Walter�s Bistro offers contemporary fine dining in Colorado Springs. One might not think exquisite seafood could be found so far from the ocean, but this eatery just minutes from downtown pulls it off very well with steamed mussels, salmon fillet and pan seared scallops, just to name a few.

While delicious seafood in the mountains may be a welcome surprise when visiting Walter�s Bistro, there is plenty on the menu for the landlubbers. For example, the power lunch crowd will love the bacon wrapped meatloaf, � pound Wagyu bistro burger and the grilled bistro steak even if the seafood crepes do not tempt them. The dinner menu at Walter�s Bistro includes Colorado white trout, Chilean sea bass, wild mushroom ravioli, smoked duck breast and osso bucco.

First time there. Had heard rave reviews. Frankly, I thought the food was boring. There are foodier places to go in the Springs.

We had a great time at Walter's Bistro. From the welcome from the host to the friendliness of the wait staff Walter's Bistro is a place we will visit again. Food was excellent and atmosphere is nice for a romantic getaway.

Excellent! Walter was a friendly, gracious host. Our Servers, Rob and Kathy were very nice, attentive, professional and knowledgeable. The steak tartare, osso bucco, sea bass and lemon cake were all delicious! The bar area looked very comfortable and the dining room ambience was very pleasant. One of the better meals and service we have had anywhere.

My husband and I ate here for an anniversary dinner. It was good but something didn't quite hit the mark. The ambiance is OK but it's not a high-end, treat yo' self sort of feeling. The first table we were offered was literally right by the kitchen door so we asked for the adjacent booth. A server (not our waitress) offered us a wine list but no menu. It was 7 PM and they seemed slammed by an early bird seating. As it turned out, after those folks left, the dining room didn't fill up. Anyway, we shared the a caesar and the lobster bisque as appetizers. The bisque was nice, very savory. The caesar wasn't anything special. I love anchovies but they didn't stand out. The bread basket was totally uninspired. Two, frozen/then baked, rolls. Our entrees were both solid I had the trout which was perfectly cooked. The skin was crisp and the mousse stuffing melted into the flesh. Veloute sauce was lovely. My husband had the pork belly which he enjoyed but--as it's a rich dish--the portion was pretty small. We shared the creme brûlée for dessert. The topping was perfect...shattered with the spoon. The custard was tasty but not as smooth as I've had before. Anyway, there you have it. Good but not spectacular.

This became a 2 hour dinner...too slow. The scallops were dry. My medium rare steak was very medium. Lobster bisque was still very good. Friend raved about the escargots. Meal would have been longer if we had had dessert. Very very disappointing, because we used to really like Walters.

Love the Lobster Bisque - it is a staple on the menu. Our group 2 fillets and a NY Strip, as well as the Tuna - all delicious! Neighborhood Gem - we like to drop into the bar as well - different menu. This was a birthday celebration - great! Noise level is always a bit high.

We have eaten at Walter's numerous times and this was the first time I was disappointed with the experience. The waitress seemed to be distracted the entire evening as we had to ask for various service points - pepper, more bread, beverage refills.....
I ordered the chef's special Colorado rack of lamb and received four little bone in chops and I do mean little.
About fell off my chair when I got the bill - $52 for the lamb. I went home and grabbed something to eat as I was still hungry. Just felt cheated. $165 bill with no booze.

We enjoyed our meals, food was delicious and perfectly cooked. Desserts were also excellent. Service was prompt and pleasant. If we were staying longer, we would definitely eat there again.

We went on Mother's Day. They had a Prix fixe menu. I had requested lactose free food for myself. I had a lobster omelet for my main course. The eggs were dry. The lobster was really off tasting. They put no sauce of any kind on. It was past horrible! I couldn't eat eggs the next day without nausea, recalling the truly bad omelet. No one came by and asked about our meal. I finally ate it just because I was hungry and I couldn't get the waiter's attention without causing a scene. The waiter and kitchen staff made no effort to make any appetizing rendition of this omelet or direct me to a better lactose free entree. The desserts were excellent. My other family members voted their entrees average.
I will not waste $42 per person here again for a special event. The atmosphere was pleasant but not worth the wait or the at most average food. The water was refilled and we got fresh coffee, kudos to the support staff!

Love Walter's, decided to try with friends for Mother's Day - and included in our Mother's Day Brunch was his famous lobster bisque.
The rest of the meal was pretty typical, good benedict, seafood omelet and pasta for the 4 of us. Nice option to the huge brunch buffets at other restaurants on Mother's Day - bonus it is close to home, we visit often!

The service was outstanding. We had Oysters on the half shell and Escargot for appetizers. I had the scallops - they were quite good but I felt like they were pretty skimpy on the serving. Three medium sized scallops on a small bed of rice with three small asparagus spears and a carrot that was cut in half lengthwise and way underdone. My husband had the sea bass and we did not understand that it was served in a very creamy (almost alfredo-like) sauce. I am sure we will go back but will try to discern the menu a little better next time.
