacific.
Our restaurant is warm and inviting! You can dine in our dining room looking at our flowing stream; cuddle in our private Red Room, chill on our outdoor patio, or relax in our spacious lounge. The choice is yours…
Whether dining or relaxing, Wang’s represents California living at its very best.
Our dinner was good, but high priced IMO.
Food was very good but it was a Friday night and we didn't realize it was dance night. Noise level very high. Have been before and heard Jazz singer that was really good, so just need to pick your entertainment night that suits you!
Went to see a singer who was not able to perform due to a sick family member. I made a reservation and got a confirmation and later a reminder about an hour before my arrival time. There was no mention of the entertainment being cancelled. I would have appreciated advance notice.
The service, cocktails and dinner were all excellent.
Lemon Chicken was prepackaged frozen breaded chicken served with shredded ice berg lettuce a lemon slice and a cherry with a bowl of what tasted like packaged lemon sauce. I’ve been before and the food was good, this was unacceptable. Will not be back.
The entertainment was a huge plus. The décor is a little sparse. A little redecoration on the inside will give the place a warm feel. The place has a lot of potential.
Good experience good experience etc ets etc etc etc etc
The best Chinese food in Palm Springs. Great atmosphere, big portions, strong drinks and great special dishes.
Dominic was a excellent bartender/server and great personality!
Worst service ever. The waiter was trying his best but he forgot one of our orders. Very slow and once the food arrived it wasn’t hot. The table next to ours was experiencing the same problems so when I asked them about it the manager came over and told me to mind my own business. Wtf? I will never go back here again. There are too many great restaurant choices in the valley. Their lack of customer service and sub par food is a deal breaker.
Pretty disappointed. We enjoy the food usually, but it was slow to arrive, warm at best, and had little flavor. Drinks took 20 min, entrees an hour after we were seated.) Ambience was lame( candles not lit, lighting too bright, karaoke was bad) Server was polite enough, but absent or too busy. Place was moderately busy in the dining room, but the bar was empty and the place was largely empty by the time we left.
It was great !
Twangs DID NOT honor my open table confirmed reservation, despite me showing my Open Table confirmed reservation email.
Food was fine service was terrible. Didn’t have a server for the first half hour. They got the order wrong. And there was no one to tell because the server disappeared for long periods. I regret paying the tab
I remember when this place was good. I took a friend here and was severely embarrassed by the food quality and how it has gone down hill. The Mongolian beef had like a chemical taste and was overloaded with onions. The cashew chicken had few cashews and the flavor was ok I guess compared to the beef, which we pretty much left. The price paid I could have spent way less and ate at Pei Wei and had better food. After talking to others after our experience I guess this is a trend and the place is for sale. Also heard a rumor that their was some sort of hate crime that occurred recently there. I will not go back and will be surprised if they are still open next year when I go to PS
Mediocre food, really poor and slow service – – it took us over 20 minutes just to get a second drink at the table.
Great food and atmosphere in downtown Palm Springs! The service and beverages are fun! The General Wangs Chicken is the best!
Great food! Great service!
An easy walk from downtown and a bit of a fusion of Chinese and Thai quisines, Wangs is a fine place for dinner. I would have been delighted to have had lunch there too as I was at a professional meeting within a thousand feet of the place but alas closed at 1 PM.
The decor is eclectic with Asian accents and includes a little Japanese style arched footbridge (Romaric but at my age something else to trip on in subdued light. The appetizers are varied and fairly generous. We had the steamed shrimp dumplings—very good. The mais were a chicken and Shrimp dish in about the best black bean sauce we’ve ever tasted. Also had the tempura shrimp which was fresh and served some interesting variations—like tempura baby bock choy. This dish was a little disappointing because the batter was too heavy and soaked up too much oil. They should have used a light Pablo type breading, but perhaps they will read this and adjust. The only complaint was that the live music was too loud even though we were far from the band. It seems to be a Palm Springs thing to have live music if you can, but we find it too loud and detracts from your ability to have a conversation This is not unique to Wangs; it put a damper on two other dinners. Don’t let this make you not go there; if you are younger than 60 I’m sure you’ll love the music.
Overall, a very good place to go if you’re in Palm Springs. Recommended!
Seems to have gone downhill since our last visit. Saturday night only 1/4 full.
Mario was a great waiter. Good recommendations and great food in a cool setting.
Great Pan-Asian selections with exceptional service & live entertainment.
Lot's of fun, great food and service. Happy hour was well worth it.
I have seen ads for Wangs for years and decided to try it for dinner. The atmosphere was a bit more 70s dinner club/lounge than I prefer. The service was OK, although the waitress kept forgetting to come back with silverware, etc that she promised. The food was unremarkable. The Jalapeno calimari was strange, I've never seen calamari in square chunks and the sauce was overly sweet. There was a live singer working from what was basically a karaoke machine. All in all, nothing particularly bad, just a throwback experience to the 70s.
Wonderful attentive wait staff. Food was great, with a lot to choose from.
Good food, good service and good entertainment. We’ll be back!
Food was great but live music WAY too loud. Almost impossible to have a conversation. Would only go back on a night when there is no live music.
Great waiter!!!!! Food was good. They were out of dry ice for our drinks and offered no discount on the cocktail. We were one of the first patrons that night. I did not like that we were sat in the very back of the restaurant. Totally away from the nights entertainment. Seems like if you know the people that work there, you get more personal attention.
Great live singing and our waiter, Nicky, was outstanding! Will definitely be back!!
I have always loved Wangs - this time was no different. The food is excellent and the service attentive but not intrusive.
Excellent food, a delightful waiter and adorable host. It was an all around fabulous experience and we will be returning.
Lloved Keisha d. Service was very
Slow it took 15 minutes after seated to get a drink
Service was the best as well as the food. The servers were friendly and most accommodating. The noise level was a bit high but had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend this place and looking forward to returning.
Best Chinese food in the Coachella Valley! What an excellent dining experience. The food was so good. And the prices are very reasonable for high quality ingredients and presentation. Our waiter was very professional and just a very nice presence. It took me six years to finally get here and I will definitely return.
Wow. Thai food was made by someone who never tasted Thai cuisine. The soup was made with beef broth vice coconut milk. Just got worse from there - pad Thai and Panang curry were boring and bland.
This place is not PF Chang’s in the desert.
This place was the most amazing Chinese food restaurant we have ever eaten at. The food, ambience and atmosphere was excellent. Difficult to say if it was potentially noisy as it was midweek and only a few people there but who cares. Nicky was our server. He was so intensive and alert to his tables. He gave recommendations but we had already seen the menu on line so we had already knew what we were going to be eating. Nice size portions as well.
When we arrived for our reservation at 9:25, we were asked to leave since they “closed early”. Then they proceeded to show us an empty restaurant. When asked why they accepted an open table reservation, he said “open table doesn’t know there hours”. Was basically kicked out.
The service was terrible even though we were the only ones in the whole place. The food was okay, but not worth the price. The cocktails were not good. Overall, not a good experience.
Service was great. Food exceptional. We were NEVER rushed. Seated in a comfortable and Private area.
Dishes all quite sweet.
